I wonder if the subject of IRAN will come up in tonight's V.P. Debate:

Power Line points out an example of the Biden prowess on foreign relations that first appeared in The New Republic’s profile of Biden from October 2001. In a vignette at the end of the article, Biden ponders mightily over how the US should respond to 9/11:

At the Tuesday-morning meeting with committee staffers, Biden launches into a stream-of-consciousness monologue about what his committee should be doing, before he finally admits the obvious: “I’m groping here.” Then he hits on an idea: America needs to show the Arab world that we’re not bent on its destruction. “Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran,” Biden declares. He surveys the table with raised eyebrows, a How do ya like that? look on his face. The staffers sit in silence. Finally somebody ventures a response: “I think they’d send it back.” Then another aide speaks up delicately: “The thing I would worry about is that it would almost look like a publicity stunt.” Still another reminds Biden that an Iranian delegation is in Moscow that very day to discuss a $300 million arms deal with Vladimir Putin that the United States has strongly condemned. But Joe Biden is barely listening anymore. He’s already moved on to something else.

First off...Iranians are not Arabs (they are Persians)...But this is just another example of Obama's brilliant choice in choosing a running mate who will only compliment his ridiculous (and failed) foreign policy.

Oh I hope so! Biden supposedly has all this wonderful experience with foreign countries and how to deal with them. But honestly ... I think Biden just needs to retire. I'm not seeing it manifesting in any kind of intelligent manner on his part.

In case you haven't been paying attention to US foreign policy over the decades we have two ways of dealing with foreign nations. Kill them or give them money. Both of which are stupid.

Maybe Joe was the one behind the 'missing missiles for the Brotherhood' in Libya. Maybe it was his idea to send the money to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt too?

Sounds like he had the plan all sorted out already.

Ok...kind of a dumb way to pitch a really good idea.

Instead of leveling the Middle East if we would have stuck that money into REBUILDING the twin towers and HELPING the Middle Easts peasant-folk we would be LIGHT YEARS ahead of where we are at right now.

Gandhi proved that it's damn near IMPOSSIBLE to keep hitting someone who doesn't hit back. Haven't you guys ever seen that footage of protestors in India walking straight into the police billy clubs, then getting up and walking into them again? (Hint: Eventually the British gave up).

Well I certainly hope they spend it better than the BILLIONS we have poured into Iraq. I mean we have a 3rd world power structure and bridges falling apart and what do we do after we bomb the crap out of them Rebuild a 21st Century Infrastructure of course!

Whew good thing they pay...nothing for it...wait what??? My power bill would probably give an Iraqi a heart attack!

This would be very out of character for the united states.

Isn't it standard policy to bomb their infrastructure first before we give them money to rebuild it?
