It seems there are threads to spout incorrect information in an attempt to make the current Admin look bad, and the Usual Gullible People are Eating it up.

Numbers can be Swayed to tell you anything you want them to, heres a new angle . The Truth.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Today's welfare program is nothing like what it used to be. In the 16 years since President Clinton and Congress overhauled the nation's welfare system, the number of people receiving cash assistance has fallen by two-thirds. And public spending on the program has dropped by more than half.

Romney Supporters have no bottom to the depths of Low they will go to, but the Truth, is the Truth. money.cnn.com...

Yes, assistance paid in cash has dropped. How about the other forms of welfare that have taken the place of cash? Things like housing assistance, food stamps, day care, medicaid. These, and other programs have replaced actual cash payouts from welfare.

Cash assistance was cut because of the level of abuse that was taking place. They have since implemented other programs to replace some cash assistance that are not as easily abused, but cash payments are still made.

Right. Not to mention fuel assistance, free or reduced school lunch, free public transport, free gov cell phones, COBRA premium assistance, a huge increase of TAA/TRADE usage.

So what they gave less cash? They got everyone else paid for.

your correct.... welfare in all forms has increased by magnitudes

this fact is underscored by the truth coaxed out of the figures by Congress itself - not some vested interest

see:

..

The total sum taxpayers spent on federal welfare programs was derived from a new Congressional Research Service (CRS) report on federal welfare spending — which topped out at $745.84 billion for fiscal year 2011

No. friend... your attempting to look sat the complete picture with a microcope on just a single factor/item of the welfare dole

Clinton had the bonus of closing scores of military bases and the land/infrastructure being transferred to the local city/town/state government...

No wonder ! he essentially nationalized a Trillion dollars of property into cash for the economy --- who wouldn't have a surplus by releasing all that land (formally USA/Taxpayer supported resources) into a tax generating revenue source of income for the states & federal government) !

~it was a no brainer & he's spoken of as a president that created a budget surplus, a genius --- hogwash
he transferred assets that were paid for by generations of taxpayers onto the roles of tax liable/required property

he was a clown that got away with it... essentially money-from-nothing (but the intellectual mind knows differently)

How abour CORPORATE welfare bailouts? They have enough money to bail them damn selves out. Poor people don't have that option. I'd rather my money go towards a family and their kids having a meal than give billions to some rich pricks to ensure they still get their multi-million dollar ''bonuses''. I'd rather do that than give BILLIONS in financial aid to other countries, while our own citizens starve. Some people are beyond idiocracy.

Exactly. Corporate and banking welfare dwarfs any amount of money general welfare draws out of taxpayer's hands. There is just no comparison.

Actually bank bailouts have been taking place for about 100 years now, since the Federal Reserve came into power. George W. Bush was just doing what he was told to do, just like Obama does and may continue to, just like Romney will if he is elected. It has nothing to do with who is president.
