Those are the old dimensions. they can be 170X240 now.
Avatars

Maximum pixel dimensions: 170 pixels wide by 240 pixels high.

Maximum file size: Remains 75k

Because the layout parameters for page structure is different than the old per-2010 format, overly-tall avatars can make the thread-view a very-tall page.

TY though. I actually want to attempt using my brand spanking new photoshop. It probably won't go well, but I think it's fun anyway.
