ATS Has A Chat Room - USE IT!

Amazing... I was in there the other day, and i'm pretty sure that someone mentioned an idiot that was in just before I entered... hmmm.... odd coincidence.

I just logged into chat for the first time a few minutes ago (logged out now). Nobody was there. Okay one person came there and was immediately gone. I don't even know how it works. I've never done a live chat- I only e-mail, Skype, or telephone.

I'm showing my age, aren't I?

Has the issue been fixed where people with _ in their name, can't get in?

You need at least 150 posts to use our live chat.

Well, I'm at home now, and I can not connect from here either. Error Message ""Sorry, your browser is not Java enabled".

The following client configurations do not seem to work:

- Windows XP SP3 32bit using Firefox 15.x
- Linux Debian based 32bit OS using either Chromium or Firefox 16.x

Judging by the people reporting issues in this very thread, it looks like the problem is rather wide spread. No wonder the Chatroom is abandoned most of the time.

I'll look into the issue a little bit more and report back when I find out something useful. Just reading the support pages from parachat.

Yeah, I don't know what the issue would be honestly, it makes no sense to me.

The issue is it is broken.

Fix it so it will work with Safari.

You fix it, then I'll come in. When i click it it ask me to abide by T&C i accept then it goes to gray screen.

These are known issues and we screamed about it at first, but gave up as it's been what half a year or more, and they never fixed it.

Well, I'm at least. Apparently I did miss a plugin, so here's a possible fix for the Linux users, using a Debian based distribution:

sudo aptitude install icedtea-6-plugin

You may have to use the icedtea-7-plugin, depending on your operating system.

There should be a matching counterpart for the Windows users. Look into the Mozilla KB how to install the Java browser plugin for your Operating System, or in the Microsoft KB if you use Internet Explorer.

I have only been in CHAT a few times, and never found any conversation that I could latch onto. I just tried to get into CHAT, just now, and I get a Google Chrome error message.

I did it! I made it into chat...and there's actual people. well, not real live people, but there's chatting happening.

Use it, don't lose it!

The chat isn't really that rewarding - I'm no longer allowed to post there, because it's the equivalent of the 9/11 forum...one toe out of line, and you're gone.

And I made a point of showing that I don't entirely adhere to authoritarian rule on the internet. It's no matter, the forums are far more educational in my view anyway.

What is this "chat room" you speak of?

How does it work? Do I get ats points, stars, or flags? I never cared about such nonsense until I joined ATS.

Are there refreshments in this room? Cookies, donuts, coffee..........maybe beer.

Is there a smoking area?
