Where do the discernable boundaries inside tthe mind reside?
What are these boundaries?
Is it ethically or morally wrong to exceed these boundaries?

The human mind imagines what is not real. The human mind cannot accept what is. The mind cannot see or hear or do anything. All the human mind does is think.
There are no boundaries anywhere but the mind imagines there are.

The human mind does not know (it thinks it knows) - the mind is known.

you do not know what you do not know.

Example 1: Think of a new color.
Example 2: Think of what science will be saying and what will be excepted in 1000 years.

Yes. It's limited to our experience, senses and memory. Whenever we think, we're surveying our memory. When we imagine, we are creating from our memory. Memory is derived from experience. Experience is derived from our senses. Our senses are derived from our body. Our body is derived from the earth.
