Do you honestly believe what you wrote in your reply?

If you do, then I guess that you don't understand how a successful business works.

Do you have any evidence of this occurring, let's say when Obama was elected in 2008? Or is it more like when Barbara Streisand 'promised' to leave the country if GW Bush was elected?

Romney is just about the scariest politician ever.

Is that a bad thing or a good thing? I can think of millions and millions of people around the world, and here at home, that I want to be afraid of us.

Why, based on the topic, do you find Romney scary? He didn't ask anyone to break a law. He didn't threaten anyone. If I understood it correctly, he basically said that "if Obama gets re-elected there will be even fewer jobs and industries will suffer. Tell that to your workers."

That's a scary politician?

He's part of the actual elite.

And his job at Bain capital could only be ran by somebody with NO conscious. He's a sociopath.

The seeds were planted long ago. It can be argued since the Watergate scandal there has been little faith in the political system. Many of the wounds this country sustained during the Vietnam era never went away. In fact, they can been seen playing out today. We have one set which wishes to see major social change while the other set maintains you have to play by the rules already made. This time no one is on '___' or shooting students at Kent state.

I think this is all coming down to Ohio or Colorado, where the candidates are polling two percentage points apart in some cases. I've been a Republican a long time (even though most people here think I am an evil socialist commie feminazi Satan spawn) , been involved with the party a long time. I can tell you this, the smart people on the ground don't want a repeat of 2000. It's not going to be simple riots. The country will be ungovernable. How do you govern a country in which half of the population will never accept your legitimacy? If they win the GOP will also likely lose the house. I think this is why the GOP didn't put out a very strong candidate this year. Romney isn't strong, with the economic situation being what it is this should be a slam dunk election, the fact that it isn't shows you how weak Romney is. It's not going to be simply half of the population either. A majority of the American people will see it as illegitimate.

But maybe that's what we need to finally wake people up and get serious reforms through. I have little hope of that actually happening though.

Oh, and just to make this ATS worthy material: mercury will be retrograde on Nov. 6th. The last time that happened during an election was 2000.

You know, my job has done the same thing, but it's pointless to bring it up. The Republicans and all their sister organizations ( Tea party, green, Libertarian etc. ) will just point out how the Democrats are doing something or other and not address the point of the whole OP

Read anything here on ATS. Obama could eat a baby and Dems defend it, the Repubs would condemn it, then Romney would eat a baby and the Dems would condemn it and the Repubs would say " Oh NOW it's bad", it's kind of ridiculous, but ATS makes good bank on this so I'll shut up and just say, YAY Obama, BOO Romney. Stars please

You mean Just like how Unions tell their workers to vote democrat or they will lose their job. This crap gets so friggen old after a while you liberals love to cherry pick the crap out of stuff like this.

How was this a secret? it was a town hall meeting, meaning that a bunch of people were talking to him. This wasn't a one on one call where Romney was whispering to anyone or anything.

I also never heard Romney say "make sure to tell your employees to vote for me" in any way shape or form. He said that you should talk to your employees about your political beliefs whether you support president Obama or Me.

Dear 3chainz,

Thanks for your answer. I was wondering whether his father was elite, or just Mitt. After all, George (his dad) did work his way up to become Governor.

So, if George was actually elite, he worked up to it from zero. That gives me some hope that anyone could do it. If George wasn't elite, then how did his son make it? It couldn't have been bloodline, or a dad that went to the right "elite" schools.

I realize now that I've gone way off topic. Feel free to ignore this if you want.

With respect,
Charles1952

I'm voting for Romney.

The family business use to pay only 50,000 in taxes. Now we are paying 200,000 in taxes. This is ridiculous. I hate Obama. It is killing us. We actually have more sells than previous years too. However, money is paid back much more slowly. So instead of having around one million dollars tied up, we now have 2.6 million dollars tied up while having to pay 200,000 in taxes

My mother is having to fight tooth and nail to keep employees paid. We could easily fire them, but she won't do it. Screw Obama. He wants to raise our taxes more. It would be easy to put 15 employees out on the street, if it happens. Blame Obama. My mother hasn't taken a pay check in 8 months trying to keep everyone employed.

Obama will be the ruin of this nation. If he is re-elected our taxes will go up to just over 300,000 according to what our accountant is saying. Including Obamacare.

Vote 3rd party.

Johnson seems to get it.
Electoral college should be put to vote (referendum or addendum to the Constitution) as well for it ensures corruption if the popular/mass vote count doesn't go the way of the globalists.

Oh please make this the next controversy. This is so tame and overhyped, this is almost as good as the week Barack Obama imploded talking about big bird.

Cutting big bird is a shame, especially when Romney plans to increase military spending.

Much ado about nothing, typical liberal BS, Romney never told them who to vote for, only to tell the employees the impact their vote has on their businesses. Not surprised to see people overreact and manipulating his words, it's hard to get any actual facts sometimes with all the spin

So I guess when Obama had supervisor's of federal employees instruct their employees to vote for Obama or be terminated is OK. It is amazing how dishonest, you left wing idiots continue to be. I guess when he looses the election you all will stomp your feet like 2 years olds and say how unfair it is. I am tired of your crap.

Do we have some actual numbers to back that story up with?

That sounds horrible, but was any of that actually documented beyond an ATS post?

Really? You must have never grown up watching Sesame Street. I kind of feel sorry for you man.

Here's some numbers from Forbes:

For fiscal year 2010, federal funding for PBS through CPB accounted for about 12% of PBS’ revenue. In terms of dollars, that works out to about $300 million. There’s not much wiggle room to be had: the money that actually goes to CPB is split according to a mostly statutory formula. For 2015, Congress has budgeted $445 million for CPB. That’s less than 1% of the budget. Way less. It’s about 1/100th of a 1%.

Forbes Article

Here's the practical low-down:

..."chances are, cuts to PBS won’t kill off Sesame Street and other major programming. What will happen, realistically, is that public television stations would have to find alternate sources of funding. Larger markets, like the one I live in now, would likely survive. But chances are that those smaller markets, like the one I used to live in, would have to shut off the lights. That is, of course, the irony, since those smaller markets are the very ones that PBS was intended to serve when it was created".

I'd rather make a few less missiles and keep Sesame Street in the homes of the smaller/rural markets to help our kids.
