police clubs and batons are not meant to draw blood because drawing blood either from suspects or the general public is bad for the police image.

not every police force is modernized enough to carry rubber coated or synthetic batons. leather is still widely used.

it's a padding material, go ask bikers what they trust to protect them from asphalt. usually leather instead of rubber or plastics.

ive always known the "leather covered billy clubs" as slap jacks, you can buy em all over the place. i really dont see an issue for anything , but the smoke grenade. the only thing im waiting for is to hear how he was escorted onto the plane by a well dressed american.

My very first thought on reading the thread title was - oh how timely. All the very bad publicity that the searchers have had lately what with making elderly people take off their incontinence pads and disabled Children being subjected to invasive and unnecessary searches.

Then came the paedophiles and thieves working as searchers. The latest article I read involved a cancer patient who had rung ahead to enquire about getting her medications through the searches without any delays. Don't recall reading anything about the medications being a problem but she had to take the dressing off her cancerous wound and open the liquid saline solution bag. The woman was taking a last chance trip.

I do not know why the American people put up with this disgusting and repugnant behaviour. Why aren't Americans using alternative transport. The latest story just did my head in.

So apparently some random guy - on a random search pulled up a whole host of gear that was deemed inappropriate and dangerous. What a crock! He is a plant and not even a very good one. Timing is everything people - no such thing as a co-incidence that the American government and their invasive and unnecessary searches are a waste of time and nothing more than a physical assault on each and every person.

This 'find' is so blatently the spin doctors at work it is almost laughable. I cannot laugh though when I think of the woman with cancer having to remove her bandage and open her sterile saline bag - and she rang ahead to make sure she wouldn't be held up. There is nothing funny about the airport security - it is inhumane. And the fact a guy was found with a truckload of gear is far too timely to be genuine. I am so glad I am in the awakened state.

Much Peace...

Me thinks- this dude has just been reading way too much in the Survival forum. But I guess that is why they call it the survival forum, to stay alive. He just didnt think it would be in prison for being a dumbass taking all of that stuff to the airpor. Mail it next time guy.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot- This guy is now in a wheelchair.(not literally)

Can someone clarify for me when or how the UN rules and regulations for the smoke grenade apply in LA? Or is that because he came from Japan? I'm confused...if the guy is in LA, wouldn't he fall under American rules? ....personally this guy sounds like he's getting ready for Halloween! Can anyone say the matrix? ....

It'd be more shocking if he wasn't arrested.

Guys who travel with cuffs, leg-irons and billy-clubs are bad mojo.

Put it another way...if some dude wanted to shackle you up...would the clubs be for tickling? The knives for aesthetics? The guy sure sounds like a torture-killer or a moron who took Mad Max too seriously.

Gotta say I agree with this.

Lets not lose all common sense because we hate the TSA and draconian government responses. This guy is at the very least highly suspicious!

Why the hell would anyone be taking this kind of stuff on a plane?!

Boston Man Arrested At LAX With Weapons, Body Armor

boston.cbslocal.com

In his luggage, they found a smoke grenade, three leather-coated Billy clubs, a collapsible baton, a full-face respirator, various knives, a hatchet, body bags, a biohazard suit, handcuffs, leg irons and a device to repel dogs.

Harris was wearing a bulletproof vest and flame retardant pants. The 28-year-old lives in Boston, but has recently been working in Japan
(visit the link for the full news article)

The body bags, biohazard suit, and face respirator are most troublesome. I wonder if this story will be buried quickly, but it seems like he could have been a "supplier" for a larger group up to who can imagine what. I have a sinking feeling that this guy wasn't just into kinky sex, or lacking accomplices. That he was coming into the country from overseas is another factor, even though he has a plausibly deniable reason for that. Boston has a university related biohazard research facility in town that could be targeted for some kind of attack. The local police there should check on any possible connections he could have with it. I don't like this at all.

according to a poster earlier in the thread, the concussion grenade is against some sort of united nations ban.
sorry i didn't quote it, but it's, i believe, a response on the first page.

Here's the link to the Boston biohazard lab. I don't know if it's fully operational yet, though. The immediate neighborhood was up in arms against it, and rightly so. This is not something desirable to have smack in a residential community.

The leather thing sounds sorta showy and so do the numbers. A working club wouldn't have anything on it that could absorb blood and start to stink. Batons are made to be washable.

The CBP agent had "noticed that Harris was wearing body armor (including a bulletproof vest, flame-retardant legging covers, and knee pads), underneath a trench coat.

Trenchcoats and armour? Could be a guy with a rich fantasy life...or an Aurora killer in waiting?

I wonder if he looked like this:

Probably more like a Comic Con version with pasty skin and a twitch.

I wonder if he had any other suitcases or items with him. Maybe he was moving home to Boston, and all the biomass stuff was from the Japan earthquake.

Wow, people are crazy. Is this another "James Holmes" contribution? He was pretty loaded to, makes you wonder where people get such an arsenal. Good thing the guy was taken down before anything serious could have happened though. And hopefully any other wanna be's trying to contribute will be taken down just as fast, or better yet, caught before they can even start.

I wonder what this shill has caused for the rest of us.
Luggage to be kept to a certain size?
More advanced scanners?
Gropings by tsa agents to be intensified?

We'll see, but I doubt this guy was just a dumbass that was caught.

James holmes worked for a darpa subsidiary. Let me guess. This guy works for a military/private security subcontractor or a alphabet agency.

Seems like a shill for the dhs.

I call bulls--- on this. Too convenient
