Ok how about we TRY to get this back to what I think the original post was getting at. America's government, is worrying...to put it short. The bullying, the pushing their weight aroud in any country they see fit, the taking money from welfare to be put into weapons.

For what it's worth, the general american population DOES have a superiority complex, they have become a little too proud for their own good, this is one of the negative effects of living in the (currently) most powerful country in the world.

Again, spend some time here.

We are not perfect by any means, but we are a good people.

Bullying? Yours and my country would not exist were it not for the Bullying Empire of the UK.

Hey i might just take you up on that pint (or more) offer there... allthough getting all the way to LA might be an issue

Look just to get the record straight I know what you are saying. The US doese have some sort of semblance to "normal life" thats exactly why you have these nincompoops claiming it the "best country" without knowing enough about language or semantics to realize they are not saying anything relevant (you need to define best first to start with..).

The comfort breeds complacentcy (spelling?) and this leads to the sheepish and brainwashed blindly complying to whatever the media says. These people don't realize how many naked pesants (yes thats a guy whos sole "technology" is a STICK!) the US has bombed, but rank the WTC as one of the biggest tragedies ever.
It is this I have a problem with and thats why I keep telling them where to go with their "USA USA" chanting.

Untill the pint i'll go easy on you, if you go easy on me OK?

In what way is America the greatest country to live in?
I've lived in a couple of diff countries other than the US.
I'll admit financialy yes, this IS the greatest country to live in.
But it falls way behind a lot of countries in education, rich/poor devide, community spirit, crime, government, safety, racism, driving ability, beer, marijuana, freedom (yes freedom).
Of course there are great things other than capital in this country also.
The national parks (They don't even belong to the US anymore)
Harley Davidson (but I can't afford one)
Rock 'n' Roll (sucked up and spit out by the establishment leaving nothing but bland conformatism and plastic rebels)
Fast Food (Currently, 64.5 percent of U.S. adults, age 20 years and older, are overweight and 30.5 percent are obese. And it's rising fast in Europe because of American fast food restaurants)
57 Chevies (can't afford one of those either)
The right to bare arms (In 2002, 51% of homicides were committed with handguns, 16% with other guns, 13% with knives, 5% with blunt objects, and 16% with other weapons.
Diversity (America is one of the most racialy devided countries in the World, financialy and socialy)
Don't get me wrong I love this country, just don't understand blind patriotism. So I thought I'd just point out some less than great features.
Flame flame away

I have lived in a few other countries as well. The US is far from prefect, but I truly belive in the sense of worldly society, we are the future. I live in LA and have neighbors from every part of the globe... that makes me happy. That I have people from all over over who can teach me about different backrounds.

As far as ethincally divided. yes, there are problems, but that is pretty common everywhere. Not right, but common,

Why is is that when the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda hack each other to death it is ignored but the US is evil?

I give up. We can't do anything right. Enjoy your internet.
The single greatest thing in our(as in ALL OF US) history to bring us all closer. Hence our debates.

Nodoby's calling the US evil

Why is it so many people see everything in black and white?
Just because someone is not a flag waving-gun totin-john wayne lovin-capatilist-gas guzzlin-conservative-democrat-proud american son.
Does not mean they think the US is evil.
I think people have been conditioned to except only 2 choices in everything,
right or left, conservative or democrat, winner or looser, bush or kerry, patriat or enemy, with us or against us, good or evil.
We tend to allow out true beliefs to be influenced by the crowd we feel most comfortable with. It can be scary on the outside.

The US is the way of the future?
In what way? it's diet? it's education? it's weopons, it's crime, it's domination, it's "democratic system", it's morality?? It already exports plenty of those things. Why is it so hard for Americans to just BE, why are you all so concerned with being the best all the time.
You all wonder why the US is so criticised, it's that higher than thou attitude ya'll have over the rest of the world.
Everybody's home country is gonna be the best in their eyes BUT don't get sentimentality confused with reality.
My home country is England and I miss it, but I wouldn't call it the greatest country in the world by a long shot. Every country has it's good and bad.

There is nothing wrong with a country having problems.
The problem is when people are reluctant to admit there are problems.
Untill problems are admited to they won't be fixed.
And our governmental leaders are loathed to admit to problems or mistakes. And so I think are a lot of citizens.

