7.7 BC Quake In Same Spot As Massive GeoEngineering Project!

Hey ATS...

Some may remember the news from a few weeks ago about private business man Russ George creating the world's largest geoengineering project in the world just off the coast of BC. The Vancouver Sun reported that George was to dump 100 tonnes of iron into the ocean to help spawn plankton that will then absorb carbon dioxide and sink to the ocean bed.

The Canadian Awareness Network wrote a great article about it today -

canadianawareness.org...

This obviously enraged many here in BC, Canada and around the world, in particular from Naomi Klein (author of No Logo and others) who wrote about in the New York Times -

www.nytimes.com...

I am no scientist but I do find it highly strange that this is the same spot where the largest earthquake in the area has been felt in over 60 years (with non-stop aftershocks still happening now!)

Coincidence? What do you guys think?

they just had another one happen this morning or last night

6.2 i think, i saw it on the news today.

p.s., someone already made a thread about this

100 tons isn't even the weight of a small ship, and ship's do consist out of mainly iron too. The big ones at least.

I highly doubt that 100 tons of iron can have whatsoever impact upon the geological stability.

I would like to read more about this.
Anyone have a link to the other thread?

Actually the non stop aftershocks haven't been in that area. The original earthquakes 3 of which where 7.7 were in the Queen Charlottes. The aftershocks if you want to call them that, they are more earthquakes have been in Prince Rupert and in Kitimat. Misinformation for the benefit of sensationalizing a story isn't a good thing. Sorry. Fact check next time. There were 2 more yesterday Queen Charlottes 6.2 and a few in Prince Rupert all around 4.5. It seems pretty quiet today. There is no evidence that dumping Iron into the ocean at the surface would cause such a thing to happen even if it does sink. This is a coincidence. That area all the way to Alaska has been having Earthquake swarms since early spring. That area has historicall been active for Earthquakes just not this big for a long while. They weren't dumping Iron back then.

First off the story is fact checked and just because there are quakes in other areas doesn't mean the original destabilization occurring in the area where the project was first completed is null and void. I'm not talking about the later aftershocks.

Secondly, considering this is the first time a project this big has ever occurred I think it would warrant at least checking into to see if anything from the iron caused this to happen. Who said anything about weight causing it? It could be any number of things.

All I'm saying is we don't know if this two events are linked but I think it warrants some looking into. Glad everyone on ATS is so smart they automatically know how everything works! People were not sure if fracking was causing earthquakes originally either, it took some time. Just proposing the idea, as the authors of the article did as well, that it might be worth looking into.

Also, I live in BC, I know it active but this is the largest quake in 60 years. You don't think that means anything?

You say it's a coincidence? Prove it

There is no evidence to suggest that dumping iron does not cause earthquakes? Prove it. There has never been a project this big, how would you know?

Unless you have the scientific data or education to conclusively prove that these two events are not linked, your opinion is just a guess, same as mine, no more no less.

You are the one who needs to do a fact check. You have already been exposed as a disinformation troll on the Louisiana sink hole thread. So, the aftershocks haven't been in the Queen Charlotte Island area; well the USGS would like to disagree with you. Below is a listing, directly from the official USGS site, of the quakes and aftershocks on the day of the 7.7 event and the following days up to the present. Here is the link to the source site.

While they have been tapering off the number of aftershocks was quite large in the first and second days after the original 7.7 quake. There are also, if you look at the longitude and latitude numbers, more aftershocks close enough to the Queen Charlotte Islands to count as aftershocks from the 7.7 quake.
