The CEO Who Built Himself America’s Largest House Just Threatened to Fire His Employees if Obama�

So, we put in more time, more money, and dumped what was left of our lives into our family’s business —-with a vision that eventually, some day, we too, will be able to afford to pay our bills. Even to this day, every dime I earn goes back into this company. Over the past four years we have had to stop living in our family home, cut back on all of our expenses, and take our kids out of after school sports so that you could come to work for the family simply to keep this company alive long enough to figure out what we are going to do next.
Just think about this – most people arrive at work in the morning and leave that afternoon and the rest of your time is yours because there is no longer a second job to go to due the staggering unemployment rates. There is no "off" button for us; we are here struggling with this business day in and day out…hour after hour in hopes that we can save what is left after the government takes “their share”. When the 1% leaves the office or the golf courses, they are done and they have most weekends and holidays all to themselves. We unfortunately do not have that freedom. We eat, live, and breathe this company every minute of the day, every day of the week. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour and no holiday. I know that we are all working very hard and doing the best job humanly possible, and I'm the one who has to sign every check, pay every expense, and make sure that this company looks like it is strong so that our customers don’t lose faith in us. Unfortunately, what most people see is the foreclosed upon house and the peasant-like lifestyle. What the press certainly does not want you to see, is the true story of the hard work and sacrifices that the 99% has made. They would rather focus upon the fact that some of us are young and resisting this current way of life…and some of us are your family and friends. The press would have you believe that they actually know who we are and what we have done. This is just not true. They (the press) do not know us but they could if they would just open their eyes and look to their families and their friends…surely the 1% has impacted them too.
Now, that the economy is completely falling apart and people like us who have made all the right ethical decisions and invested in themselves and their communities are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent money that wasn’t theirs and our tax dollars suddenly feel entitled more of the same while we continue earn, work and sacrifice more. Yes, business ownership is supposed to have its benefits, but the price we've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the costs of running a business have gotten out of control, and let me tell you why: We are being taxed to death and the government thinks we don't pay enough. We pay state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, litter taxes, asset taxes, workers compensation taxes and unemployment taxes. I have to hire a tax specialist to manage all these taxes because if I get it wrong they tax and penalize me more. The question I have is this: Who is really stimulating the economy? Is it the Government that wants to take money from those who have earned it and give it to those who have not, or is it people like our family who have toiled to build a company out of nothing and can never directly employ anything but family due to the fact that growth and expansion are out off the question.
Obviously, our present government believes that taking our money is the right economic stimulus for this country. The fact is, 50% of our earnings are reduced by taxes and my paycheck is worth less and less every day. Who wants to get rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, that's what happens to me.
Here is what most people don't understand and the press and our Government has chosen to ignore – to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Instead of raising our taxes and depositing that money into the Washington black-hole, let us spend it on growing our company, hire more employees, and generate substantial economic growth. My employees will enjoy the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But that is not what our current Government wants you to believe. They want you to believe that it somehow makes sense to take more from those who have built this country and give it to those who do not, and somehow our economy will improve. They don't want you to know that the "1%", as they like to label them, pay less percentage of revenue generated taxes than the largest contributors (small businesses) to our economies and communities. Thomas Jefferson, the author of our great Constitution, once said, "democracy" will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

To restart it, you must stimulate business, not kill it. However, the power brokers in Washington believe redistributing wealth is the essential driver of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change they want.
So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on us, or our company, as our current President and other candidates plan, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company to just me and my wife. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone.
So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know that none of the candidates are capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the "99 percenters" are bad, I'm telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs and do most of the work. If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the "99%"; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.
You see, I can no longer support a system that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, so will your opportunities. If that happens, you can find me in the welfare office sitting on a bench, trying to find work, tired, and with no way to meet the economic demands that the government and the global elite have placed upon “we the people”.

i don't produce a net income either, hence i do not pay income taxes, however, i pay plenty of taxes on a daily basis ... as does most everyone else.

Not Tax funded? That is is bit disingenuous considering that the funding comes from mandated fees built into the bill by government. Of course companies like it, they can sell more product, but the truth still is that someone else is forced to pay for another person's phone, just like all of these other programs.

I disagree. Many successful people are just getting tired of fighting. They build up their own businesses and/or dedicates years to build up thier education and regulation, taxation, and red tape make it harder and ahrder to get things done and the headaches come on top of headaches and get worse and worse and on top of it all the class warfare ninnies call you everything from a Nazi to the devil itself-- for many people it just stops being worh it. Doctors are leaving medicine and retiring early because all of this crap makes it more and more untenable.

