Debbie Wasserman Schultz. This is not only the head of the Democratic National Committee, she is a serving United States Congresswoman. This would, one would think, carry a level of dignity and integrity with it.

Apparently, in her case, that assumption is absurdly misplaced. She would appear to have no integrity and from past events, she has more than shown she has no honor, in my view. Florida, please, help see that she has no JOB at your earliest convenience. House of Reps are up every 2 years. She can be bounced out and shown the street that often. This? This is why.

DNC Chair Involved in Altercation Outside Polling Location

A group of sign-waving campaign ralliers comprised of both Democrat and Republican supporters outside an Aventura, Florida polling location witnessed Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz get involved in a heated altercation with an Aventura policeman after she apparently took issue with his request to not engage in campaign activities in the street which would hold up oncoming traffic.

There are laws. VERY clear, very serious and absolutely without exceptions. Campaigning, "electioneering" or disrupting the polling place in *ANY* way is responded to quickly and severely in places which take it seriously. That's been everywhere I've been. 2 years ago I saw someone thrown out for making what I'd take as a casual comment regarding the candidates just loudly enough to be overheard while in line. That's all it took. Enter...what Debbie did:

She listened to the police officer’s respectful and reasonable request, but Wasserman Schultz continued to argue with the police officer, according to several people who witnessed the incident.

Wasserman Schultz was greeting voters and waiving her campaign signs on a street that leading into the polling site and was obstructing traffic by stopping cars before they could even enter the parking area.

As noted, this is in absolute, clear and certain violation of federal law regarding the free and fair operation of polling places during the general election. As a Congresswoman, she's literally a member of the body who passes such laws. As the leader of the party, second only to Obama himself for political position in that respect, she should set an example for others to follow...not be shamed by.

Unnerved by the simple request from a police officer, Wasserman Schultz made a “well placed” phone call to some unknown individual in a position of authority. Five minutes later, the Aventura City Mayor came to the scene and was confronted by Debbie Wasserman Schultz and proceeded to get an earful from her as well.

In this crazy election cycle we are being treated to the worst of both sides embodied by the worst of both side's political extremes. On one hand, we are seeing Republicans who apparently got their biology education from pornographic magazines and videos. I have no idea where else some of their stupid crap is coming from. On the other, we have this. While demanding, screeching and outright preaching the NEED for completely fair and unrestricted access to vote and a friendly polling place, she proceeds to BECOME the very problem she has been crusading against.

Hypocrisy runs rampant both directions and deeper than the oceans. If it's too much to toss this example of corruption (that phone call to SUMMON the mayor is corruption. Outright. On it's ugly face) in favor of a Republican of whatever flavor is is running against her...then please, next time she comes up, bounce her right at the Primary and get someone in that does have honor and integrity. Our nation never improves while those who lead it are so blatantly placing themselves above even the basic, common laws we all must follow or be called down for.

We're a nation of laws or we are not. If we are, then flaunting them cannot stand by either party, for any reason. The top levels of leadership are not simply ones who should have no exception made, they are ones who should never NEED excuses made. Their conduct should be kept..by their own standards...above such examples.

Did you know you'd get my attention with this title because of a famous DVD I have titled, 'Debbie does Dallas', or was it just coincidence and I need to get my mind out of the gutter..lol

However on topic..

I completely agree with you here. With the position she is in you would think she'd handle herself differently, hypocritical is a good word for it

Good article. Debbie Wasserman Schultz broke the law. Video evidence will make the case a slam. Whether or not she goes to jail or pays a fine will be only trivial. As she will be certainly pardoned by the outgoing president.

Wasserman Schultz stayed about 20 minutes before she left the scene with the six or so supporters she brought with her . After the congresswoman left, one of the Democrat supporters who witnessed the whole incident confronted the Mayor and told him that what she did was “extremely inappropriate” for her to berate him in the manner she did.
This altercation is just a few days removed from an earlier incident in which the congresswoman took issue with a Democrat voter who refused to campaign and support her and instead supported her Republican congressional opponent Karen Harrington.

I hope she is not pardoned for I do not feel that would be fair by her actions. She deserves to be treated as anyone who is not a congresswoman would be in this situation.

But what did the Department of Justice teach us in the case of the Black Panthers? If she felt that she was above the law, who could deny her? She has precedent on her side.

And yes, we are becoming a nation of men, not laws.

(innocent smile) Really? There is a movie by a similar name about Dallas? Err... Oh.. It's not a travel movie just promoting the Dallas area? oops.
(whistles while counting ceiling tiles)

Forgive my play on words...I couldn't resist the twist of humor, especially since it doesn't actually add to or draw from the content of the story...just draws the eye a bit to see what that content might be. I'd share some of my other terms reserved for Senate Candidate Akin...but that might get me an evening in the ATS penalty box.

Cant find any actual sources for this. Just the right wing hackjob websites copy/pasting each other with no actual sources
Went looking for a less partisan account of this, maybe a video, etc..you know..actual credible accounts. If we believe it because its on the internet (and the washington times being the "most reputable" website carrying the unsourced story word for word), then maybe I am a alien billionaire.

I suspect this is more from "the mountain".

Debby isn't very threatened incidently.

Well Saturn, I appreciate your diligence. That kind of attention does tend to keep people honest. I'm not real familiar with Shark-Net in general, so I went and did some more looking to see if there was some glaring thing I might have needed to see before referencing them as a source. It happens of course.

In this case, I found they've been active and running since 2001 and serving Florida's conservative community as a whole. They've had material and commentary appear in the Wall Street Journal, the Fox Network, RT, The Gateway Pundit and others. Washington Times carried this particular story, and that's a name to add to the list. In checking for this one, I found it carried on a few dozen other sites, both large and small thought Shark-Net would seem to have been the originating source.

Now, that doesn't necessarily make a news site. Drudge Report, for instance, is a pure news aggregator. Sourcing them is like sourcing Wiki. It's as good as the source THEY had. Shark-Net, thanks to the research you spurred me to do, turns out to be an small organization that goes out and interviews, collects and reports a fair % of it's own news as well as serving to aggregate news from a variety of sources. As I've read this, it sounds like a story they've applied personal attention and time to reporting.

So, never knowing for sure what I might find when I go hopping off on a research trip, I'm happy to find there were no big, nasty surprises I might have missed about using this as a source and actually, after this work, have added them to my fair sized list of Tier 1 sources I check daily. I define Tier 1 as those who actually go out and DO reporting..not simply carry what others claim to have gone out for. All in all, a productive effort.

I see this as an indicator that perhaps, the election is not clear-cut and it is too close to call. Both sides can and will test the legal, moral, ethical limits before this is all done.

SnF for a witty title.

Many Obama supporters want to flip Florida for some reason. The only valid reason could be Ohio.

Thank goodness you clarified WHICH Debbie; I thought I was going to have to defend my honor for a second there!

Seriously, why do people in Florida continue to vote for this hypocrite? And you know they still will. Makes me glad I don't live in Florida.
