Michelle declared this on a radio show recently......

According to First Lady Michelle Obama, appearing on Pablo Sato’s show on WPGC 95.5 in Washington, D.C., “we are seeing right now that we are in the midst of a huge recovery. Right? Because of what this president has done.” Not only is the recovery huge, Michelle said, it’s so huge that all of his opponents should sit down and shut up: “And when you see all of that truth, it’s hard to understand why are people blocking this? Why are people talking about not raising taxes on wealthy people? Why is it that people don't want to fight to make sure that veterans have job opportunities?”

In point of fact, this is the weakest recovery in American history. ......................

Michelle: Barack Brought 'Huge Recovery'

I think she was referring to the recovery that has taken place for certain people but not the average citizen.

For example, the big corporations doing international business have indeed "recovered" (if they ever had a problem to begin with).

The oil companies have certainly "recovered".

The stock market in general has recovered big time.

The part time jobs have recovered and so have the low wages

Unemployment in general has Not REALLY recovered has it ?

Food Stamps are at an all time high.

Poverty is at an all time high.

Median Household Income has dropped by more than $4,000.

etc. etc.

The Presidential race is boiling down to one dominant issue: which party's policies will do more to help the financially stressed American middle class. President Obama's campaign theme is that Mitt Romney and the Republicans cater to the rich, while Mr. Obama cares about struggling families.............

The Obama years have been brutal on middle-class incomes

While a majority of jobs lost during the downturn were in the middle range of wages, a majority of those added during the recovery have been low paying, according to a new report from the National Employment Law Project. ....

Majority of New Jobs Pay Low Wages, Study Finds

The number of Americans who live within 125 percent of the federal poverty level is expected to reach an all-time high of 66 million in 2012, the Associated Press reports. A family of four at 125 percent of the poverty level — the threshold for legal aid and other government assistance programs — makes $28,800 a year, according to government data. Faced with stagnant wage growth and high unemployment, the number of Americans near the poverty line has skyrocketed since the Great Recession began in 2008, as the chart from Zero Hedge shows below, contributing to America’s rising levels of income inequality..................

CHART: Number Of Americans Near Or Below Poverty Level To Reach All-Time High In 2012

Poverty in Washington, D.C. is an omnipresent and overwhelming problem. Today, nearly 1 in 5 residents in Washington, DC are at or below the poverty line. In 2010, the Coalition on Human Needs found that the poverty rate in Washington, D.C. is the highest of any state.

And poverty in the nation’s capital is ever increasing. The DC Fiscal Policy Institute reports that from 2007 to 2009 the number of people living in poverty in the District is estimated to have risen 19 percent. Today, the poverty rate is 19.2 %, up 0.8 % from 2009. Homelessness among families increased by 46% between 2008 and 2011. DC’s income gap is also widening. Income disparity in Washington, DC is high in comparison to the rest of the United States. While the median income is greater than that of the rest of the country, the percent of those below the poverty line is also greater, by around 3%. .......

Poverty in Washington, DC

Now what were you saying Michelle ?

We are in an election campaign and everything is dueling lies. It is not even spin because the facts don't match the claims that are utter bull# and myths for the most part. Nonetheless, the lies must be spoken because this is what folks want to hear since reality is much too ugly and living in a fantasy world is the closest most will come to true happiness. Remember that no matter where you are, there are always people above and below you on the consciousness ladder. Working on improving yourself, is the job you are here for. That will best be served by growing your aura, helping others and creating love. We all should keep some dignity and not voting is a good way to preserve the little you have left.

And this is why respect has taken the middle road....I can't believe a first lady would talk that way...disgrace regardless if they are a democrat or republican..a disgrace...and yes she is clearly on drugs to suggest that we are in a "huge" recovery....I think I'm more upset about her telling Romeny to sit down and shut up...

She has a funny idea what her role is as first lady, IMO
I am sure there will be those who disagree with me, and show their ass doing it, but in my opinion she needs to hush. Telling folks absolute BS is the cherry on top. She was wrong about diet issues, gardening issues, and etc.. now this. I work with and know a LOT of folks.. from inner city youth to higher paid attys and friends from all walks of life. NO ONE is feeling any recovery in my circle and my circle is a wide one. I see people sinking fast the last several yrs.

