But it's also a good system to put on a low altitude UAV, that does in a high threat environment. It's good but not as good as w have.

Don't get me wrong MWIR is nice and can do a lot of stuff. Compared to older IR it is super nice. It is just becoming outdated, but that is good. This means that this level of IR will get cheaper and not cost 100,000s of dollars, maybe just 10,000s of dollars in a few short years.

MWIR on the border would find EVERY illegal coming across it. All the pilot would need to do is tell the authorities .."it looks like they will be coming to the highway at marker XXX, and just have a bus waiting for them...

Now if you want to read a license plate at 4 miles well.... that is a different story.
