You know... this thread clearly shows the thin line between conspiracy theory and delusional thinking...

Really you dont have to run to the hills... and no, the germans are not coming. You can now come out of hiding or... from seclusion or whatever paranoid hermits call it.

But I gotta admit this is pretty funny to read... its almost as fun as a discovery show (or national geographic - cant remember) called "preppers". Now those guys take the cake on being utter loons.

The statement "you can now easily monitor anything" is not delusional, its reality. Delusional would be to say that it is already being used for nefarious means by a worldwide dictatorship. But predicting that that could come true some day is - again - not delusional.

I would just like to add that the door swings both ways with this technology.

Good point. If its that easy to monitor, the ones monitoring will be monitored.

We are at a pivotal point at present, with daily usage of our electronic "toys",the pavlovian response is being fine tuned, the entertainment being fed to us requires no thought, just sit back, watch and don't bother with the troublesome business of reasoned and rational dissemination. The surveillance cameras are on virtually every street corner(at least in Airstrip one..sorry the UK),don't worry they are for our own safety.

Is there any hope for the general population then?,do enough of us believe that the current state of affairs is distinctly unhealthy?.I personally believe that we have not reached the tipping point quite yet, although the mass jingoism that accompanied the London Olympics made me despair somewhat,we need to put the toys away, learn how to truly communicate with each other again and use the most potent force known, the human mind,to rationalise our actions.

Even the most conditioned of the dogs will bite if they are pushed too far (I hope). But in the meantime, the masking tape is still covering the webcam, just in case....

I explained it in the first post, I can't really expand on it any more. You wrote one line too...

Did not read the rest, but one time at an internet cafe I was suddenly watching myself live on the screen, being accused of something terrible, visiting some very criminal sites, which I was not. So now I make it a point to always turn the cameras away. It was horrid.

People keep telling me "If you are not a criminal or terrorist, you have nothing to fear". I agree with that statement in our current governmental form, but History has shown how rapidly governments can change in emergency situations. Regardless of whether Googles motto is "Dont be evil", if the overall situation changes then all the tools for total surveillance are already in place and the populace habituated.

And to that i would say, "If i am a free man, then there will be no one watching me." This statement is a direct indictment of the state of Amerika.

I guess ATS has had that effect on me, over the years.

Honestly,if anyone were to hack into my webcam to watch, they would be bored to tears within minutes....But...I still cover it up... Again...Just in case.

*whew*

Glad I'm not the only one!

haha same here. But what to do about my cable box.., there's gotta be a camera in there somewhere too right? and in my new flat screen, and probably my game console as well?

I barely ever even use my web cam, I should just unplug it.

Don't even get me started on Facebook and other social media sites and apps.

Very hard for anyone to use my webcam to spy on me,
considering my laptop has no webcam bulit in, i have to plug my o'l
Logitec webcam in the USB port for it to work, and right now its 1/2 way across
the room. They may track using google and others, but that is about as far as
they can go. As far as video.. not gona happen on any of my systems, im not a fan
of built in webcam's.

LoL I thought it was only me that did that and that I was paranoid.

Honestly though, I'm surprised no one has yet created a virus that allows remote access to a laptops webcam and then films people while they're watching porn - then the perps use it to blackmail the victim.

And no, that's NOT why I've taped over my webcam!!!

I have learnt to remove the battery of my cellphone when not in use after I learnt it could still be triggered and traced when switched off.
Thanks all for the heads up on the webcam. Have a look at this....amazing:~

I already have tape over my webcam, just to keep hackers from watching. I never take chances unless I have backup plans, and several of them.

The question is, what is the intention of those agencies which are watching us.

Id be less worried about governments hacking your stuff and more worried about perverts lol....seriously the government doesn't have the time to watch everyone all day long....they would be bored as hell.

S&F Good topic. I've said many times, it's going to get worse.

The tech will become increasingly harder to detect & invasive. It's already beyond what Orwell could have imagined. And the tech the general public knows about has already been surpassed.

what makes you think you will always know when the camera is active?
