I feel like this woman is trying to get on the train and doing a HUGE disservice to people who were actually legitimately molested by this man, causing real trauma. If this is classic molestation, then every girl walking home from the bar at 2:00am getting their ass slapped has been molested.

I did see somewhere could have been a clip from a Louis Theroux interview...something

was said about wasn't he worried about rumours that had been circulating about him? And

he replied he would take them down ( press?? person??
) and would they be prepared

for the 'charaties' he suported to loose millions'!

I have also read that he cheated in many of his marathons........

Why do I see a 19 year old laughing instead of someone getting molested?

Blonde Sylvia, 19, can be seen shrieking and struggling to escape while creepy Savile smirks: “I tell you something, a fella could get used to this, as it ’appens, he really could get used to it.”

Typical sun BS
edit on 27-10-2012 by aivlas because: (no reason given)

Shes laughing because its embarrassing and awkward given its LIVE. Imagine someone from the news starts filming you and some celebrity like tom cruise comes and shoves their hand down your pants, most likely you will do the same rather than hit a celebrity and look like a fool.

Are you insane? no you would go "wtf are you doing, you now pay me or your going down" while you walk to the camera and yank the film.

I don't often agree with you, and I do find the arrogance with which men behaved back then sickening, but...

Although this freak undoubtedly caused a lot of pain and suffering to genuinely young and innocent kids, I feel there is a lot of BS being stirred up here, with people viewing the standards of the time in a context of today's moral codes.

Back then, racism, homophobia and sexism were PANDEMIC, throughout British life, including the BBC. Men treated women like objects, far more than they do today. I believe that there are a lot of 18 and up women (back then) coming forward to say they were "molested" by the guy, when in actual fact they were young women who experienced a dirty old man who felt like he had a right to get a grope. That's not an excuse, but they were adults with the ability to act, a child is not an adult and doesn't have the self empowerment or fully formed mentality to understand what has happened. That is a major difference.

Female presenters have come forward to say that this was the culture at the BBC back then, and women were routinely groped by male colleagues.

It's wrong, it's disgusting, but that was the social situation back then and we cannot look at that through the moral eyes of today! There were no equality laws like there are now, no processes for complaints, no improper sexual conduct courses the BBC could make a presenter sign up to when someone complained. That was not how society was, and it's time people accepted that, feel bad about it for a moment, and the move the F on!

Yes, there should be answers about the genuinely under age kids he seemingly abused, but a 19 year old woman HAS THE CHOICE TO WALK AWAY. That doesn't mean he was excused, or that he should have been allowed to get away with it, it just means that things were different then, but that these girls always had the chance to leave and make a report of a crime having taken place.

The headline to this is misleading, she was 19, not a child, and they're trying to hype up the media frenzy by portraying her as equal to a small child, she's clearly not!

.

The urge to kick you in the head is enormous.

Now, put yourself in the girls position instead of wishing you were the guy who was doing it. Which doesn't say much about you.

I have to assume you are trollin'.

From above poster:

Yes, this the excuse people cover themselves with and conveniently also allows people to not have to confront the people who do it. Particularly if the social paradigmn castigates a person for not capitulating. Who do you think would be attacked under the circumstance if she even had the social training to punch him in the throat? People would (and still do) make it okay for him, and every action she has available will cause her grief.

This is somehow a "choice." Capitulation is the only choice.

Reporting this stuff as a crime is a joke, and treated as such even now.

Part of the issue is that some of these guys legitimately cannot (and have no interest learning to) read body language.

When a woman/girl/boy is just trying to get through the moment and escape with the least amount of social waves, they see enjoyment. Essentially they read everything other than the aforementioned punch in the throat as being an invitation. They don't see discomfort, or read it as just the person playing games with how much they want it.

The mindset is really entirely strange.

What was the name of that show called? Molest my child? Nothing like molesting a child on the air and getting away with it. That guy is sick, sick, sick.

Hmmm.. im starting to wonder if this is being brought up by the media in an attempt to make it look like many of the other cases that have been filed against Mr Saville are also just people looking to make some easy money
.

It obvious this perv has other pervy friends in high places. Is this being focused on to take the attention away from the real child molesting that this guy might have done. While people are arguing about if this was bad or not they are not thinking about the truly awful cases that might have happened.

Thread title

'Millions watched as Jimmy Saville molested me'

How is that misleading?? That is exactly what he did!!...and an audience watched!!

molest...to disturb, interfere with, annoy, subject to unwanted, improper sexual behaviour

and no mention is made of age in the title?

I'm shocked by the number of people on here who seem to think it's acceptable to put your hand up a woman's skirt without her permission. If a 40 year old man did that to my younger sister I'd kick his head in. Some very creepy people on here.

As for Savile, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. There's been rumours on crackpot websites (like this one
) of some sort of "paedophile ring" in the elite of society, the government etc. It seems as though there could be some truth in this - Ken Clarke MP has already been accused of indecent behaviour towards a young boy and there's strong rumours about former Prime Minister Ted Heath as well. And there are apparently many more people in the entertainment world being investigated by police as part of the Savile investigation. I suspect that we'll be thrown a few sacrificial lambs and then the story will be brushed over though - we already know the police are corrupt as they ignored files on Savile for years and I wouldn't trust the press to follow the story through right to the true elites either. I just feel sorry for the victims, even now some people don't believe them ("she enjoyed it!", "they're only in it for the compensation money!" etc) - I hope this story encourages other victims to come out and name the sick bastards that abused them.

This is one of the most scarey posts I've ever seen on ATS. There seems to be a distinct divide between opinions as well. I was in my twenties and thirties at that time and I knew as well as anyone what was right and wrong and what Savile did was very wrong. Age aside, that girl in the OP video is distressed, tries to hide it, probably worried that mums, dads and mates will see it. Anybody who was friends with royalty was not just untouchable but was a god in those days, TV celebs were far more feared than now and women and more so children who spoke of sexual abuse were told they were asking for it or imagined it. Women of the time would not be so self-assured nor sure that the public would back them. Combined with the fortunes So-vile used to raise for charity, you have an impenetrable wall of silence. This would have caused a major major scandal. It has never been right to abuse anyone and I think we knew it just as well then as now, the thing is, it was easier to get away with if you were that way inclined.

The man who thinks a woman wants to be abused, or "paid attention to" as the neanderthal brain might perceive it is sincerely kidding himself.

As I think there were many more than one who thought so, some really big (hmmm) heads will roll shortly. Let's hope I'm right.

Really? So your going to "label" what happened to this girl, and at least 200 other victims as an "innocent" slap on the ass as you call it? I'm at a loss for words here, I guess slapping woman in the ass is perfectly acceptable to you if they are minding thier own buisness and walking home......dangerous and stupid perhaps, but not an invitation to touch her, and slap her ANYWHERE....tells me alot about how you think.....

And to all your fellow thinkers. Tell your mum that, who should be the most respected person in your life. Tell your sisters for whom you should have been the protector and guardian. Tell your daughters for whom you fear, whom you have loved and cared for for all those years that all this is OK and a bit of fun. I couldn't and wouldn't dream nor believe in telling mine, I love and respect them far far too much.

You are not a man in the ethical sense of the word. nor those who agree with you.
