Iran is currently working in a nationwide intranet program separated from the World Wide Web . The main purpose is cybersecurity and promotion of Islamic moral values .

The country’s plan for a nationwide intranet separated from the World Wide Web looks to be approaching fruition. Its purpose, they claim, would be to provide national cybersecurity and promote Islamic moral values. Iranian officials have talked about creating a "halal" internet - a religiously acceptable internal network isolated from the World Wide Web

They allocate two IP addresses to every machine that connects to the internet: a regular web address and an internal one that is only accessible from within Iran.

They found that more than 10,000 devices are already part of the network. The network also contains a good deal of content, such as academic websites and email services.

How? The sanctions are leading the people of Iran (not the government) down a hole more quickly than the US economy.

Edit: Iran is 107th on the list of below the poverty line (18.7%)
The USA is 123rd on the list of below the poverty line (15.1%)

That translates to:
Iran: 4 Million people
USA: 20 Million people

The above numbers was to just put it in perspective. Iran still has more under as a percentage.
Here is the link.

ps- Go Canada!! 9.4%

Yet the Iranian government is still investing its wealth into a pointless project, that is designed purely for vanity of the attollah.

What is Obama spending money on again...?

Edit: Had to add this for the people that believe that Obama is the lowest spending president in 60 years.

Do 20% of Americans have an income of less than $11 a day like they do in Iran?

Perhaps you missed my above post:

Edit: Iran is 107th on the list of below the poverty line (18.7%)
The USA is 123rd on the list of below the poverty line (15.1%)
That translates to:
Iran: 4 Million people
USA: 20 Million people

Please link how you got $11 a day, and what that would equal to in the US so I can make a comparison. The poverty line is the minimum level of income deemed adequate in a given country.

In practice, like the definition of poverty, the official or common understanding of the poverty line is significantly higher in developed countries than in developing countries.

Link.

Edit:
Average Iran income in 2008: $12,000
Average US income in 2008 : $47,000
As you can see, there is quite a big gap in average household incomes. So the poverty line is going to be quite a bit lower in Iran than it is in the US. About 3.92 times difference. So $11/day in Iran, would be equal to $43/day in the US (in 2008). US: approx $1300/month. Iran: $330/month. Now I don't live there, nor do I know anyone there, so I can't speak for how they stretch that out.

Loaf of Fresh White Bread (500g) 0.54 $ 3.00 $

From here.
First price is Iran, second is the US. (Tehran vs. New York)
Over 5 times difference.

Although the author of the article says the network is sure to fail, I'm going to go the opposite way and say its going to be huge.

As long as there are enough similar resources to the internet, and by this I mean news, sport, chat, email, forums, shopping, games, etc... then there would be social pressure from within the culture to not use anything else. eg the schools, your religious leaders, the government wont accept emails from anywhere except within Irannet.
This will increase the users, variety of pages on the network and in so doing reduce the need for the ordinary internet.

And lets suppose that other islamic countries in the region like the look of this Islamic internet and want in as well. It has the potential to expand to all Islamic countries.

So if you speak arabic and are a programmer, keep as eye on this. There's money to be made. It will need its own Facebook, its own Google, its own Ebay, its own Youtube, its own Amazon, its own advertising networks and so forth. Get in early and be the "default" page for these ideas.

It all depends on how much resources they put on it in its early days. Needs critical mass.

I think it is a great idea.
why should the rest of the world have internet that is totally controlled by america?
if america decides to switch the internet off they can.
and they can block from the web who they like.

Ever countrie should have internet that is totally controled by the same countrie.
and yes it would still link to all other countries.
dont you see that america has totale control of the world internet.

um! yes I dont like america...

The Iranian Americans I know would laugh their ASSES OFF reading some of what is posted here. They have just very recently been able to talk via Iranians in Iran using SMART PHONES that can pierce Government Internet Filters as they connect to Social Websites.

Iran is controlled by a small group of THIEVES who use Islamic Ideals to impose Laws that are so brutal...they make the Shah look like a SAINT! The good news is that it has been decided that Iran's current REGIME will be removed. This is inevitable and is just a matter of time.

The U.S. has already cut deals with RUSSIA AND CHINA and NO COUNTRY can be allowed to make threats concerning BLOCKING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ. This is the mistake that Iran's Regime made and add to that Iran's Breaking of the NPT....as well as the Iranian Regimes miscalculation in thinking that if they can develop a few 1945 style Fission Bombs that this will deter the U.S. Military. It will not...and if anything...this Nuclear Program which the U.S. has Satellite Capabilities that allow us to track, locate and detect all Iranian Nuclear Sites as well as ANY MOVEMENT OF NUCLEAR FUEL....even if it was transported in a LEAD BOX...has made the decision to remove the Iranian Regime all the more of an easier decision.

The Iranian Military is secretly talking to the U.S. Military....and the STATEMENTS OF BRAVADO coming from Iran are NOT COMING FROM THE REAL IRANIAN MILITARY LEADERSHIP. They are well aware of how the regime is Playing Games with the Iranian Military Leadership and Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's....LIVES! The REAL IRANIAN MILITARY wants NO PART IN A U.S./ Iran WAR! They KNOW this would be SUICIDE!

