I believe that Titan orbits Saturn. The moon they find life on in the movie was orbiting Jupiter and I think it was Europa.
In Arthur C. Clarke's novel 2001: A Space Odyssey
, which was written the same time the film came out (the novel and film were both based on
Clarke's short story "The Sentinel") it WAS the Saturn system rather than the Jupiter system that the obelisk led them to.
Although it was Saturn in the book, the planet in the movie version changed from Saturn to Jupiter, mainly because the movie's special effects people
didn't think they could do a very convincing job with Saturn's rings.
Interestingly enough, Even though Clarke's first book had it as Saturn, he also changed it to Jupiter in the book's sequel to match the movie (rather
than matching his book version).