Maybe someone needs to clue her in to the fact that her husband was voted in, not her.

Invariably some doof will claim that Im a neocon or whatever because I cant stand the Obamas. Im also a racist no doubt.
Nope, just dont like arrogant incompetency in office or lies when I see more people losing everything than ever before. Didnt like it with Bush, dont like it with Obama.
The GLOBAL economy is tanking.. it effects all of us. To pretend our economy alone is HUGELY recovering is just idiocy.

Yeah she also went ahead and voted in Chicago as other news reports.

Barack brought a "huge" recovery!!!!!!!!

That is hilarious!

More like He brought a huge failure of economic policies that have made things a hell of a lot worse.

Why put so much Merit into what the Wives of the Candidates say?

Romney's wife is concerned over his Mental Health, not a concern to a Potenial POTUS, ...wait ..what!!!

Food is way up.
Gas is waayyy up.
Debt is way way way up.
Economy is dragging more and more even years after hundreds of billions in "stimulus".
Unemployment is (after discounting even more unemployed on new rules) just as bad as it was four years ago.
More people on welfare and food stamps than ever.
People are literally waiting for the election because they are afraid to hire anyone.

What did we recover from again?

Apt that you would ask that question. Self induced amnesia seems to be a pillar of the GOP platform these days.

To answer your question "What did we recover from again?"....The worst economic crisis the Nation has faced since the Great Depression. A crisis created by the policies of the last Republican Idealogue to occupy the whitehouse.

REALITY...That is where the numbers come from.

I remember the begining of the economic crisis...As all the economic indicators started to fall and unemployment rose...the first reaction of the Far Right was to claim BS on the numbers!...Recession??? What Recession??? The Democrats are faking the numbers to win the election! All cuz a Repub. was in the WH.

Now that the numbers are improving steadily, but a Democrat is in the WH...Recovery??? What Recovery??? All because a Democrat is in the WH.

How about the GOP just tell the truth ONCE in while? Or prioritize the American Economy above thier greedy political ambitions???

Newsflash...Pres. Bush was at the wheel when the economy crashed and Pres. Obama drove us out of the ditch...while the GOP was sitting in the passenger seat shouting, screaming and smacking the driver the whole way.

THE NUMBERS ARE REAL....THE GOPs Faux concern for the average American and the Middle Class is not.

That is simple reality born out by the past 10 years.

Looks like the economy started to tank right after Democrats took Congress in 2006, and hasn't recovered since.

Time for Romney to come in and work his magic.

We need a businessman in the White House not a Community Organizer.

You do realize that those supposed jobs creation numbers are from Obamas team, right? You do realize that those supposed jobs created are low wage jobs like McDonalds, right? You do realize that those supposed jobs created do not keep up with the jobs needed, right? You do realize that those supposed jobs created aren't keeping up with the increase in population, right? You do realize that those supposed jobs created aren't keeping up with the number of college graduates, right?

Oh .. you didn't realize that? Now you do.

There is no 'huge recovery'.
Michelle Obama just wants four more years of free room and board, and free trips.
Apparently she'll lie to get those things.

Just like her husband, she is totally clueless.
She should just go back to trying to rid school lunch of evil things, like carbs and sugar.
What a joke.

For months liberals have talked about how the economy is in a recession, and some have even gone as far to say this is the worst recession in U.S. history and that it was brought on by George Bush.

HEEELLLLOOOO!

We are not in a recession.

I could post OP links and posts like that from the far right in 2008 all day...ALL DENYING the RECESSION until PRESIDENT OBAMA was elected..THEN...the Far right suddenly LOVED the numbers and the Recession was real...starting Jan 1st 2009...

Now there is a recovery?? Same old song..

JUST UTTER BS....

No Flyers...please don't.... You are better than that. These are not from the "Obama Team"...They are from the same non-partisan BLS that has always existed. You can look at my chart or you can check the numbers ANYWAY you like as long as you use REAL Numbers..
