My emotional side, which is the only side I will post here today, says that they should be given the harshest sentence in the Japanese judicional system - execution by hanging. There must be no mercy towards rapists, least of all when they are foreigners, soldiers, and guests in a foreign country.

Maybe we should wait until they're indicted and convicted first?

Just sayin'.

It really doesn't matter whether or not crimes in Okinawa are caused by US Soldiers or not.

They're US soldiers. They're not Japanese Citizens. Let's say that we had a Russian occupied base, near where you live. Let's pretend you have a daughter.

Your daughter is raped by two russian soldiers while she was walking home.

Tell me you wouldn't be screaming blue murder and blaming them because they are not of this country. It is a matter of the people running the base's ability to control their troops. In all technicality, we were taught that we were all 'representatives of our country' in a foreign land. I wouldn't want my image represented by these people.
