PASADENA, Calif. -- NASA will host a media teleconference at 11 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. EDT) on Thursday, Oct. 11, to provide a status update on the Curiosity rover's mission to Mars' Gale Crater.

Audio and visuals of the event will be streamed live online at: www.nasa.gov... and www.ustream.tv... .

Visuals will be available at the start of the event at: go.nasa.gov... .

We're 63 days in and hopefully we will hear a bit more about the "mysterious object" found a few days ago.

Maybe they will announce some significant findings. Fingers crossed.

Good, hopefully this meeting will clarify things a bit more.

The thread dedicated to the object in question is getting crazy...i think i saw a picture of a condom as one of the possibilities.

Perhaps they will be providing the results of the analysis and of the "object".

Bombard that thing already in the on board test lab.

Tell us what it's made of.

Image it with better resolution, color and clarity.

I hope they will not be announcing an embarrassing "well... the rover is losing pieces..."

Usually rolling about 100 feet per day, 160/day is longest I think, and now sitting for 3 or 4 days in one spot is promising.

We'll know tomorrow.

Here is 100% of what will be said in the conference and 100% of what will not.

1. Mars is dusty
2. Mars was once warmer and wetter than it is now.
3. The rover is doing better then expected.
4. There is evidence that there was water in this area.
5. The object is parts from the Rover/Or other man-made debris...

Now here is what will not be said.

1. We have found water
2. We have found fossils of some sort of lifeform.
3. We have found life
4. The Object is of alien origin!
5. Please fund NASA more...

LOL Sorry any bets that this is how it will go down?

And I actually believe there is life on Mars...extant and existing right now. The things is I am still not convinced the general public would believe and accept it rationally!

Is it an ordinary media conference, or they're scheduling it to make some anouncements?

Several and different settlements (ancient and new) of several and different alien civilizations.
Mars is more incredible than we can imagine...

I am not that convinced of past civilizations anymore.

But I do actually think there are life forms more advanced then bacteria with niches at the edges of where life can exist.
