So, tell me again what this has to do with 7 billion people living on earth?
Where's the connection?
Elijah is the symbolism for Baptism and Water immersion. The wilderness is the material world. Sins must be paid for.
Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling:
“In the wilderness prepare
the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert
a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
6 A voice says, “Cry out.”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”
“All people are like grass,
and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.
7 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the Lord blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever.”
John the Baptist was asked if He was Elijah. Here is what he said:
21 They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.” 22 Finally
they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23 John replied in the words of
Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”
Now read Malachi for a related text:
(Malachi 3:1; 4:5-6).
‘Behold, I send My messenger and he shall prepare the way before Me.’…‘Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and
terrible day of the Lord comes, and he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else
I will come and strike the land with a curse’
John said he was not Elijah. What did Jesus say in Matthew 11 on the subject:
“‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’ 11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has
not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist
until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law
prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.
John was Elijah and Baptism was the connecting point between Elijah and the preparation of the way. Water is the key to life and preparing the way
for the 2nd coming of Christ.
We are all waiting:
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who
are waiting for him.
Salvation comes to those who are waiting on Him to return.
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.
Clouds are not the fluffy white things above. Clouds are the overshadowing of the veil of matter. Christ comes in our confusion and reveals faith as
fact. He comes to make all things known and then to judge the nations by what has been done under the veil.
