A heartbreaking end to a hard day already. Reminds me of my ten year-old. Truly sad.

I'm just an hour north of there and according to 9news.com they still have not identified a body they found. Although I have thought since the beginning that she is dead. It breaks my heart and as a mother it freaks me the hell out. I live a block from the school and my 7 year old walks with a group of kids to school. I just found out yesterday that about half way down the block they all sort of split up into one here, two there, one riding ahead on a scooter, two riding bikes up further ahead. So I have started walking to school with him and this group of kids.

This case hit me deep down inside as a mom and I have not been able to shake the awful feelings since I first heard of the case. Maybe it's just because it feels more real with it being so close to me or maybe I'm opening my eyes to the awful truth of the sort of messed up people who live in this world. It's a parents worst nightmare that's for sure. They have also 100% ruled out the parents of any involvement. My heart simply can not understand.

I give my condolences to the family of this child and all other missing and or abducted children in the world.

With that said, why is there so much uproar about this case? People go missing everyday...adults, males, females, kids and the elderly. What makes this particular case so much more important than all those others? We don't see news articles or people going into an uproar over all those other individuals.

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. How many times have we seen parents try to act how they think they should for the cameras, only to find out later they were involved. I could never put myself in their shoes and say I know how they feel, but most times you can just tell if its real or not.

On another note, that "package "they took out of the house in your video.....did it look like a rifle to anyone else? What could it be?

I'm sorry to say this but a body has been discovered. No confirmation it's Jessica's.

I watched a video of the parents at the abc site and the father seems suspicious to me.

news.yahoo.com..." target="_blank" class="postlink">Cops Find Body in Jessica Ridgeway Search

"At this point in the investigation, after thoroughly looking at the parents, we're confident that they're not involved in the disappearance of Jessica Ridgeway," Materasso said earlier. "The focus shifts to an unknown suspect, as we think that she was abducted."

Sarah Ridgeway told police she last saw her daughter in Westminster, Colo., last Friday morning when Jessica left for school. The fifth-grader never showed up at a nearby park where she was supposed to meet friends for the one-mile walk to her elementary school.

I'm so so sorry.

Peace to all involved...

There is a press conference this morning in about an hour and a half. 7:30 central time. I'm not sure if they will state if it is Jessica or not.

The police department has asked the public not to look for info on the case elsewhere but to wait for their official statement.

However, ABC news is reporting it is the body of Jessica Ridgeway.

Hopefully the news conference will be on time and it is not Jessica

Well, unfortunately, little blonde hair blue eyed girls seem to get the most attention when they go missing. I don't know why. It isn't fair and it isn't right. Other children often don't make the news and no one even knows they're missing.

Though, with the elderly, our local news has "silver alerts" all the time. More often than Amber alerts.

I posted this because a friend of mine lives in Arvada, CO and she has a sweet little 10 y/o girl herself that I used to have in my preschool class. The whole story breaks my heart.

Here is a live stream if anyone is interested in watching the press conference and does not have a way to see it.

Edit: They just announced it will be delayed another 15 minutes.

They are still not saying if the body was Jessica Ridgeway. They are still processing the scene.

They are still doing a search for Jessica so my guess is the body is not hers?

What a waste of a news conference.

I flagged this a few minutes ago, not realizing Little Bit has been missing since Friday. Nor Had I read that a body had been found.

I hope, on the one hand it isnt her, as I'd like a happy ending. If that happy ending is no more suffering at the hands of an animal, okay, I dont like it, but, okay.

You're right. Statistically white blonde blue eyed kids get much more coverage than preteen Black, Hispanic or Asians. Unless of course there is a mental handicap, then they are all over the place. I wish that wasn't the case.

I assume the FBI got involved since dad was in another state & has recent criminal charges. Glad he joined the girls Mom.

I fear this will end badly for them. I sincerely hope not.

Just saw a report on the local news about this little girl and the search for her. I am in Tennessee, so it is not like we have the most accurate and current information, but thought I would put it out there for everyone.

The news anchor made it clear that a body discovered in an area 7miles from where little Jessica Ridgeway is thought to have vanished from has 'Not Been Connected' or confirmed as the remains of the young girl.

They also stated the search for Jessica Ridgeway continues.

I do hope and pray the discovered body is not this young lady! Maybe her disappearance will help solve another missing person's case, but will result with her being found alive and with little to no physical injuries.

I hope and pray the person, responsible for her disappearance and any physical or mental injuries she may have endured, is caught and put on display for the whole world to see who and what they are. I also hope they are awarded a consequence fitting their involvment, X's 10,000

This is just in the U.S. alone but this is a world-wide problem.

Missing Minority Children Statistical Report
According to the National Center For Missing & Exploited Children and the Department of Justice:

2,000 children are reported as missing to local law-enforcement daily.
Of those children who are abducted, females, aged 11-17, are most likely to be victimized.
Minorities equaled 65% of the total Non-Family Abductions.
42% were African American (24,444)
23% were Hispanic (13,386)

How many children are reported missing each year?

The U.S. Department of Justice reports

Nearly 800,000 children younger than 18 are missing each year, or an average of 2,185 children reported missing each day.
More than 200,000 children were abducted by family members.
More than 58,000 children were abducted by nonfamily members.
115 children were the victims of “stereotypical” kidnapping. These crimes involve someone the child does not know or a slight acquaintance who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.

How pervasive is the problem of child sexual exploitation?

A study about child sexual victimization indicated that as many as 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys could be sexually victimized before adulthood.

[Per D. Finkelhor. “Current Information on the Scope and Nature of Child Sexual Abuse.” The Future of Children: Sexual Abuse of Children, 1994, volume 4, page 37.]

How many reports of child exploitation have been made to CyberTipline?

CyberTipline has received more than 1.3 million reports since it was established in March 1998.

Reports to CyberTipline involve the possession, manufacture and distribution of child pornography, the online enticement of children for sex acts, child prostitution, child sex-tourism, child molestation (not in the family), unsolicited obscene material sent to a child, and misleading domain names.

How many victims of child exploitation have been identified through the Child Victim Identification (CVIP) Program?

Through September 2011, CVIP has information on more than 3,800 child victims from around the world seen in sexually abusive images.

Through September 2011, CVIP Analysts reviewed seized child pornography collections from more than 29,000 investigations across the country, through the Child Recognition and Identification System (CRIS).

This is more disturbing. Serial killer?

That'd cause a great deal of evasive comments from police.

Just because they say the body is "not connected to" doesn't mean they dont have other missing kids, or other bodies dumped....ah, $hit

It isn't the fact that she isn't crying, it's the fact that she appears to be TRYING to cry.

Because if she didn't cry she'd be blamed and bashed for that too;.

She'd get bashed for this no matter what she did. Damned if she did and damned if she didn't.

That's why I hate these kinds of situations. It's all too easy to make anything into something mysterious and sinister.

I hope the kid gets found safe and sound. I hope it's something like she just got lost somewhere in a store or something like that.

Hyperbole and knee jerk blame the victim reactions never solves anything either. It's best to keep calm and think things through.

Also, some people just can't cry because while growing up they were punished heavily for crying and taught that crying has no value.

Hmm, that could be a clue as to why the police are being so quiet I guess. I hate to be too conspiratorial, though.

How awful if there is a child serial killer in their area. Hopefully this new body has nothing at all to do with Jessica Ridgeway and is not a child at all.

I don't know, a serial killer might be preferable to a group of people kidnapping children for re-sale over seas.
Used once and thrown away, thier suffering is over, used multiple times by multiple people over the space of years is true torture.
