Canadian police urge Parliament to pass domestic spying bill

rt.com

Police across Canada are urging Ottawa to resurrect a controversial Internet surveillance bill that would allow them to monitor Canadians' digital activities in real-time without a warrant.

The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police has made a plea to on the federal government to pass Bill C-30, also known as the Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act ahead of a gathering by the provincial and federal justice ministers next week.

The group is concerned that Parliament will be cldown before the legislation is passed.

I knew it would only be a matter of time before they tried to bring this back. Vic Toews made a lot of enemies in Canada with his endorsement of this bill and was even subjected to the wrath of Anonymous due to his support. He even went as far as saying that if we are against this bill then we are supporting internet predators which made a lot of people furious.

This bill is a complete invasion of Canadian's privacy and I hope that that logic prevails and does not get passed.

Not only do we have our elected officials pushing this horrible legislation, but our Police are now endorsing it as well.

We need to put our foot down and stop such blatant violations of our privacy.

But if it's being tagged onto the 'protecting the children on the internet', anyone who goes against it will be labelled a kiddy fiddler. You know it, i know, most sane people know it, but the idiots and the press ( are they really 2 different sets of people ?) will just set people up as supporting kiddy fiddling.

I F%^&*£G hate how they try and hide something in things

The irony here being that Vic Toews knocked up the family's babysitter which many would consider predatory behaviour.

The fact Vic Toews was secretly boinking the family’s teenage babysitter for years, impregnated her at 20 years of age (which finally led to the divorce) then refused to pay child support payments of $800/month to his first wife as she continued to raise their children should be known by EVERY Canadian.

Man... the amount of non sexual teen content on the website is enough to put any surfers in jail....

This is why decision like this should be made by someone who been thru this in their life(someone young, in their 30s), not some technology deficient man from ancient generation who doesn't understand internet.

I always assumed they would monitor suspicious hits.

If this bill get passed, goodbye online porn(legal) lol, tell me a legal site which doesn't contain the word "young" or "teen" anymore, but even if its legal, it would hit up a flag with the people who monitor.

I had trouble finding a source for the exact age of the babysitter Vic Toews impregnated, quite a few say 17 though. The real question though, would be how long that relationship was going on before she was pregnant, and also, would Vic's position in government and the fact that he employed the girl, imply that he was in a position of trust:

A person who is under 18 cannot give their permission to have sex with a person who is in a position of authority or trust over them (like a teacher, coach, parent, babysitter, older friend).

www.respectyourself.ca...

A typical position of trust at the personal level involves child custody or power of attorney. The same would be true for the five standard professions; medicine, law, finance, education and engineering[citation needed]. Any regulated profession dealing with the health and safety of others usually requires certification and licensing would be a position of trust. The same would be true in the hierarchy of relationships involved in education, employment, financial matters and government.

Internet predators deserve to be caught and punished but this bill allows law enforcement to access all your internet usage including e-mails withouth warrant or even letting the people know about it and I doubt it will be used against internet predators only, it will allow them to monitor anyone for any reason they wish. One quick call to your internet provider is all it will take for them to access this information. I have also heard that there will be hardware and software put in place so they can bypass having to contact the internet provider...I cannot confirm this but have heard it from various sources. I will try and find confirmation of this.

So much pedophilia has been claimed to exist at the executive level over the years. I wouldn't surprised if they're using this kind of tech to set up a pedo ring for the elite. Look at all the priests that got off scott free. Many claims about pedo's in the UK government as well. If it's indeed in the UK government, why wouldn't it be in other government as well? Pedo's are the worst scum that exist on this earth.

Hey Corruption,

I don't want to be one of THOSE kind of people but...
Here is a link to this same story posted in a thread lastnight.

This is bullcrap.
"Internet predator" and "pedophile" are becoming the new "terrorist." The thing is, people are suckers for the "it's to protect the children!" excuse.

Be afraid of them scary interwebs.

I don't think it will pass but sometimes I just want to bang my head on the wall because something like this is even considered. :shk:

What's worse, and potentially the main issue here, is that these kinds of things have a tendency to snowball, especially when you have crusaders and psychopaths at the helm.

Thanks for the heads up

Thankfully mine is in BAN and theirs is in Other Current Events so this thread will be allowed to remain.

I searched and nothing came up, but this news needs to be discussed either way as it is very important for Canadians to be aware of what our government is up to.

I agree with you, there certainly seems to be a cult of pedophilia within the elite and Boncho mentioned one of the main supporters of this bill is suspected to be a predator as well. Anonymous leaked a bunch of his information which uncovered he was boinking the babysitter...can you say hypocrite?

Agreed. I am all for stopping internet predators and pedophiles but enacting legislation that can be used against anyone is not the solution. Everyone has rights so why should we take away everyone's rights just to catch a few criminals? I wrote my local MPs, Vic Toews and Harper's office when this bill was first introduced. Although I certainly didn't expect my one letter to change anything, if everyone took a few minutes to let our 'elected' officials know how we feel, they should start getting the idea that we don't want these laws passed. At least sign a petition such as OpenMedia.

If the conservatives want this bill passed then Vic Toews should be labelled as a child predator and kicked out of office. When did he start having sex with his babysitter (ie. how old was she)?

Thank you for providing the petition and I will sign it. I am also tempted to write my local MP. I'm in Ontario and have provided a list of who to contact by region in Ontario.

www.ontla.on.ca...

It certainly is sneaky of them to use the protection of children as an excuse to invade our privacy.

I encourage you to write your MP. It doesn't have to contain a huge rant or anything, just to let them know you oppose the bill. If your MP is doing their job properly, they can't ignore the issue if enough people are writing in to disagree.

I think we have to stop all this putting the blame on the government when civllian - con artists
crime gangs/ kiddy fiddlers are the ones to blame here too...

I hear so many people shouting THE ELITE - THE ELITE ...No it's the general population of the
said catergory are the most to blame...

The other thread didn't get the attention that this story needs anyway. I found in the article, when the police chief said "There could be gang members out there, planning murder right now, and there is nothing we could do about it" to be the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. Talk about trying to "play" up fear and lying just to get support.
I posted in the other thread that someone had told me, after the Amanda Todd stuff, this bill would be resurrected. I didn't believe them at the time... I am eating my words now.

I apologize but I am unsure if your post was sarcasm or meant to be serious. The government deserves all the blame when it comes to this bill. I urge you to educate yourself about the details of this bill and then tell us that you still stand by what you posted.

As others and myself have mentioned, the kiddy fiddlers are horrible people and need to be stopped but this goes beyond that. And for you to doubt the fact that their is a high prevalence of pedophilia among the elite either proves you are uninformed or in denial.

There are pedos in the general population too, but they are the ones who get caught and punished as where many elitists get away with it due to their connections.

A perfect example of a mass cover up involving the elite is the Holly Greig story in the UK, this is one of many examples.

I believe you have a lot of research to do before you can fully comprehend the complexity of the situation so good luck in your quest for the truth.

Of course it's not just the Elite. But when people that are supposed to lead be example, our elected officials and people of power, people who we put in positions of trust are part of the problem we have to ask our selves; do we want to keep those creeps in power? We work for them. we elect them, we go to war for them. But of course this is only part of the problem which is even scarier. Pedophilia is only PART of the problem. Plundering, rape, murder, genocide to only name a few. The world is going to hell in a hand basket if the people don't stand up unified and take the power away from those psychopath.
