It's like the Rapture thing, people were actually convinced it was coming and sold their houses and spent all their money.

Bernard's thread about the coming of aliens got to 49 pages, that's a lot of interest for something that sounded pretty over the top.

If I remember correctly,in the god threads some Americans were actually telling 'god ' off for capitalising the I.

Has ATS ever done a best HOAX competition? If not, there should be one. It could be fun. Most believable wins.

Personally the best one I think is the D4RK KN1GHT thread about all the doom and gloom that was supposed to happen last October. That thread was brought up so much, the poor dead horse was not only kicked, but beaten, stabbed, shot, and i think even run over a couple times. I wonder what ever happened to that O.P. :-)

My favorite troll/hoax threads are the ones where someone claims to have some very important pictures or information during their OP but explain they will provide it later...it always turns into a flame-fest and the information or pictures are rarely revealed and if they are they turn out to be absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, and the "I'm a Scientist" thread was a good one too
