So as a french I'll give you my point of view : yes, you should be interested by those polls (or should I say "by polls about what the world think about your elections"), nowadays the world turn around diplomacy and it's never a good thing to be seen as a prick by your allies.
I remember back when Chirac decided not to follow Bush Jr in Middle East, the anti-french vibe was huge (and no, I'm not talking about freedom fries) it took us a Sarkozy to straighten that up (and damn, what a price to pay).

The problem about Romney isn't that he'll bring America on its feet, to be honest I'd rather have the USA as the n°1 superpower than China as I've got way more common points with americans than chinese, culturally speaking. His problem from my point of view is that he's made of the same wood as Bush, a guy that'll give more power to the powerfuls and less to the others, the kind of guy that'll try to start a war right after he finished the last one, the type of person that'll keep bringing "commies" and "socialists" to the discution as insults (I saw a few on the first pages that should get out of their cocoon once in a while).
From my point of view he seems a bit rude, not as rough as Bush Jr but you know... the kind of guy that'll be all smile in front of important people and cameras and turns out to be some rude/scornful prick when he's not under the spotlights.

I'm not fond of Obama but I feel closer to him as he seems to be less of a show-off as Romney, I liked the fact that he fought to bring a more serious healtcare to the USA which is for me something great as I think our governments must be able to provide a decent protection to its citizens. I don't really understand why you'll be opposed to that (and to welfare) as I think every country powerful enough should give to its people the means to be cured or to be able to live decently while looking for a job, it times like these it can be a matter of life or death for some people.
I don't mean to judge, it's my personnal feeling, but I think you can't call yourself great if you 're not good enough to give a hand to the people under your roof when they are in need.

Anyways, I'm not voting and whoever wins I don't think it'll change anything in my life.

Absolutely agree on Romney, I also feel he's probably a prick behind the scenes, although Bush seemed like a cool enough guy to hang out with he was just not the brightest bulb on the tree and clearly his father ran that presidency. Also clearly since Romney is a bigot, not for women's equality, and favors tax cuts for himself and the rest of the rich I don't side with him. I also have the same feelings when dealing with Obama, all politicians should be taken with a grain of salt but like you said he seems much more personable and genuine. His strides on healthcare are one of the best things to happen to America in recent time, at least in my eyes. I also favor him because he is for equality, I'm a married man, but believe men and women should be allowed to marry whoever they want and receive equal pay and treatment. I view America as being great, maybe that's why I also think like you said we should help people, that's what great people do, they help people who are less fortunate then them. They don't shove everything into a vault and act like equity is the meaning of life and death that is clearly the ideals of a tycoon not a president, not in my eyes. Again thanks for the contribution, I expected the replies from the fearmonging republicans, what I wanted but didn't expect was your reply. Thanks.

Romney was pro-abortion and even donated to Planned Parenthood .. until it became politically good for him to be 'pro life'. But no matter if a candidate is prolife or proabortion .. no POTUS can change what the Supreme Court has ruled. Abortion is a personal opinon and isn't a campaign issue no matter how much people try to make it out to be.

- Corruption and lies .. same/same.
- Lobbiests and special interests ... same/same
- Wars and bombing others .. same/same
(except Romney LUVS Israel and Obama hates it)

I'm not seeing much daylight between the two when it comes to the big issues that they can actually do something about.

What about Israel, and let's not forget, the only poll that matters is the USA.

Gay Rights...The repeal of don't ask dont tell? The first POTUS to publicly endorse gay marriage. Healthcare reform? Obamacare? Romneycare?...whatever it is Romney has promised to repeal it DAY 1. Womens's rights? Lilly Ledbetter? It goes on and on...

"they both are the same" seems to be the closest an idealogue can come to switching sides. Where they become so disillusioned with thier parties nominee that the most their throbbing idealogical drive will accomodate is ..."ef it...they are both the same"...it's the bottom floor of the tower of babble for an idealogue....why not just leave the building? rather than do the mental gymnastics required to take two of the most radically different candidates in recent history and work to call them identical?

Healthcare? Taxes? Women's issues? Gay rights? Military? Energy? Financial regulation? Social Security? Education? Immigration? ...these guys are on different sides of the fence on EVERYTHING.

When Bush was president the world hated us because of Gitmo, rendition, drone strikes and arrogance. Yet, now we're supposed to accept that they like is even though all these same policies are in place? In some cases, escalated?

If the world wants President Obama, they are more then welcome to have him wreck their economies too. Heck you can even give him another Nobel Prize if you take him. I think he would be a fine addition to any other country other than the U.S.

I hate to say it, but it's pretty narrow minded and selfish not to care what other people on Earth think.

Because of globalization, we have to deal more and more with foreign governments. We need someone that other leaders of the world get along with to secure trade deals, and create jobs to help the economy.

I don't think that Americans should vote for someone just because the world thinks they should, but I think it should play a part of their decision making process.

The only thing I can say to either side is, nice CHOICE! Is it really YOUR choice, since you were given so much to choose from? If you were out to choose evil, you've made the right choice!

That's probably because he has denied any connection with Kenya.
To be serious for a moment (which is rather hard to do, since this is a meaningless thread), given the current economies of the European nations, I don't think that the citizens there have much common sense. After all, look at the mess they are in, and misery likes company.. Four more years of Obama, and the US will look like Greece.
