i think that everyone should use encryption, weather TLS or proxie or TOR,
PPTP or even openvpn
EVERYone.

and i understand that even with encryption, my IP addresses visited and time on each page,
that lots of unintended information will still be handed over to third parties.

unless you use tor,
there is a very small user base for tor in nz and my opinion is that using it would "stick out like a sore thumb"

so tor with TLS

TOR with HTTPS everywhere?

there are some many opitiions an every one of them takes alot of effort to understand and use effectivly.

whats the best option?

You go with what you feel you need.

Tor will protect your ip (kinda) but it won't protect your traffic.

Have a look at
www.i2p2.de...

The choice of encryption depends how paranoid you are

The best option is double/triple encryption of your own personal files..
Truecrypt has an easy tutorial on how to have a clean system and an encrypted system.
If forced to give out the key they get access to the clean system whilst the second is invisible.

Or run everything off a key drive that is fully encrypted and eat it if they come knocking..

There used to be a piece of software called decaf that would restrict any gov forensics, I'm not sure if still works/effective.
