Well, I guess you're an expert but I believe I'll post what I decide is an issue and not what you tell me to.

Is that alright with you?

Btw...many other posters here think the same as I do.

Peace

That is what my question was... pretty much....

I'm not an EQ expert.... but:

...a M5.3 for 60 secs vs, for example, a M6.3 for 8 secs... big diff, I would say.

and... a shallow M5.3 vs, for example a deep M5.3... Again... the depth of the quake can change everything.

or maybe I'm just out of it and these factors are really not as important as I'm making them out to be(??)

Anyway, IMO- this is why I suspect we are talking about it here in this thread.... to get a better scope/idea of what actually happened.

There are two main problems. One is the mainstream media likes to instill fear in the hearts and minds of people. I bet the same is true in other states with other natural occurrences. There can be a tiny 3.0 EQ and it's all over the news, they interview people and ask them how much they fear the "big one," Again I bet it's the same in states with tornadoes or hurricanes. I bet it's the same crap with people in other countries that live near volcanoes and the media goes crazy every time the mountain has a fart.
The other problem is the fact that most of you don't live here in Cali. I grew up in a non-EQ area of Cali and never experienced one until I moved to the bay area, I was always fearful of them and wondered why my wife wasn't when she grew up in the bay area and remembers the 1989 loma prietta quake....now I understand...they are few and far between and the couple here and there powerfull enough to feel are nothing. Sure a "big one" may come someday, but most I'll most likely never experience it.

Long story short, there is nothing to report, it's just the plates moving as they always do...and I'm tired of threads popping up all over every time the ground has a twitch.

if you are so tired of them why are you here, why do you respond? The thread poster is absolutely entitled to bring to the attention of others what ever they feel is an important issue. I spend plenty of time watching the daily events that happen on this planet and like to be informed. I might miss something. If you have nothing to say of value then don't be obnoxious about it, just treat others they way you would you would want to be treated. Have you started threads? Did you care for it when other people trashed you? I think not.