Where are you from? If your going to insult someons country, at least have the nutz to show where your from! I feel sorry for you because YOU are NOT an American, or at least I hope not. If you feel this way, I dont want you in my country.
When posting your personal opinions, keep in mind that a lot of Americans probably feel sorry for your country and its people, whererever that may be. Dont forget that also, if you live ANYWHERE but UK or USA, your country has recieve aid in one form or another from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

I am from New Zealand, and the last time I checked I didn't see any aid coming from Amercia and every American I met traveling their ENVIED me for living in such a beautiful clean green country, in fact most of them wished they could stay longer and actually live in my country... unfortunatley most could not pass our stringent immigration criteria...

In fact I don't believe America would care to give us "aid" as we were one of the small minority to stand up to bush's "you are with us or against us" bully boy tactics. Unlike the french and russians we had no ulterior motives in doing this...

We also prohibited Americans bringing Nuclear ships to our country as well for which you are not too happy so no aid for us I am thinking...

As stated before, I was not insulting anyone; I was just expressing my opinion about democrates and republicans (fools and sheeple), and as stated also in a previous thread I think most of the voters will be electronically generated in your voting computers anyway...

PS: In an earlier thread I stated I was from New Zealand so please read all the posts before shooting your mouth off

Where would you go? They only ones that could afford to emigrate are the ones with money and they really have it too good to leave. And the poor unfortunates who do actually manage to immigrate to the USA must be shoked to find that they are nothing more than slave livestock imported to serve rich masters with no hope of ever making enough money to return home...

JOIN THE GREEN CARD LOTTERY, FIRST PRIZE 1 WAY TRIP TO SLAVERY!!!!

Well said!! And sooo true. Many an imigrant has come here expecting to live the american dream only to find a nighmare they can't escape from.
I'm sorta in that boat myself...

Calm down, if you post your location in your profile we avoid silly confrontations such as this, you can't expect someone to read all your posts in the hope of finding out where you are from, even if it is "God's Own".

Look, you obviously know nothing about the country YOU live in. in 1998 alon, .23% of all aid given out by america went to New Zeland. Hows that for shooting my mouth off? That was just 1998.
www.globallearningnj.org...

I dont care if you ment to insult me or not. Your insinuating that me and my fellow Americans are sheeple. THATS AN INSULT! Of course, I guess you would know sheep when you see one. After doing a little checking on you little Island of a country, it seems that wool is about the best thing going for it. Now go be a shepard and guard your flock.

Is that 0.23% or 23%?

New Zealand chief export is their people, mainly to the UK mainland.

Actually, they are also one of the worlds cheif exporters of Lamb and Dairy products, but you probably already knew that.

Its .23%. But think about how much .23% is out of the billions of ollars that go out each year. Thats a HUGE chunk of change. Here is a site about New Zelands economy.

www.stats.govt.nz...

You would think that before people bash other countries, they would do some checking on thier own an see how thier country relates to the country being bashed. Not only do we provide aid top New Zeland, but we are also thier LARGEST importer of wool and airy products. So I guess you could say that without the USA, New Zelands economy would be in terrible shape.

I've lived in America for years and go there on business 3-4 times a year. After living in Australia for the last 10 years, I would have to say Oz wins hands down. If any American lived here for a short time they would easily see the superior quality of living and YES more freedom than the US. The US is no longer the freeist coun try in the world it is Oz.

Absolutely. The jealousy of Europe is a sight to behold,
isn't it? Those poor folks have their countries falling down
around them due to the failures of socialism and all they
can do is point at America and whine. If they spent half
that anti-american whining energy on fixing up their own
crumbling countries, the world would be a lot better off.

There you go running your mouth agian before you do some checking on your own country. Your crime statistics are not all that great either.

www.nationmaster.com...

Are you just trying to argue to get points or something? You cant just start spouting garbage out of your mouth an not expect people here to do some checking. Your new here, so Im actually cutting you some slack. I could go on to show you how the cost of living indexes compare, or show you how corruption in government extends to New Zeland, or I could present many other examples of how, when compared, the United States of America just tops EVERY catagory when compared to New Zeland. You do have cleaner air, but Im sure that has something to do with all the sheep. Oh, and you did provide the back drop for an awsome trilogy. Was that American movie money being pumped ino your economy? I think it was

Now, go review your crime statistics, get your own gun and play with it with the safety off