First of all, The media is a double sided sword. It may fail to portray every interest of the '1%', but it falls flat on it's face trying to compile the 99%'s beliefs. Weren't not all lazy, were not all wasteful with our money, we don't all have smart phones, we don't all buy fancy cars, we don't have time to afford dinners with our families, we work weekends and late nights too, we pay our debts, we'd love to run a company and provide jobs for our communities, we strive to be more but are ever faced with a system that is inescapable.

This man threatening to downsize his company because of taxes, has a rude awakening coming. Maybe his vacation company is a over-inflated. Maybe if you're grossing excessive amounts of money to afford your "dream home", you should have been spending that money in other areas than trying to create the modern Versailles. I mean the symbology and translation of his actions are so uncanny to the renovations to Versailles just prior to the revolution is almost makes my head spin. Instead of actually putting money into a house that benefits a very few people, he should have been "putting every dime back into the company". If you can only "afford" to take the jobs from 7000 employees yet you can afford to do this with your profits, maybe he hasn't been as frugal with his money as he'd like us to believe.

In reality, if his words were to stand true, there would be no reason to taxe this man anymore, but I think he's probably just blowing smoke up his own ass. More to the point, the demonization of the elite and the class warfare that is starting to entagle us all, really isn't pointed at people or companies with such 'modesty'. It's pointed at the corporate conglomerates that ship production jobs over-seas, that put nothing back into the economy and slowly siphon it off from small towns with 'cheap' consumer prices. It's aimed at the bankers and traders who never did their time for screwing the American people over by allowing us to pick up their debt. They made poor choices with their money, they bet on the little guy to loose, then when they screwed everyone with their intentional poor decisions, they profited from the event, two-fold. The fingers are pointed at every person who thought we were lazy because we had less money, and never considered that it was the devaluation of the dollar by trading practices that restrained us from prosperity.

This door of blame is double-sided and swings both ways. Don't feed into the veil this shady and contorted man is trying pull over your eyes. Maybe one day past he lived in modesty, but his words don't show that now. I'm sure your fellow billionaires may be more to blame for these negative outcomes than president Obama or the lower classes. After all, they were the ones that delivered such a detrimental blow to our economy, not Obama, not the poor, not the taxed, the rich. The Rich did this, you can't pass the buck, you can't blame all of your problems on one man. Obama is the scape goat for their transgressions. After all it's easier to blame a figure head than it is to blame all the people who really bent us over and screwed us.

Mr. Seigel, if you truly think that Romney will make this country a better place, you sir need to come back down to reality. We are the people that drive your cars, we do your dishes, we cook your food, we watch you while you sleep, don't.... put more of a burden on us, by making us pay your fellow 1%'s debt. The truth always prevails.

I will hazard to guess that Mr. Seigel is being sincere & not focusing solely on partisan politics.

If Mr. Romney is elected and "new taxes are levied" then I suppose Mr. Seigel will either have made a poor political calculation, was engaged in political partisanship from the beginning, or maybe a combination of both.

If Mr. Romney wins and such taxes are not carried forward then I'm of the opinion that Mr. Seigel's missive represents a proactive effort to save his business, or as he notes elsewhere from CNBC.com ...

Additionally, I'm uncertain where extortion is occurring in terms of the company missive. What "force" can he apply, other than to downsize or close up shop if Mr. Obama wins the election? Will Mr. Seigel have access to each employees' voting card to determine who will and who will not keep their job? Will Mr. Seigel downsize or close shop if Mr. Obama wins and the new taxes he refers to are not implemented?

Mr. Seigel's argument comes across to me as contingent on "new taxes" versus a specific candidate, whereby he believes that incumbent Obama is and will continue to be a driving force for new taxes. And so the primary threat is new taxes; ancillary to the primary threat is a particular candidate whose administration will, as he believes, facilitate the threat to his business (i.e. Mr. Obama's administration). Put differently, the cause will be new taxes (realized by another Obama adminstration) with the effect of business downsizing or closing. Put in the context of extortion that you had alluded to it is as clear as day that the threat (i.e. new taxes) is a "legal form" of extortion (getting something by force) that Mr. Seigel has every reason to be displeased about.

Respectfully, Hefficide, I do no understand why one person is condemned when he or she opposes addendums to an existing legal form of extortion (extortion is extortion, yes?). That one person's dissent obscures the state's extortive practice is probably as much as actors within the state wish to read or hear about when condemnation is meted out.

"I don't care." "Greedy" "Owner-assholes." Yep, that's the attitude that makes owning a business and employing people more and more difficult every year. They start a business, deal with increasing taxes, regulation, oversite, and red tape; provide jobs and get villified because they exist. Yeah, a lot of incentive there to keep struggling in the trenches.

The attitude above is why a lot of people, small, medium, and large business owners, are deciding it is not worth the hassle and throwing in the towel.

This particular story may be a hoax, but the underlying issues are still real, as demonstrated quite clearly in our exchange so far.
