I can see that bringing the phone could be a good thing.

Someone gave me a heads up on this awhile ago so I am going to share it.

artofmanliness.com...

Using a cellphone for survival purposes.

Now that is cool!

Then you be bumming big time. If your bugging out your bugging with your bag LOL.

My BOB is a back pack with my survival gear. But I'm not going anywhere. Now if we had no choice its buig out with bag or I dont bug out period.

DOGS
BOBag
OLDLADY
KIDS

B DOK

One word means we got ten minutes to get what we can and get out and be ready to leave by any means available.

With this I stand the best chance of survival.

I got an eighteen foot boat, a fifteen foot boat, a 12 foot boat, and a 17 foot canoe. I'd just fill them up with stuff and tie them into a caravan.
Oh yeah, have a little blow up boat and a big air mattress also. Don't worry, there won't be a big flood around here, I got a boat insurance policy, if you're prepared, it will never happen.
We haven't had a long power outage since I got the generators working.

Well, I was trying to play the game as a novice, LOL!

I've got a quick EDC that goes everywhere with me. I've got my truck and my jeep already prepped in case I'm caught away from home. And at home, I've got a small briefcase (actually gun case) size BOB, and I've got the Duffel Bag sized BOB.

With 10 minutes notice, I could easily have the dog, the kids, the wife, all 3 bags, and a handful of other items into a boat and ready to survive 40 days and nights. Hell, I've got chickens, ducks, turtles, fish, and crabs, plus worms, crickets, and my neighbor's got bees. If I had 30 minutes notice, I'd have my own little Ark!

And, my house floods about 3 times per year already, so we've also got sandbags, and we've built retaining walls around key stuff like the A/C unit, and we have a floating dock on the pond behind the house. We'd probably bug in instead of out.

Kudos on the "word" too! My family has a family password as well. You can't even trust teachers and family members these days. The kids know that anyone without the word is not someone they are allowed to leave with, no matter how authoritative they might seem. Good stuff.

You may need to tow a few small boats behind for the animals. Revamp the chicken coup into an ark.

Hahaha! It has wheels, but it doesn't have pontoons. Now you've got me thinking, LOL!

Empty water barrels. You'll never regret stocking a few empty water barrels. Why not use it to make pontoons, or at the very least, floats?

My bug out bag has everything I need in it.
Thats all I would grab because I am already packed for an emergency.

Have your bag ready and you won't have to choose 3 items.
Plan ahead.

Unless it is a forest fire, I am not that worried about something happening where I will need to leave my property speedily. I live in a very stable area for earthquakes, although one can hit anywhere nowadays. Tornadoes are rare here but they do occur, hopefully they stay away from my house. If we get ten feet of snow, I will be too busy shoveling the roofs to leave. We wouldn't be able to leave anyway if it was snowing that much. If there is an epidemic, I will just stay home and have food to last a month or so. We have good firemen around here. We also have sensible police in this area, a plus that others may not share. National guard people here are locals and that is a plus. I feel we live in one of the best areas of the country here, even though the wages aren't that good. Cost of living is cheaper here also, that cancels it out. Who's leaving, I am not a scared rabbit, I was a boy scout who learned the meaning of "be prepared." Good luck to everyone if tshtf. It isn't going to hit the whole country at once. If you are in a high risk area, ask yourself why you live there. Family is the only viable excuse in my book
