Not that great - but per capita the US seems to show a whopping 4 times more murders... and New Zealand has a high murder rate per capita

www.nationmaster.com...&id=nz&id=us

Forget about indexes and stuff - the MURDER RATES take the cake for me... AND you have the cheek to say I am insulting Americans, HA! People like you do the job better than I ever could... hence the PITY I feel for you...

Webvida, I have never been to New Zealand, although I did spend 16 years living in Oceania -- primarily Hawaii and Micronesia.

I would certainly not venture to say that all Kiwis are fools and sheeple. I know several colleagues who are fine people; indeed, I consider your country fascinating enough to have applied for acceptance to a distance learning course through Otago University. Nor would I cast aspersions on your choices for government leaders or the way you select them; there are two reasons for this.

First, they are, after all, your leaders and your choice; not being in your shoes and situation, I am hardly capable of judging you. And if I do have any political comments, e.g., your notions of a two-in-one Pakeha/Maori society with separate rules for each, I would certainly try to express them in a polite tone, since I am not all that familiar with Ms. Clark or her detractors.

Second, I was raised to have a modicum of courtesy towards others; especially for those of whom I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge whatsoever. Of course, such courtesy and decency towards other people and their countries are not universal; your posts certainly seem indicative of that.

I think 4 pages before the bashing started must be a record.

I reckon I could find statistics on most any country, that would show them either in a good light or bad depending on who's hosting the site, and which way I wanted to argue.

The real test is actually living there, something I haven't really done with either the US or NZ. I spent 1 week in New York and Boston some years ago and enjoyed it emensely, especially as it was the fall/autumn. I spent 5 months in NZ (South Island), which without a doubt had a beauty unmatched by any other I had encountered.

But we aren't really talking about the countryside are we, we're actually talking about the people here. Which is where the problems tend to lie.

Are you even listening to the words that are spewing from your head? I am neither Rep or Dem, but I am an American and am offended by your more then apparent lack of class or grace. If this is the serious internet forum that it claims to be then I do not see how such a blatent assault on some members of the form by others can be tolerated.

Ok, we seem to have been warned for this, so Im going to say this as nicely as possible. For you to say the things about my country that you have said, and having said them out of spite, I have to think that you jump to conclusions, spray opinions you pass off as fact, and use no intellect when preparing a rebuttle. I have no use for a debate with a person of such misled intellectual caliber. Instead, I my have found a use for my ignore button. Never had to use it, but there is always a first. Had you presented yourself with a different demeaner, you might have heard from me that Ive always wanted to go to New Zeland, The beauty there is unmatched. However, if your opinions resonate with the rest of the population of New Zeland, Im afraid that all the beauty just faded for me.

For you information I will quote the original post I made:

Actually it is normally the same in all democratic countries - you get to choose between two rich boys that have absolutely no interest in the welfare of the masses. The only care these "show ponies" have is the furthering of their own selfish agendas which normally involve huge contracts paid by taxpayers money to "interesting" companies.

Be it that you are Republican or Democrate - you are only fools and sheeple to me...

Actually it is normally the same in all democratic countries

Actually I should have added Liberial, Labourite as well to the Sheeple category, as it is my opinion that all western democracies are in the same boat...

Now this thread is fast becoming "my country is better than yours" which is half my fault for being drawn into these stupid comparisons and also for being a bit hard with the sheeple and fools stuff (for this I appologise), but the gist of the post is what I feel and believe, and I am sorry if you don't like it...

There is a difference in what you feel and believe and your enthusiasm for saying it in an insulting way.

One can only hope that "with age comes wisdom"; just as (fortunately for me) "with ATS comes the IGNORE option."

Good day, sir.

Good for you Kidfinger
As you describe me, you describe yourself which is plan to see by going back thru your threads... and yes my opinions reflect those of many people that I know in New Zealand, that is not to say everyone as I do not know everyone in NZ, but from watching the TV and reading the Newspaper the general gist seems to be in the direction of my original post...

Anyway I have no more interest in country bashing so lets get on with the discussion, eh

Well the words spewing from my mouth are nothing compared to the other posts in this forum.... open your eyes, look around... read some more posts in this forum - I think there is something wrong with your political system...

And yes the fact still stands, you insult yourselves more than I ever could...

Please refrain from the one liners...

Really? I set this thread up as a reflection of 90% of the sentiment expressed in this forum: Politics and Scandals... Going by the amount of posts in this forum there seems to be quite a few SCANDALS... the US governement seems to have quite it's fair share of SCANDELS, DOES IT NOT?

For some one to vote for these unscrupulous folk is a definite sign of being either a fool or sheeple, sorry...

Russia is the country I could always live in... While in big cities such as Moscow, you have a great social life, you can find your moments of tranquility anywhere other than a city, in this largest country in the world...

Yes, that's right, USA will never be the largest

just kidding, but seriously I would never go and live in US instead of Russia...

... This is the greatest country on earth. period.

Absolutely. The jealousy of Europe is a sight to behold,
isn't it? Those poor folks have their countries falling down
around them due to the failures of socialism and all they
can do is point at America and whine. If they spent half
that anti-american whining energy on fixing up their own
crumbling countries, the world would be a lot better off.

america is a great country.....they invade my country in 2 times, and kill a bouch of people who fight for the freedom of our people, and when they leave the country they put a dictator as our president, of course the dictator was always doing what ever the americans say, and....in return...the americans let him to do what ever he wants, the guy had even a private band to kill anyone who was against his government........the bastard die in 2002
thanks america for all those years of pain

who do you feel if russia or any other country invade the US, would you be happy because they are gonna bring a "new freedom"?

You are now insulting other members on two threads. Discontinue this now or warnings will follow. Last unofficial warning.

Ok so it is ok for them to insult me, but if I defend myself I get warned... no worries I see how it works...

Seriously, don't be that arrogant. There are far better places than USA, Germany, France, UK or whatever floats your boat. All in all Switzerland, Liechtenstein, British Virgin Islands and Grenada get my vote.

The British Virgin Islands and Grenada are territories of the U.K.

BVI is UK territory, you are right about that and that has been the reason I used the word "places" and not country

Though you are wrong about Grenada, it is the smallest independent country in the western hemisphere. They received independence somewhere in the 70s.

BVI is worth a trip, unlike Britain it's nice and full of Britains elite

Nothing against Britain but for me it's as attractive as Germany...sure there are nice places but not the country of my choice. But who can choose what he wants?
Anyway, I am open minded for presents like a nice luxury home on Virgin Gorda

on other note, what was this thread about?
