Good for you. Presumably your belief is sufficiently robust after 40 years to withstand a little banter.

There is much i've become switched on to in the last few years in the way the world works (more specifically how people make it work). Believing mystical beings punish humans with weather isn't one of them. I believe that isn't enlightenment its the opposite.

We will never convince one another. You see divine will and i see weather. Its too big a gap to bridge with discussion. You are entitled to your belief and i'm equally entitled to be amused.

You have no idea how the dots connect. This is just the tip of the iceberg. 7.7 on the West coast. What do you think is going on?

What normally goes on on a planet such as ours with tectonic plates, volcanoes, and an atmosphere laden with water. The 7.7 on the west coast was expected and within expectations (actually a bit under).

Apparently the one with no idea on how dots connect is yourself.

Obviously not the right things in my opinion and experience after nearly 60 years of 'study'

By the way attempting to deny your own faith as a means of attack is not only absurd but is against your faith.

chaos has always run rampant. Weather has always had these patterns, war, murder, deceit and corruption has also always happened. So long as there are men these things will exist. It is nonsense to think that out of all of history that this one storm is meant to punish just a tiny percentage of wrong doers..

We have exponentially more people now, therefore exponentially more chaos.

I didn't say anything about punishment. I said As Above, So Below... meaning the physical world reflects the global mindset.

If the OP wishes to believe that natural disasters are 'divine' messages, so be it. It is his and some few others belief system anyway.

Thing is, there many ways to interpretate divine messages, not just one, more so if one ignorantly made without any theological study as the OP and a few others here on this thread did.

For example, in russia, the unprecendented flooding and the deaths of hundreds in the recent flooding can be constructed as a divine message of cause and effect to Putin, on the corruptive ways of his minions that had total disregard to the rule of law, accountability and responsibility to his citizens. I am sure many there hold him responsible even today.

The recent earthquake in Iran, and the HORRIFYING order by the persian apostate infidel leader Khamenei to stop rescue operations after only 24 hours is another. Goes to wake up the Iranian people on who that apostate truly cares for.- his own deluded prestige as a 'divine' authority yet could not stop even a minor quake, and had to quieten down the quake affair so that none will seek to question his apostate moral and supposed 'divine' authority.

As for storm Sandy, it can equally be interpretated as a sign of how the most democratic nation on Earth, its leaders and citizens, handle natural disasters successfully, and be a role model for the rest of humanity mired in differences, confusion and conflicts, to progress and evolve in a changing world, where change is the only constant.

I do. I tend to think that if I am concious I am in control - most of the time.

Why would I have any need to adhere to any 'teachings'? I am not the sort of person that needs to lean on the words of others to know what I should and should not do.

Proof of what? You have not stated what they are proving. Are you saying that 'your teachings' (very strange phrase to use as it suggests that YOU are doing the teaching) 'prove' that this Hurricane was sent by someone as "Judgement Upon Lawmaking Body and Financial"?

These sort of people, lawmakers and financiers, have been the object of attack throughout the ages. This is not the first storm, this is not a judgement, it is a storm.

Sorry but statements such as that require credible sources detailing the make up these numbers. You see for someone who has 'studied' you really have not done a very good job. That figure is purported to be the number killed by Communism, not Russia.

Thanks and apology accepted. I do get the point and I do actually understand where you stand on this being the son of a priest. I personally just do not accept the divine judgement theory, but whatever the cause natural or divine I feel for those who suffer loss in such events.

Why do you bring up abortion as the reason for the God of Old Testament's wrath? Don't you know that he subscribed to abortion and the killing of unborn babies all throughout the Old Testament? He even gives the priest rules and instructions on how and when to perform abortions in the temple on women who were suspected of being unfaithful to their husbands!

Your God, if he is the same God of the Old Testament is NOT anti-abortion.

It has been a gradual process... not an official one for me - just laying in bed, reading my copy of Goddard's Buddhist Bible. Seems that there is no other way. Mahayana Buddhism! I took the quiz at the Beliefnet website years ago, and scored 100% for Mahayana, before I even knew what it was.
