First of all, I am not the idiot "Boy" and while I appreciate your sentiment, a vote for anyone except Romney now is a vote for Obama and if Obama is re-elected, it will embolden him to push forward are the more harder on his and his handler's agendas. No doubt, Romney is not much better than Obama and voting for that man is maybe not any better on the surface than voting for Obama but by removing Obama we have a chance of removing/replacing the rats that are with him and that alone is reason enough for voting for Romney who is now the only candidate that has a chance to beat Obama. So, spare us you stupid "Clerk's Rhetoric" and childish naivety.

Because they know their guy is a failure and a 3rd party vote is a vote for Obama.

I like Gary Johnson but you know what..to me It looks like Romney actually has the experience and the love for this country... as opposed to our Muslim president.

Just my 2cents

And the people who normally vote democrat going with spusa, cpusa or green is not a vote for romney???

The democrats have just as much a right to bitch as the republicans. Look at ralph nader who took the numbers away from john kerry 8 years ago.

We can all cry as much as we want, but the facts remain the same. The traditionalists are the ones holding us back, and the democrats believe in giving them a fair shot. So every step forward with the democrats means two steps back for the republicans because they hate change.

But change means progress.

do you think the other would have signed the same bills once in office? because it sure seems the minute they get in, bam, headlines read, " so and so signed xyz bill in secret this morning".

I was mainly addressing your assertion that votes do not count but if your biggest question is do I think the same bills would have been passed if Gore won instead of Bush my opinion is no they wouldn’t however I understand many people may disagree with my view but that is my honest opinion.

Too bad he was railing over something he didn’t comprehend. He threw a hissy fit over a word he misread until I had him go back and reread it. So please do applaud poor reading comprehension it seems to be the norm nowadays.
Great job.

Oh for pete's sake. The democrats and republicans have been running this nation since world war 2 straight into the ground, and you are here to tell me that romney is better than obama? I seriously doubt it. Voting for romney JUST to remove obama is sick logic and robs other more deserving parties from getting 5% for funding and 15% for national debate coverage in the future.

No one can destroy a country in 4 or 8 years, so spare me the panic. Besides the democrats are better than the republicans...slightly!

I beg to differ - not voting third party, indeed, not voting at all, doesn't give any more support to the Big Two - it withholds support from all of them. I personally fail to see the logic in the statement that I am some how supporting someone when I give support to no one.

At one time in the not too distant past I would have voted third party, but as things stand now I believe it to be a better choice to withdraw from the system altogether and refuse consent for any of them, until they get their act together and put forward a worthy candidate who also has a chance at winning.

How am I contradicting myself? I always supported the democrats in the past but now center-right is not good enough and I want to go left. The republicans are waayyy right. Why the hell would I ever vote for them?

I could say the same thing about you. "Its ok to destroy america as long as its bush or romney". Circle logic..

voting booths should have questionnaires based on current issues and topics at that time

The ballots in Georgia do exactly that for issues that cannot be Constitutionally handled by the Georgia Legislature. We vote for our Georgia representatives; and, yes the votes count.

The only thing that distinguishes American Citizens from the rest of the world is the right it gives to vote in the elections. If you want to make your citizenship worth anything, you vote. It works. The problem is, too many people neglect the process ... so the system doesn't give then what they wish for.

New flash: Ron Paul did not have a majority in the primaries. If he did, he could win with a third party. He just didn't have the backing required. If he can't win a third party, he can't win with the GOP either.

Its the same with every contender. I think the Tea Party could muster a candidate that would win. It would take work they didn't seem willing to expend.

Actually, the Republicans are quite a bit left of where they used to be, and the Democrats are down right socialist/communist these days. If you want to go more to the left, please move to a leftist nation, like Cuba, China, or Cambodia. You have to staunchly avoid history to want to "go left", because history shows us that people will risk their lives trying to escape those hell-holes while NOBODY tries to get into them.

You are partially correct because Romney is all over the place we have no idea if he is hard right or slightly left but he is still far right from center. Obama I thought was going to be left but he seems to be slightly left of center. The whole idea that he is a socialist, pinko, Commie is the biggest farce I have ever seen perpetrated. That assertion is nothing but hyperbole.

Nope. You are downright deceiving people, which is normal for right wingers. There is no such thing as neo-cons either. If anything the republicans are more right then what they used to be and more stubborn also.

Maybe you are confusing republicans with the tea party folks who are libertarians. Libertarians are fiscal conservatives and socially liberal. These are the mild right wingers. Constitutionalists are also mild right wingers. NOT the republicans!

The democrats have been fluctuating between center and center-right. Because the republicans have gone more right with bush jr and dick cheney that also forced the democrats a bit to the right. All the right wing folks push money and religion, both dangerous to a free society.

