The BBC like most news outlets is reporting on the agreement reached between the government of the Phillipine's and the Morro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), but they are not mentioning the organisation by its name, or its achronym. This is much like when reporting on the arrest of the Russian rock band Pussy Riot when they always referred to it as the all female Russian Rock Band. I am not going to make any claim about accuracy in reporting or some such but, I just find highly amusing to see the weak, and scared organ BBC news is today.

A lot of British people have a very low opinion of the BBC these days and would be happy to see it broken up.

It isn't an unbiased broadcaster anymore. There is a widespread perception that it is a left wing biased broadcaster that could never survive without people being forced to pay the license fee.

I agree; the revoltingly left wing biased Guardian newspaper is the BBC's go to publication on all matters. I am certain that the BBC gets its instructions directly from the Kremlin, and can proudly say it is fully on board with the push to turn a once great nation into a culturally marxist quizling state

Spot on about the BBC, it is crap from what it use to be, it hardly ever gives both sides of a story, the way they report of wars now is just like only one army is ever involved.
The news item that staff have no interest is not broadcast these days, if they interview people they never choose British born people, most reason for that is the BBC only have 4 % of British people working there today.
I've had lots of fights myself with the BBC over the last 10 years, they plug a website that a staff member may operate or a friend to get it off to a good start with hits, but if anyone else wants a plug they say no, the licence fee is a rip off, and they have a TV program named RIP OFF BRITAIN, they need to look close to home.

The BBC no longer bows down to the establishment which is run by rich right wingers. As such it gives these morons a hard time......which is why the Tories hate the BBC.

THANK GOD FOR THE BBC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet those with left-wing tendencies perceive the BBC to be nothing more than a mouthpiece for The Tories and 'the establishment' - at times I certainly wouldn't disagree with either assessment.

It seems to me that the BBC is over inundated with the old middle class 'champagne socialist' types, wannabe toffs and the other elements that make up the social elites of the UK all of whom have vested interests in maintaining the status quo.

What's certain is that PC influences everything about the Beeb.

ETA

I would just like to add that amidst the majority of dross and pure mind numbingly boring drivel that the BBC undoubtedly produces at present it still does come up with some brilliant pieces of television and still represents excellent value for money - just ignore all the #e.

I gave up on BBC America & their World Service years ago ... it became obvious that they'd seriously let their standards slip.

I was horrified by how muted they became, they more or less started spewing american MSM nanobytes, as if they were seriously worried about upsetting the apple cart, seems like they've cowtowed...the dumbing down continues... just take a look in stores and see what great reading material about serious issues are now avalaible..

More prozac anyone ?

here's my favorite news station.. not too much on Britian though ..
www.democracynow.org...

can any Brits recommend a good alternative news source ?

What we need to remember on this topic is that the BBC is funded by the general public.

It will pander to the popular opinion of the time. The BBC works like an independent television station to keep people tuned in.

BBC news is absolute and utter drivel! But no more than any other MSM channel out there. This is a sad, but true fact.

Anyone who thinks the BBC is some left wing mouth peace should have seen their negative coverage of Hugo Chavez this evening. Totally biased against him and his achievements.

Then there was Andrew marr this morning giving Cameron an easy ride. Nick Robinson was one of Cameron's "fags" at Eton. I think it's like a slave type thing these kids have in these schools.

It would seem that you agree that the BBC is openly left wing biased, or have I misunderstood you.

But hasn't the BBC always chosen its words carefully?
We all know that "Police are looking for a man of this description, because they believe he may be able to help them with their inquiries" means "This is the culprit, the one who did it".
While "A man is helping police with their inquiries" means "They've got the one who did it, but we can't name him because they haven't charged him yet".
