I too, like most ATS'ers do not have all the cool gizmo's

but I do not think that this is a now type of war being fought..

its a long con..

as each generation comes up..

more & more will accept & be apart of the "system"

I also think the overall plan is slow and incremental. You cant institute massive change against peoples best interests in an open or rapid manner. It has to be very, very slow and people have to love it.

There are entire porn sites dedicated to "voyeurism", even if the "hidden camera" is not hidden at all to the paid actors.

That is probably right.

My oldest son has always been prone to romantic whimsy. He will go through countless gyrations trying to create the perfect set up to meet his romanticized notions of how life should be. This has led him to spend more money than he earned taking lifeguard lessons 2 YEARS IN A ROW. Being a lifeguard seemed romantic to him and he sought it out regardless of how morose an idea it was.

One time, when he was in 4th grade, we went to a fairly nice restaurant. The wife and I ordered prime rib, he ordered chicken strips along with his younger brother. To drink, however, he ordered grapefruit juice. My head whipped around and I said, "um, no.....grapefruit juice is horrible and you won't drink it." He insisted he would, so I gave him what he asked for.

Throughout the meal he would not admit how horrible it was. He would just sip on it and pretend to not be choking it down. He drank maybe 2oz of the glass. And never would admit he screwed up, because he knew the "i told you so" would sting (and i had it ready for him, too).

This is normal for people. I am sure you are familiar with it a "cognitive dissonance". Once you are tricked once, you keep going back to it to support your belief that you make good decisions.

It doesn't bother me at all. I don't own a webcam, or a cell phone or anything that could be used to invade my privacy, and I never will.

i also cover my webcam.. but thinking of it now, if someone was really hell bent on spying on you wouldn't an old fashion window work just as well? funny how most computers are running windows and you can remote access webcams lol

However, I don't cover my built-in cam on the laptop that has one. I don't really do anything wrong, and don't have any reason to worry. I have an Android, but it's rooted, and runs an AOSP version of Ice Cream Sandwich. GPS stays off, unless needed. I guess I'm slightly less paranoid than the rest of us, but I'm also a low-profile target.

Notwithstanding, down the road, I'm sure they could pull a log of all the things I research on the internet, and use it against me, if they wanted to.

It's a catch-22 in the end. Either you use the internet, keeping your nose clean, (or *cough* cleverly hiding behind proxy) or you don't. I prefer to stay connected constantly, and stay informed. It's a trade-off.

Yep, my webcam films the inside of my computer draw! Boring. Whilst I understand the enforced cautiousness of all of us here, I actually think that most companies trying to track what we do are doing it because they want to sell to a wider market. Its how the info is intercepted and later used that matters. Every time you go on the internet, unless you're a real guru, they'll get something from you. iPhones and others of that ilk are far more dangerous.

i never send emails so it would be pointless trying to 'track' me

i live in ireland. i have a few subversive friends who have taught me all about spyware, surveillance, anti surveillance. im very aware where the camera's are on the streets. traffic camera's-police camera's more like- are'nt just used for traffic purposes. every time i send a text or make a call i erase the details immediately.
we dont have a secret service here, its all police.
i survived perfectly well before all the technology already mentioned was available-and i'll be perfectly alright without it.
