The gates open. You are immediately immersed in a potent light that resonates throughout the entire realm. Negative emotions begin to dissipate and you are rapidly filled with positive energy. You feel an overwhelming sense of Love and Warmth that touches the very core of your being. Astonishingly beautiful scenery enters your vision; a polished blue sky filled with soft floating white clouds, luscious green grass and golden trees. There is a gentle cool wind that smells like lavender. The atmosphere is one of pure bliss; peace, harmony and cohesion mix to create the perfect sensation. You feel an intense sense of wonder and fascination that you have not felt in a very long time.

Suddenly he appears. Taller and broader than you remember, older too. The scar on his face is gone and has been replaced by a pleasant smile. You struggle to maintain your composure. Tears begin to stream down your face as you stand in admiration of the mature young man who stands before you. He would be in his late adolescence now; the power and beauty of youth still firmly within his grasp.

You open your mouth to speak, but the words are silent. There is a visceral moment of understanding. The connection you share at this moment is stronger than at any time in the previous realm. What about the doubt in yourself and the guilt that gripped you for so many years? What about the dread you felt in anticipation of this moment; facing the being whose life you cut short through your own negligence?

All is forgiven. The beings embrace. Suddenly it becomes clear: this is the moment their whole lives had lead to. This was the purpose for their existence.

The above passage was inspired by words heard in a song. I thought it would be interesting to frame a narrative in the context of a song and see if readers could guess which song I might be referring to. The song touches on themes of sadness, self-doubt, regret, yearning and reconciliation.

If there exists a spiritual world for us to experience after leaving this one, do you think the power of Love could triumph any negative emotions that existed between the two - no matter how bad - in the next realm of existence?

Not sure if anybody is still following this thread, but if so, the song that inspired this thread was Eric Clapton's 'Tears In Heaven'. I think the 'heaven' theme might have put off quite a few people, which is a shame, but understandable.

More information about the song can be found on the Wikipedia page.

(The thread title is a verse in the song.)
