The thing your missing is that children don't know better... A 12 year old doesn't understand big picture consequences or the ramifications of their actions.. I'm not sure why you don't see this... My guess is that you don't have children...

While I can agree that suicide is a selfish act, I don't understand why you need to add a derogatory label to a girl who does it? Typically, one wouldn't consider a child a "broad". It's just weird. It's like reducing your stature down to the same age level.

Well, now shes a dead broad so it doesnt really matter ....

She's a dead child, not sure why you need to keep displaying such disrespect on here... You obviously don't care for a child who died, so why don't you leave the thread instead of trolling it...

People in the youtube comments kept posting links to the pictures of her, when she was twelve! I didn't click thru obviously - but I'm wondering; Can all of the people who did be charged with receiving child porn? Can they sequester a list of the IPs of people who viewed her images? I really hope so! What a message that would send!!

What do you care what i call her? girl, child , broad, whatever... I was pretty clear about saying how i felt about her, i have no pity. I guess if you call that "trolling", whatever makes you feel better. Just because you have some psychological attachment to this 'broad' doesn't mean everyone else does. I have enough going on in my own life to not need to feel sorrow over some random 'broad' on the internet.... If you feel so bad for her, what have you done ? Have you sent flowers to her family? Doubt it.... Have you called and gave your condolences? Doubt it.... No need to attack me because i dont give a crap...

I don't feel sorry for this girl either, I read the description on her video saying you gotta be strong and I'm still here aren't I? Guess what, she's not... and whose fault is that???? It's sad that she felt the need to take her own life but broadcasting it isn't sending out a very strong message.... Basically she is being glorified now for taking her life, so now we're gonna have a bunch of depressed teens thinking they are going to get internet fame after they're gone by posting their suicide notes on youtube....... She only displayed weakness and there was no positive message to come from that video whatsoever........

Weakness?

You have no idea how strong a person must be to go against all their natural insticts and end their own life.

It is only the weak that remain here.

You have so much to learn.

You are supporting suicide now??? Take your life and be strong people! What a joke..... This is the exact mentality I'm talking about, thank you for proving me right so quickly....

the fact you are laughing at the end of your post demonstrates how little you understand.

i'm guessing you are quite scared. people often mask their fear of subjects they don't understand with your kind of response.

(do not tell try and tell me what i do or do not support)

I saw Amanda's YouTube video this morning on this thread (for some reason ATS is one of the top three sites I read for global news). I can only comment on her video and mothers statement to the press rather than all the other social media outlet garbage. It seems to me that the girl cried out for help as through her series of notes she states 'I am on antidepressants now and going to counseling'. Through her mother's statement to the press she was very aware of the on-going trouble her daughter was going through; according to the Calgary Herald: The video and photos went to teachers, to parents, to Facebook friends, which lead to repeated taunts: “Oh, there’s the porn star.”
This is when she enrolled into a different (and presumably final school) to which her mother Carol states 'It increased her anxiety and she couldn’t go to class'. If Amanda's parents did all they could for her is only known for certain by them, however according to her mother she makes the comment 'Everything she said in the video happened over the past two years,it was horrendous. I think about it now and I think, ‘Oh my God. How did she survive this long with the pain?' This certainly sounds like a contradiction. We would like to think that we as parents know what are children are doing at all hours of the day. They may look and act fine on the outside but unless we have a report with them we may actually have no clue as to whats going on. I personally would like to have constant live UAV surveillance and SIGNIT intelligence 24/7 with my teenage daughters but that's just not possible (at least not yet). Certainly kids will inevitably to incredibly stupid things. It's in their nature to act without realizing the consequences of their actions (some adults too) and it comes down to the parents or guardians to provide the guidance to get them through. If I find my kids doing inappropriate things on the net or phone they get those devices confiscated and within a span of 35 years or so they can have them back. I can't presume to know what actions were taken by Amanda's parents or the amount of pressure she was under from bullying but the fact of the matter is she's dead. Everything she could have ever had has been taken away. She isn't the first to do what she did, which is alarming to say the least, but how many more do we need before we take action in preventing this from happening? According to globalissues.org about 21,000 children die on average every day with around 7.1 million every year due to poverty, disease and hunger. We may not have any control over those factors but certainly we can figure out a way to stop them from ending their own lives.

What amazes me is some of the comments on youtube.
How can there be any hope left when so many people lack empathy?? People are #ing laughing over her death and commenting how she deserved it.
What a sick world this has become.

i thought the exact same thing when i read some

of the comments on you you tube..

absolutely terrible comments..

the worst one that i saw that had several thumbs up was

"lifes a bleach"

who is raising these kids?

how can they be so dam cruel & think its cool & funny?

i just dont understand it..

My "son" (a really good best friend of mine) is from the same town and was in the same situation as Amanda. Although I can't really be there physically for her, we manage to keep in contact through phone, internet and sometimes snail mail so I know she's alright.

I too have been in a situation like Amanda's, but I keep looking on the bright side and remember that it fades from the consciousness once everyone gets tired and moves on.

Rest In Peace Dear Amanda.

This is out of character for me and I am probably inviting hatred to my doorstep but I can't help it. Dayve, I saw you post a negative comment on page 1 of this thread and you stated very well how you felt about the situation. Why are you bothering coming back to this thread over and over. I think everyone is well aware of how you feel and you aren't adding anything useful to the topic so why are you still doing this? Are you getting off flaming people for their belief, or being flamed for your belief? You seem full of so much anger, sorry to see this...

FYI- 12 year olds are typically 5th/6th graders...just saying... please start getting some of your statements right...and I wouldn't call us oversensitive, were just compassionate people while you on the other hand are a total d***
