What many don't realize is that Spain has only had it's current Constitution since 1978 which was approved by popular referendum. It was re-written only recently by the government at the behest of the banking elites. The freedoms of the people are too recently won to be given away without protest.
Yet here in America most cheered when Bush threw away the Constitution in favor of "get tough" politics on terrorism with the PATRIOT Act.

Most Americans have never suffered to ensure their rights, nor fought to secure them. We have taken them for granted for far too long and quietly believed that our government could never legally take away our rights. Well they have - every last one of them including your right to exist should they so decide.
Spain may well lead the way for a world-wide revolt against the current economic and political system that has a stranglehold on the West and increasingly come to dominate affairs in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

I'm starting to think the whole police operation is just about as big of an enemy as the government structure...they really will 'just follow orders,' no matter what they are. The police and the military 'just following orders' makes it all possible...

that is exactly what it is i know in the British army you have to take the oath of allegiance this is what you have to say

I ..name....swear by almighty god that i will be faithful and bear true allegiance to her majesty queen Elizabeth the second , her heirs and successors and that i will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend her majesty, her heirs and successors in person ,crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of her majesty ,her heirs and successors and of her generals and officers set over me

so once you have taken the oath if you dont carry out orders you can be locked up or shot like in ww1

I just can't believe all those cops would do that. Do they live normal lives and able to function like regular people when they are not beating people to a pulp? Or are they just bad people , I think they hire officers with personality traits that suit situations like these, follow orders and able to turn off the human instinct of compassion.

Kinda reminds me of storm troopers, faceless servants for the evil leaders.

I can see using your shield and maybe a little pushing but, they were pounding on people who were sitting down and happened to be female.

Though, this is unbelievable, I don't see America going to such a place. We aren't doing THAT bad. But we aren't doing amazing either.

Since this global economic crisis began, I have NEVER seen a such a video come from the developed world that has shown so much frustration and so much hatred from all sides.

I have NO idea what is going the through the minds of the police officers there. Don't they have a conscience?? Are they that brainwashed that they fight their own people to THIS extent??? Wow.... just wow....

That video has left a lasting impression on me. It literally shows the line right before people take up arms against their oppressors.

That government is done.

A little food for thought for those people who say that their own troops wont fire on them or round them up and put them in camps, These Spanish police are beating Spanish people, what makes US citizens any more special?

after all, the police are just following orders and the military follow orders even more strictly.

What makes US citizens any more special?
Bullets. Lots of bullets. When US citizens get tired of being hit with sticks...
As far as people go, US citizens are not any better than any other citizens of any other country.
Once we have nothing to lose, we will lash out like anybody else would. With everything we have.
For some, its flowers. For others... I dont wanna go there.
I wish I could still find info online for MANWO, Military Against New World Order. It gave me great hope.

*EDIT Now all I can find is this:

P&MANWO MISSION STATEMENT: Our association's singular goal is to prevent our brothers and sisters in uniform from being unwittingly used to enslave the people of free nations under the anti-God, anti-Freedom (United Nations-led) world government system.

Its from the comments section from this website. www.flickr.com...
MANWO actually had its own site once that drew a large following of active service members.

whose fault is it ? the people, who gave the credits or the people, who took the credits ? (serious question)

Its the fault of the ones who exploit the want and desire of the common man to give their family a good standard of life.

depends on what trickery and deceptive methods were used to force the people to take the credits. such as a corrupted System designed on the basis and inherent necessity of debt - a System that can only be circumvented by living in the woods like a primitive nomad (an endangered lifestyle that itself is becoming increasingly difficult to live given the rapid expansion of civilization and its poisonous ways). their backs, like ours, were against the wall. a rock and a hard place. live in the system and suffer, or fight the system and suffer

if the people hadn't taken the credits, they'd be in exactly the same position they are today anyway (starving and homeless)

so although you have a point, it's not very compelling given the manipulative nature of the problem

The European governments made a mistake when they didn't put 15% of their population on food stamps. Once the war starts people will be saying ” quit complaining don't you know there is a war on?” I hope the American people have enough common sense to vote for liberty, write in if they don't like the options to vote for, but I doubt it and really if the government doesn't like who the people vote for they will just not count the votes.

