Hurricane sandy... the "storm of the century"... But is it really?

A some states are have called a state of emergency... But is it really necessary?

From what im seeing theres some flooding in New York... but i mean, theres maybe 3 feet of water in the streets looking at the "live coverage"

Does anyone remember Katrina?

www.youtube.com...

That was a real storm... This weak little catagory 1 so called "hurricane"... is just a sneeze in comparison.

I'm seeing reports on CNN (of course) that 2 million people are currently without power?

Come on.... really??

Is the power out because of the storm or because someone was told to turn it off?

Of course this is just speculation, but im seeing a lot of fear mongering with this storm... And i smell a rat!! The media is making such a big deal over this storm... and im just not buying it.

Sure of course there will be some destruction, but that tends to happen anywhere a hurricane hits land...

BUT...

This is just a large storm... it barely classifies as a hurricane...

I invite anyone reading this to actually take a look at Hurricane sandy on Satalite radar...

www.theweathernetwork.com...

Click the zoom out button on the left... and see what its all about...

The storm is disapating as i type this... And the media is still making it out to be the storm of all storms...

Frankenstorm??

Oh i think not!!

I think this is so called "hurricane" a convienent reason to distract people from something....

But what?

Any thoughts?

Any comments?

Dear Akragon,

I agree the publicity is overblown, the question is why. Peace.

I would bust out some Gangnam style dancing in the streets right in the middle of this puny little storm...

(I actually do tend to wander when a storm hits... IF you've ever seen some weird guy standing in a field during a lightning storm... that might have been me
)

Now if this storm was the same as Katrina, or Issac... i would definatly be taking cover...

Somethings up... i don't get all the hype about Sandy...

Its barely a hurricane

Dear VoidHawk,

Agreed; but, I think there is more to it. Perhaps we shall see who takes advantage of the opportunity. Perhaps we should keep an eye on the stock market and the Euro Zone. Peace.

YouTube - PSY - GANGNAM STYLE (강남스타일) M/V

Let's do the dance together dearest Akragon. I should point out that I actually know someone who met this guy. She was responsible for escorting him on his way, she said he was the nicest most humble person she had ever met and she is Korean. She has met many other celebrities and helped them on their way including Lady Gaga.

The New York Stock exchange is now under water with 3 feet on the floor and rising.

Edit to add: New reports say this original report is incorrect and can not be verified. Sorry I jumped on the report before they denied it. They are worried for the financial district due to sub basements and basements flooding.

I agree. They are REALLY shoving the severity of this storm down our throats. I don't get into all the weather conspiracy usually, but I have defiantly been thinking about it w/ regards to Sandy. In the 'disaster in PA' thread the OP later in the thread talks about living in a small population 500 town. She said this morning there were power outages... in 2 areas where apparently the cause of both were a driver fell asleep behind the wheel and hit a pole. Two different cars...same small town???
Eh...thought it applied to your little theory there.

ETA:

If this storm turns out to be nothing out of the norm I won't be surprised, but I will be upset. Not about it not being a bad storm, I'm sick of the crying wolf. That's why you end up with large numbers of people (when they should evacuate) ignoring warnings and then suffering the consequences! People hear the same BS and when it's an actual event, they don't believe it!!

We are only a mere 12 years into the century, so the headline is a little premature.

I think it is all practice for a larger, highly significant event that will really rock the foundations of society.

Definately sensationalised and definatelty over the top.

But it does make sense to warn everyone and to minimise the risk and any potential loss of life.

The worse the DISASTER of a MONSTER STORM it is hyped to be, the better Obama looks when people turn the lights back on. Why would they intentionally turn the lights off? Dunno. Couldn't be an agenda could it?

People in that side of america are not use to hurricanes, not many. So of course its gonna be over hype, that and the NYSE and D.C getting blasted too.

Even when you try to avoid the fear-mongering, they won't let you. Just trying to watch the NFL game and they won't stop talking about it even though they are on the west coast.

"Coming up at halftime, how Hurricane Sandy is impacting the NFL."

I mean, it's just so ridiculous that I have to laugh. Are they harvesting fear or something? The "why" they do this could be so many reasons.
