In the past five years the number of Connecticut gun owners has shot up 57%.

Apparently this is just a teaser article for a more detailed report to come later in the week.

Given how the teaser is worded I wouldnt expect a fair report with such fear inducing phrases as:

Why are more and more of your neighbors arming themselves?
and:

News 8 Anchor Darren Kramer has your back by examining this new trigger trend.

They're making it sound like a problem that should concern you.

Maybe they are thinking, "Get em while you still can!"

Possible. CT is already operating under Clinton era AWB rules though so they would have to be expecting something even more intrusive than another AWB if that was their motivation.

I think it is funny that they are seeing increased gun sales in what is a classically liberal state.

With Obama at the reins, the exact opposite of what they want is happening.

I don't think gun ownership increased in the Upper Peninsula over the last twenty years, I think it went down. At one time almost every home here had at least one gun, now it has gone down to about sixty percent of homes that have a gun. In case of an emergency, a lot of fathers have extra guns to give to their children up here though. That is Yooper preparedness. Saving for the future.
