Just thought i would add my 2 cents, back in 2006 Apple came out with the all seeing screen. It gives them the ability to take pictures from your computer screen. Given that this was in 2006, and if you guys know some things about computers which I'm sure you all do, than you know that in 6 years they could easily come up with a screen that could constantly monitor your every move.

Apple's all-seeing screen We could soon see a new kind of display screen from computer maker Apple - one that simultaneously takes pictures while showing images. The clever idea is to insert thousands of microscopic image sensors in-between the liquid crystal display cells in the screen. Each sensor captures its own small image, but software stitches these together to create a single, larger picture.

Apple's all seeing eye.

No web cam.
I have a mic, but it's only plugged in when I need it.
I don't own a damn cell phone.
No GPS in my car (but it squeaks so bad, they'd track me that way).

I've shopped at Amazon, but the only thing that would tell them is that I like SciFi and Popcorn.

My Google search history? They'd wonder if I was a conspiracy nut.
I'm on ATS, so that would confirm that I'm a conspiracy nut (at least in their eyes).

Mostly though, they'd find me a very boring person to watch or monitor, hehehehe.

You know... this thread clearly shows the thin line between conspiracy theory and delusional thinking...

Really you dont have to run to the hills... and no, the germans are not coming. You can now come out of hiding or... from seclusion or whatever paranoid hermits call it.

But I gotta admit this is pretty funny to read... its almost as fun as a discovery show (or national geographic - cant remember) called "preppers". Now those guys take the cake on being utter loons.

Me too DirtyLiberalHippie I have a smiley face blue sticker over my webcam and only take it off to talk on it... I have been having some type of sticker or tape on there for like 4 years and when I had a stationary webcam I had it turned around facing the wall. Guess us paranoid ATS'ers have a certain ability to see the evil potential beforehand.

If this is talking about what it seems it is. Then this isn't new news at all, it's been a while since the government had the capabilities to track everyone every movement. If its on the internet, you can guarantee they know about it too. Granted no one likes this, but again, it has no serious harm. It probably has more good than bad in this. Although, one slight issue, deleting your history no longer has any use

You aren't the only one the only time I ever had mine facing me, was when I was actually using it with friends. On my laptop on the other hand, I have weak black tape over it. Works just as well

Interesting theory. Those technologies are an imaginatively subtle way of persuading people to enjoy surveillance of ones person. These types of surveillance could be in effect now.

I would just like to add that the door swings both ways with this technology. If the plebeians became sufficiently annoyed they could wreck havoc guerrilla style. I hope both sides use these powers reasonably and fairly.

People keep telling me "If you are not a criminal or terrorist, you have nothing to fear". I agree with that statement in our current governmental form, but History has shown how rapidly governments can change in emergency situations. Regardless of whether Googles motto is "Dont be evil", if the overall situation changes then all the tools for total surveillance are already in place and the populace habituated.

Being able to spy on anyone means being able to control anyone. Most people may be "boring" or as docile as Big Brothers want them, but those who are not can be tracked, monitored and followed. Privacy is a part of what makes someone an individual instead of part of the hive-mind collective.