The Iranian Navy is especially PISSED OFF! They know that the OLD RELIGIOUS GUARD will order them to BLOCK THE STRAIT and if the Iranian Navy tries this...the U.S.Navy will have no choice but to OBLITERATE the Iranian Navy. Then the Regime will state Israel was also involved in this attack by would only be the U.S. Navy as a way to gain the Iranian Peoples Support. This ORDER will be sent the MOMENT THE REGIME FEELS THREATENED BY THE IRANIAN PRO-DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT. What WILL HAPPEN is that ALL IRANIAN MILITARY FORCES WILL STAND DOWN. This will give the the Pro-Democracy Movement Iranian Military Backing.

All but one Army Division LOYAL TO THE OLD GUARD will stand down. This division is the MOST BRUTAL AND VICIOUS of all of the Army and is responsible for wearing street cloths and infiltrating the Democracy Movements Leadership Cells and then BEATING SOME TO DEATH OR TO THE VERY BRINK! They went into the streets pretending to be STUDENTS and BEAT, SHOT, TORTURED, RAPED....you name it...their own countries KIDS! This Iranian Army Division will most likely have to be DESTROYED in order for the Pro-Democracy Movement to have a chance.

The U.S. AIR FORCE will use this DIVISION AS AN EXAMPLE TARGET. As what we did in IRAQ with a very similar Loyal to SADDAM REPUBLICAN GUARD DIVISION...a Wing of B-52H's using Advanced Smart Carpet Bombing Munitions...flew in at night and WIPED OUT THAT REPUBLICAN GUARD DIVISION. 100,000 Men DIED...there were no survivors. Other Iraqi Soldiers in Divisions HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY...told how they could hear and see the B-52 Strike. The next morning all Iraqi Divisions surrendered and most Soldiers stripped of their uniforms and walked home. This is most likely the FATE of this One Iranian Division.

I sometimes feel that the false sympathy that certain Westerners have towards the Iranian government is just like the same sympathy similar people felt towards Stalin in the 1930's. Both groups were upset with the common political and economic power systems in the West (for good reasons) but erroneously came to the conclusion that they should believe the propaganda of some stupendously immoral and disgusting tyrannical enemies of the West. Well back then, information was much harder to get across so the sympathizers of Communism had a little bit (not much) of an excuse. But today?

The "Old Guard" are a combination of the Basij Militia --- which is really more like Hitler's brownshirts---they beat up and murder locals. They won't stand in a straight-up military battle. Then there are the Revolutionary Guards, more like SS, actual full military units with the best equipment and most loyal soldiers---not surprisingly just like Iraq's Republican Guards.

It is certainly true that if the Iranian Navy attempted any attack, every surface vessel would be sunk well within a week, because shallow sea Navy is completely vulnerable to air attack, and the US is very good at air attack. It would be a video game competition between the Navy/Marine aviators and Air Force pilots to count up their kills.

Japanese proved this in 1941: Air superiority beats warships. Today, weapons are precise enough that even small craft can be precisely destroyed on the first or second pass.

Back in time: 1991. www.washingtonpost.com...

In the first revelation of the dimension of bombings by the aging B-52s, Schwarzkopf said 27 B-52's dropped 455 tons of explosives on the Republican Guard Saturday, 21 of the high-flying craft dropped 315 tons Tuesday and another 28 let loose 450 tons today. "That's not to mention the other strikes that we're doing with F-16s, F-15Es, A-6s, etc.," he said.

He said the B-52s performed with "a much higher degree of accuracy than they're given credit for."

400+ tons every day! Whoa.

The U.S.A.F. currently has about 75 to 90 B-52H's available for use. These H Series all have relatively low Flight Time on their Air Frames and the U.S. used B-52H's with Smart Carpet Bombing Munitions in the Invasion of Iraq. The Newer and Smarter Smart Munitions specifically developed for use by B-52H's are at a much Higher Level of Lethality than those used during the Invasion of Iraq.

With the addition of Wing Surface Bomb Carriers as the B-52H has an INCREDIBLE LIFT CAPABILITY as new engines allow a greater number of Conventional Weapons to be carried. Now retired B-52D "BIG BELLY" varients were capable of carrying of a minimum of 84...500-LBS Conventional Bombs or a Minimum of 42...750-LBS Conventional Bombs and in addition to these another 24...either 500 or 750-LBS Conventional Bombs on exterior Bomb Racks.

The smaller in "BELLY" size B-52H's can carry an even greater number of Bombs and these Newer Smart Carpet Bombing Munitions burst over target with each either of the 500-LBS or 750-LBS Size containing Hundreds of Individual Self Propelled Rocketed Bombs which do not violate the International Cluster Bomb Ban as they become INERT if they do not explode. Some are designed to destroy Tanks and other Heavy Military equipment...others are IR-Light sensitive and are designed for anti-personal uses.

These types of Munitions would be used in any attack on the Iranian Army Division which is Loyal to the Old Religious Guard. Split Infinity
