The Faces of ATS (1999-2010)

I thought that members and non-members of ATS would be interested in seeing the progression of ATS since its inception in 1999.

The images below are mostly homepage screenshots of archived data. The screens are the earliest moment archived where the format of the homepage changed. I found it interesting to see some of the past headlines and other content.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the luxury of picking and choosing the exact dates from which I gathered this information. It would have been interesting to see the headline on ATS the day of (or after) 9/11 but alas the site was not archived those days.

This should bring back some memories for the older members here and even the owners.

(All images are clickable and will direct you to full size screens.)

Wayback Machine, the site used to gather this information, has much more data than just the homepage. Many of the links shown in these screenshots are clickable and although I haven't tested this yet, you may still be able to browse (at least part) of the archived data on specific dates.

You can use Wayback Machine to look at much more then It archives a huge portion of the web. Check out or many other sites that have become the behemoths of present day internet.

Very cool!! Great find!
I think it looked pretty cool in 2003-2004, and only got better every year after that, to what it is now! It's cool to see how far it's come since 99'. All I know is someone works hard on all that upgrading, and it's worth it. I love it all. the number of members and posts have grown drastically. ATS is a success in its own.
Cool history of ATS

June '04 is the one I remember first seeing. Man, does that take me back.

I'm with that other poster who said home is where the heart is.

How can you get the stats from that era? Anyone know?

I don't know if this is something everyone has discovered or not - but if you're just interested in seeing the posts from any given period of time ( 2003 onward ) you can use the built in "time machine" on the "recent posts" page. The look of the sight does not change, but the threads go back to the ones that were there on any given date.

I use this feature on occassion.

It's to the right of both tabs under "show ATS history" enter a date and time travel!

Nice to see the actual timeline is aging more gracefully than the actual owners.:

Or members for that matter.

Nice post.

I always wondered what was the very first post ever made on ATS? I tried looking for it in the archives once but no luck.

It is a beautiful thing to see the evolution of creativity as more and more resources become available for our disposal.

Incidentally, what does your username mean?

2007 was the best year, thats when they really changed and made it look all fancy and streamlined, but now its all messed up again since crap stories make it to front page with like 2 stars, like what should i have for dinner tonight 4 stars front page CRAP!!!!

although i kinda do like the older pages, always made me feel like i was going to some underground site like a back door or something lol. but red and grey HORRIBLE COLORS haa!

The originals are still up and its not what he shows in the OP for those who are interested, it looks like vandals and spam bots took over but it is all still there.

oops looks like the old fortunecity site was taken down but you can look at it with wayback