Cuba and korea suffer because of the bilderberger blockade. They have not been able to export or import anything for decades, and they can only trade among themselves. It is natural for a population to starve under such UN sanctions. Iran the same thing.

Only a fool or very rich person votes republican. I am neither.

There are over a million people who read these threads on Above Top Secret.

Each of those million people knows 10 people really well - and because they are people that frequent ATS, they are probably people that have some pull and weight with those around them.

That's 10 million there - and if they can get the people that they know to tell the other people they know... well... possibly 100 million, but expect no more than about 20-30 million to listen at all.

My point is that I agree whole-heartedly with the OP........ except for one thing.

If everyone on ATS got together instead of bickering like a bunch of whiny children, THIS PLACE COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE ELECTIONS. Like, in reality.

If EVERYONE here got on board with each other and had a discussion about which candidate everyone could agree upon, we could single-handedly change the election OVERNIGHT.

If ATS really wants to make a difference, this is what will be done.

But because the people who are running ATS probably are not able to make such a stand, we, the participators, need to do it.

Everyone here by ourselves, we are completely useless. But if we can all get together and get behind ONE candidate - OTHER than Romney or Obama - and based on what I have seen, I think the majority of people WANT Gary Johnson but do not believe it is possible -- but the point is that it IS POSSIBLE!

All kinds of people are not yet won. At least half the country never votes.

How many people here have ties to the media in general? Even if it is just local media, blogs, youtube, etc... and how many of you here are bold enough to go to work and risk losing your job telling everyone that if they want to make a REAL impact on America and they want to see something truly different and see a true change in the world today, that if they do what you say, IT WILL HAPPEN.

But everyone here needs to get behind ONE candidate. Just one. There can be no divide at all. If there is any divide, it will fail.

So those of you that are crazy enough to go vote for Romney or Obama and think that you are doing your patriotic duty, let me convince you that while you are doing it, you're also not and the OP is right -- unless we change that.

The hopeless everyone is feeling is BECAUSE of the choice between the "lesser of two evils" as others have pointed out.

So why in the world are you people not getting together and doing this thing right?!?!?! Why are you still bickering?

THIS is what is causing THEM to win!!! These stupid arguments that you are having are manufactured by THEM!!!

EVERYONE post who you think that all of ATS should get behind. DO NOT post reasons because the reasons can be debated all day. You know in your heart the reasons for what you will do. Just SAY it.

IT must be Gary Johnson, in my humble opinion. And I think most of you already know this. So JUST DO IT for real instead of allowing your fears and anxieties make you mix up at the end and choose the "lesser" of the two evils. Do not allow that temptation to change what you know is right to do.

But if you have a valid conviction, THIS you should follow.

GET TOGETHER NOW!!! UNITE FOR ONCE IN YOUR CRAZY CONSPIRATORIAL HEADS! If you have time to sit here and bicker then you have time to do something worth while! The enemy of my enemy is my friend -- and my enemy is the current state of our government -- and since everyone here DOES agree that our government is dysfunctional, you are ALL MY FRIENDS.

And friends WORK TOGETHER!

DO NOT make us suffer another 4 years of stupidity and staleness. PICK a name, stick to it, and shut up and let others say what they will as well.

I have to argue with that, for a very simple reason: most people are too busy doing the things we abhor to pay attention to what we're discussing here. In essence, it's far easier and more rewarding to feed from the system's teats, than to wean yourself off and beat your way through an untrodden path.

And when you've spent your life growing up beneath the careful tutelage of prominent businessmen and political figures (as so many current leaders often have) change is a very hard thing to manage, because all you know is what you're familiar with. Those are the only skills you have.

And in the end, you look around and decide the hell that could be is much worse than the hell that is.

While you may be right, we should intend that people break free from that.

And so I have started a thread Make your Vote Count.

Shed your preconceptions and do something about it right now -- even if it is just to experiment. Just see what happens.

Rather than getting in a pissing contest over the rest of your post, which I disagree with, I'll just quote this line for the truth it holds. Only a fool will vote "Republican" thinking he's going to get a Republican in the deal, until the Republicans actually take back the Republican Party. I don't see that happening, and despair of ever living long enough to see it happen.

Soon, I think, the Democrats are going to realize the same thing about the Democrat Party. Seeing as how the alleged Republicans rally 'round a name simply because it has an "R" next to it, rather than actually looking into what that individual stands for, I sincerely doubt the Democrats will fare much better when the light goes on over their own heads. they will simply rally 'round their own fella because he has a "D" next to his name, regardless of what he actually stands for.
