The point obviously is to attract attention to the documentary which exposes the conspiracy behind Romanian revolution.

And what is the point of your post?

The point of his post obviously relates to the fact that he is familiar with the terms and conditions of ATS. Not only is posting a link to a video with no subsequent description of the content within considered bad manners and decorum for this site, it is also against the rules. So ya, maybe read the rules before getting snotty with someone else.

Anyway, you need to include a description of the video, as well as a rundown of the topics it addresses, and/or points it brings up. I am relatively familiar with the subject, as much as the average westerner at least, but like others, I refuse to watch videos at certain times. I would much rather read a description, and I know that many would agree. And since this lacks this description, I will reserve my topic-related comments for now.

From the youtube page:

How does one trigger a revolution? In the Romanian uprising against the dictator Ceaucescu in 1989, everything seemed to happen by itself. The people were fed up with his absolute totalitarianism, and were plagued by poverty and terror. There comes a time when action must be taken! But, it turns out that history is not that simple, as this investigative documentary proves.

The film is a thorough and revealing reconstruction of the events leading up to Ceaucescus downfall and execution. In actual fact, the Romanian revolution was a strictly managed operation, controlled from the outside. Hungary, Germany and especially America had big fingers in the pie. The strategies used ranged from anti-Ceaucescu propaganda to the organized training of civilians as armed revolutionaries. The stakes of this geo-political game were much higher than just the well-being of the Romanian people.

Ceaucescu had to leave because he thwarted the unity of Europe and the definitive collapse of communism. In this highly convincing work, filmmaker Susanne Brandstätter clarifies the larger issues on the political world stage, but also proves that revolutions, no matter how well prepared, never take place without innocent victims. A painful conclusion.

I guess the OP likes the video because even though people talk about freedoms being stripped away in the United States, not many are talking about a revolution. And even if they did, how would the people take action to get one? Could it even be done without the support of other countries these days?

So its an interesting video in this day and age, where we see riots on the streets in the western world because of the abuse of power, the corruption and lies being fed to the public.

Thanks for posting.

An interesting watch. Recommended. We may be there someday ourselves.

Video is sub-titled in English with soundtrack in German, I believe. The YouTube vids of this film are in approx. 10 minute segments in six parts.

Thanks, OP. Part One embedded for you.

I would treat the video as a warning that unless you KNOW what you are doing it is better and wait. In that time educate yourself, grow a bit older, gain some experience and THEN YOU can try it.

I could not watch the video so a nice synopsis of it would have been nice as well as perhaps your thoughts was all I was asking for.

Was the being snotty comment directed at me? I was just asking for some clarification.

At the risk of an off topic.

OP you are obligated to give a synopsis of any vid you post for those who can't view the video. Not to mention one liner threads are completely against the guidelines of thread posting on ATS. The members are the quality partner.

Those that still think that any revolution happens due to popular will are truly deluded there is no popular will, at best we have popular motivators, control over those motivators provides control over not only the national politic and discourse but if well managed can even serve to cause momentum to overthrow any government.

The best way to get a revolution is to plan for one, the best way to "win" a revolution is to back the right horse in the race to power amids the chaos of a collapsing state.

Can you recommend any materials analyzing Syrian revolution (or other recent revolutions in that region)?
