The jump was made at the edge of our atmosphere, if that was a meteor it would have not hit much of the atmosphere yet, hence the meteor would have
been traveling tens of thousands of miles per hour. We would not have seen the meteor through that small opening, you would have a better chance of
seeing a speeding bullet.