That video is upsetting to watch. Seeing peaceful protestors beaten in such a way speaks volumes about the barbarous nature of the Spanish government.

Although I never condone meaningless violence, I certainly advocate self-defense. The instant one of those police officers brandished a club against any of those peaceful protestors, the crowd (probably numbering in the thousands) should have marched on and trampled, or at least subdued, the police. In fact, they ought to have continued marching until the mob could overthrow the Spanish government by brute force. I'm all in avor of peaceful protest, however this video clearly demonstrates that the Spanish need to move to the next phase in their revolution: Decisive action.

I must respectfully disagree. As you've already pointed out, the system is rotten to its very core. It could be that the government wouldn't count votes for alternative candidates. For that matter, the powers that be are doing all they can to shift attention away from third-party candidates.

The only option available to us as a society is to boycott the vote. The system is broken, and by playing the game, we're only permitting it to stagger on. By witholding our votes, the government loses its legitimacy. If only 5-10% of the electorate showed up to vote on election day, guess what? That'd send a strong message to the powers that be, as well as to the rest of the world.

Even a strong independent candidate cannot hope to affect change within the current, corrupt framework of American politics. In order to save our nation and the values which it was founded upon, we must abolish the current system and replace it with something that actually resembles democracy. Anything less is a concession.

your quote by Kennedy is the sentiment I try and convey to people over here in Spain. I get allot of people from the "winning" side of things........

They seem to be truly disconnected with reality so much so that some don't even think this is a big deal. What is happening in Madrid and all over the country is not business as usual. We have big storms on the horizon.

Their only hope is to influence public opinion, not silence it. That would be impossible. Really they are looking for bigger sticks, justifying the size of the sticks they will meet on the other end of this.

I am preparing to get out of Spain, being an immigrant here, I don't want to stick around while the government waits for the ultra right or left to fight it out and both to charge reprisals to the police and all authority for what they suffer collectively.

Spain, and Europe in general are looking at a mass revolt, similar to what happened in the ME. One country sparks the flame amongst the many interconnected and linked in all things. A social wild fire in Spain, will spread to all of Europe, then my friends, we have our war.

I'd be interested to hear what kind of pre-deployment pep talk cops are given before policing a peaceful protest.. Are police officers basically lied to, to build resentment against citizens or are they so ignorant and predisposed to violence that they would take any opportunity to beat or shoot somebody? In that video the police are basically taking pot shots at anybody they can. One cop hits a person, then two more follow in action..

What I see in those video's are less then 50 police rough riding over thousands of people.

You know when the people have the guts to smash the pathetic police line then I will be more then happy to watch. Until then it is just sheep being rounded up by the sheepdog.

Start fighting them back. If they break the law and the constitution and trample on your rights...they are breaking the law, and just as we can do a citizens arrest in the absence of police, we can certainly equate deviance and manipulation of the law if they choose to abrogate our civil and human rights....what is good for the goose is good for the gander. We outnumber them anyway. Anytime a crowd sees a cop abusing authority....they should immediately rush that officer and detain him, and get him ready for court.

I couldn't agree more! I am so tired of cowardice. I saw photos of people holding flowers and standing by watching innocent protesters get abused by sticks being swung like bats. This is hippie, tree hugging crap and you cannot fight a regime of tyranny and evil with flowers you ignorant simpletons. When you far outnumber abusive power you charge and make an example to futhur authority...just as they try to make an example of you! You don't stand there and watch your fellow man get beat with a stick and say it's HIS problem. I am so sick of humanity today you pathetic cowards! This goes to anyone who would just stand there and be glad that it wasn't them. Grow a pair!
