Meteor? Or...

Was watching www.meteorscan.com... and it seems to be really going off..

But it's a long trail..

Can anyone explain why the feed is trailing and not spiking?

That is quite a disturbance. I thought a little spike indicated a little meteor. Maybe this is just a rather large one with a flaming tail.

What is weird is when you have something hit the radar like this it drops off really fast.

But this is constant. Which is really really weird.

I don't think a shower would look like this. It should be all over the place not 1 long trail...

Plus we past the Orionids already..

So hopefully someone can explain whats up.

I have no idea what is going on.

I can report that I just spent 10 minutes staring at the night sky and it is all clear here in Mid. TN.

I wonder what it's like right now for Costa Rica??

It died out then came back.
Most likely a piece of equipment has gone bad, is out of calibration, or something local is interfering with that frequency.

Is this a global monitor? It might just be in England. I tried to find out on their website but couldn't. Maybe someone can figure it out.

An extended signal is due to what's called a "tropo lift," which is a period of increased tropospheric propagation. The VHF signals are received via tropospheric propagation, so an increase ("lift") in that propagation increases the baseline. Normally, that baseline is the blue region at the bottom, but during these "lifts" it shows as a continuous signal like the one seen at the moment.

The link is fixed.

The "lift" is just what the increase in conditions is referred to as. Propagation can be increased by any number of conditions (such as temperature) in the Troposphere.

Okay I see, thanks, there could be any number of different reasons for this to occur depending on variables in the Troposphere. Thanks for the clarification.
