In a 52-page complaint on behalf of its client, Solyndra, law firm Winston & Strawn is seeking to demonstrate violations of the Sherman antitrust laws in a $1.5 billion lawsuit.
Ten years ago, solar panels were made mostly in the United States, Germany, and Japan. Chinese manufacturers made almost none. But by 2006, the Chinese company Suntech Power had the capacity to make over a million silicon-based solar panels a year and was already the world's third-largest producer.....
The Chinese Solar Machine
The solar-power business is expanding quickly in the U.S., helping lift the cloud that has surrounded the industry since the demise of Solyndra LLC a year ago.
But the growth isn't coming from U.S. solar-panel manufacturing, despite the money and rhetoric devoted to the industry by the Obama administration. Instead, it is in installations of largely foreign-made panels, whose falling price has made solar more competitive with other forms of power.
"There should be little emphasis put on where the panels are made," said Lyndon Rive, chief executive of SolarCity Corp., which finances and installs rooftop solar systems. "Most of the jobs are in delivery and they're long-term, permanent jobs."..................
Fueled by Cheap Chinese Panels, U.S. Solar Use Soars
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday set steep final duties on billions of dollars of solar energy products from China, but turned down a request from lawmakers and U.S. manufacturers to expand the scope of its order.
Chinese solar manufacturers criticized the decision, adding more heat to the U.S.-China trade relationship following a congressional panel report on Monday urging American companies not to do business with two Chinese telecommunications companies because of security concerns.....
U.S. sets steep final duties on Chinese solar panels
Harry Reid’s state of Nevada has received stimulus money for two green energy plants which filed for bankruptcy after receiving federal loan guarantees under the stimulus program.
At the time these loans were awarded to these two companies it was well known the companies were in financial trouble and were expected to fold yet the money was awarded anyway in what appears to be an obvious instance of crony socialism designed to reward Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for his efforts to promote Barack Obama’s green energy initiative.
But wait, there’s more as can be seen here:
ENN is a Chinese based solar panel plant which is looking to build a $5 billion plant in, you guessed it, Nevada. Clark County officials approved the purchase of land in Nevada for the sum of $4.5 million even though the land was valued at almost $40 million.
Harry Reid then pressured NV Energy, the largest power company in Nevada, to become ENN’s first customer. Did he do this to ensure the company would be able to build in his state, or is there some other reason Harry Reid took such a vested interest in the company?.....
Harry Reid’s son involved in a Chinese solar panel company that received a sweetheart land deal in Nevada, while Harry Reid pressured NV Energy to become a customer
Chinese companies sold solar panel modules and products well below production costs, with dumping margins between 60 and 80 percent.

I say a deeper agenda was in play.
I think the Administration knew the Chinese would lower prices.
I think the plan all along was to fill the pockets of Obama cronies.

That would be because Bush earmarked the money for Solyndra, not Obama.
Sheesh.

Then why didn't Obama & Co. take steps to ensure success Before they decided to give money away ?
The main point was supposed to be green energy.
The cheaper panels apparently created more sales and therefore created more long term work.
