WASHINGTON — The United States military has secretly sent a task force of more than 150 planners and other specialists to Jordan to help the armed forces there handle a flood of Syrian refugees, prepare for the possibility that Syria will lose control of its chemical weapons and be positioned should the turmoil in Syria expand into a wider conflict.

The secret mission, led by a senior American officer, will also help in handling the estimated 180,000 Syrian refugees who have crossed the border and are severely straining the country’s resources, the report said. The task force is based at a Jordanian military training center built into an old rock quarry north of Amman.

It may be possible, but I highly doubt only 150 US troops were sent to Jordan. It's probably closer to 1000, and however much "Aid" they can fit into a few cargo ships. If any one of these soldiers die by cross border mortaring, then it's Syria's end-game within 2 weeks.

This will only escalate.

Breaking News....

It's not much of a secret now that The New York Times has blasted it out to everyone. I think we all saw this coming anyway. The last thing the US wants is Syria's chemical weapons in the wrong hands.

Wow, this is interesting stuff here, and the reply about Jordon that you confirmed as great information yourself, Calgarian, is just as awesome.

My concern? Didn't the Vietnam War start with, oh, say about 150 - 200 'advisors'? Then came Gulf of Tonkin incident, then combat boots on the ground...you can see where this is heading, right?

S&F for you, good sir. Nice catch indeed!

another thing about Abdullah II of jordan is that he claims to be a hashemite, a descendant of the Islamic prophet Mohammed through his grandson Imam Hassan.

Whether true or just fabrication, King Abdullah II have a legitimate right to establishing a Caliphate and already he has the backing of this shiekh:

this shiekh above is very important, he is a freemason and also a forerunner for the zionist agenda

the false islamic caliphate is coming

What do you mean by that? Are you talking about the FSA? Because if they are so worried about the Chemical weapons getting into the wrong hands, WTF are they doing funding them in the first place?

Great post

However I'm afraid you're very VERY wrong
Jordan was the main staging point for special forces incursions in the lead up for the Iraq war and the main staging place for the special forces aspect of the invasion, thousands of troops were sent there, had acclimatisation, desert warfare training and began incursions months before the main strike.

It's no different now ! It is heavily influenced by the US

As I said great post .......but couldn't be further from the truth

Aye, think Operation Fortitude in the Normandy campaign. Saddam thought the US would strike from Kuwait which we had a large contingency there, however, I main strike force advanced through Jordan and locked in a larger portion of Saddams military.
