Turkey is one of five European nations that continue to house U.S. tactical nuclear weapons allocated for NATO. The weapons, however, are no longer integral to the NATO military mission. In fact, their readiness posture is such that it would take months to prepare them for battle. Nonetheless, it will be difficult to remove them from Turkey given Ankara's concerns about the Iranian nuclear program and its somewhat strained relationship with the United States.
so yeah they have been there for a long time but the Turks dont have the authorization to use them with out usa approval(if that ) and as they are not readied for action i dont think them storing our weapons as a nato member is that relevant to modern events

www.globalresearch.ca...

talks about how Italy,Germany,Belgium, turkey and the Netherlands are defacto nuclear powers due to the weapons based in their countries(whole different process required to use them then normal) japan is pretty much the same way but its pretty much well known that if the japanese wanted them they could make them in a few months if not for treaty and constitutional limitations

This is nothing. Think of all the subs with nukes we have stationed off the coast of foreign countries.

This is fantastic news... Now lets just make sure they know how to use them

Under NATO nuke sharing agreements, they most certainly do. As does Germany and all other NATO states in which they're based.

All appear to be coming from the same source, but this is quiet the slip isn't it? (Although it was predicted in the Bible that Damascus would be levelled, and Turkey borders Syria) Although, I doubt these are intended for Syria because even if Chemical Weapons are used on their own people, it would be a conventional military intervention.

What do you guys think>?

I think instead of making misleading thread titles, you should actually DO YOUR RESEARCH before posting CRAP.

Those nukes have been in Turkey, and Germany, and Italy, and Greece, and others, for decades.
Some have been removed from some countries because they aren't needed anymore since the end of the Cold War, some have remained, like those in Turkey.

The US retains full control of them. They can not be used by Turkey without the US giving them the green light and without the US providing the keys and codes.

It is part of a NATO program.

Pointless thread, waste of bandwidth.

THIS IS NOT NEW!!!!! The US had had nukes in Turkey (and other NATO countries) for decades. Its part of the Nuclear umbrella. It also keeps a lot of NATO allies from having to develop their own nukes because they are covered.

Exactly!
Just how ignorant are people?
Better yet, just how lazy are people to not do their own research?
Just goes to show, that even on a forum like ATS where most people think they are intelligent and individuals rather then brainwashed sheep who sit in front of tv believing everything FOX etc spit out, they are in fact no better then the rest of society.

What we have here is some guy posting some article, about the US replacing ageing nukes in a host country.
He puts up a misleading title, to make it appear as if the US is deploying nukes for the first time to this country.

And then we get comments like "Putin wont be happy"....

FFS!!

I agree. Also one key point is as soon as you start considering yourself intelligent in such a way that you consider yourself an authority, then that is the point at which you become less relevant
. One should always seek more knowledge.
