I don't think it is the same as Iran does have a working Nuclear program , the only bone of contention is Iran says its for peaceful energy production and the west say they're working toward a bomb .... which they may well be and given the hostility they're facing who could blame them ,it seems to be working for North Korea

about three years ago, at night, i felt an explosion that made my windows shake. it was a weird kind of sound, like something blew up deep under the earth surface. like a ballon suddenly was pumped up and then imploded. then i switched to a news channel, a couple of minutes later they said an explosion occured in iran, near isfahan. now it got weird, because the explosion was strong even i live about 5000 kilometers away from iran, and after this message on the news channel, there was nothing. no more messages, no comment, just nothing. not on other news channels, nowhere i heard about that explosion again. about 1 year later, i got internet, and researched that explosion, i found something about it, but they said it was an ammunition storage. my opinion: no way ! you should have heard and felt that explosion, massive, under earth surface (like a plop), felt over 5000 kilometers away like a little earthquake. later i researched, that some military experts said, that iran probably bought a couple of bombs from a state of the former sovit union.

Im not sure if Iran had bought some bombs or if it was an ammunition storage like they said. But I do have to say that it could very well HAVE been an ammunition storage facility.

Research the Halifax Explosion. this happened about 40 mins away from where I live on Dec 6, 1917.
A french cargo ship that was carrying ammunition and explosives for the war effort collided with another ship and because of fires that were cause exploded. It destroyed 2 square kilometers of the water front, killed 2000 people and injured 9000. It was the largest man made explosion before the Trinity tests.

Before living where I now reside, I used to live about 4 hours drive away from Halifax. The basement foundation where I lived was cracked because of the explosion.

I know its not the same as being 5000 km away and feeling the explosion but if you were to compare the type of explosives and ammunition that we have now and also that this ammunition storage facility could possibly have been 10 tims as big as a cargo ship, It very likely could have been felt from your location if it was just an ammunition storage.

Like i said, not sure what happened in this case but could go either way. I doubt they had a nuke and tested it. IMO i think we would have heard about a nuclear test, whether underground or above if it did happen, but who knows

I have to say this. I was until a little while back, say a year or so, one of the people who would adamantly advocate AGAINST a war with Iran, or anywhere really. I would always jump into threads about Iran as a threat, here on ATS or elsewhere and really drive home my opinion about Iran not being a threat and use the fact that lies are used to coerce us into aggression. I would quote intelligence briefs, "experts", whatever. I spent considerable energy arguing against Iran's military threat.

I have come under the understanding that really, they are.
Let me explain.

I know that lies are used to manipulate people and public sentiment into global and perpetual war. I know that WW2 has not ended but shifted battle grounds from our back yards to those of our markets. I know these things all that means. Would I rather they were honest about it all and simply told us why these things are done?....YES. Do I appreciate being lied to? NO....In fact I hate hypocrisy and those that use our sentiment to achieve a goal. The 9/11 guilt trip to me is especially despicable, being a New Yorker myself.

Now, what this is to me, after all that considerable energy spent looking into this, is that we are in a them VS us situation. Like it or not, we are not the enlightened masters of the universe we all think our selves capable of being. We might be one day, and I hope so as well, but really all our meditation, positive thoughts, and other nonsense will not make our enemies go away.
Do they hate us for our freedom...no don't be a dumbass. Of course not....they are at odds with our global supremacy of markets, trading, military strength, and all things our geopolitical positioning place at our door step. That they do envy. That is a huge bulls eye on our backs.

We have all profited and enjoy what that has contributed to our country. We got bragging rights from WW2 up until the 90s. We got the worlds talent at our door step, the worlds innovations, brains and progress. Even Europe could not compete with our empire.

Now our empire is changing with game changers that have been and will continue to increase the versatility of our old and new enemies. They will be in a position to cause us much damage with little risk to themselves. I am not even saying some crazy people in the ME did 9/11... my thoughts on that are on the controversial side, very much not aligned with what I am saying now...but anyways, I will say that in all parts of the world we have potential threats.

Russia, China, and even EUROPE....yes even them. They are all full of school girl glee seeing our country tank geo politically and have all made aspirations for global supremacy. I don't think they will be any more responsible with that title than we were. I don't even care for it. What does concern me is that our people might suffer tremendously in the transition.

The UK made their transition from global empire to respective nation within its area of influence without much resentment or blowback. Some, but most things were pardoned. The US I feel is being used and thrown away like an empty coke can. I think our transition will be violent and have expensive reprisals. A high price OUR PEOPLE will pay with everything from poverty to death.

We need to not focus on that as much as make the way for a last round of global balancing. All the would be dictators and power we have made artificially must be toppled and reset before we are at odds with keeping order in our own country. The potential for a fall is so great in our country that we need to reset the world WE CREATED, so we leave no one on top.

If you watch SG1 or SG Atlantis, we are like the ancients. We have made a world that is unbalanced and un evenly distributed. If we pull out of the global scene, no aircraft carriers protecting international shipping, no troops in hot zones mitigating tribal disputes, ect, the world will break into pandorum. The world we leave would be full of goa'uld system lords using our technologies and abilities we taught them in petty and violent acts to rule for themselves, not the light of humanity.

Too Sci-fi? well they would be A holes with the positions we placed them in. I would argue that yes, we have made a mess. But we do have a responsibility to clean it up before we draw the curtain on American supremacy.

Not to mention we must go out with a fight. For our sons and daughters sake, we must preserve our sense of honor. Too Klingon? well we can't cut and run or we will be targeted for our supple and inviting resources and wealth. We have to withdraw at a respectable pace. If not we bring all the galaxies Ferengi to our door step.

The truth is no one wants war. The other side to the truth is that sometimes we need it. Iran is being ruled by a dictatorship with all the wrong types of friends as far as the American people should be concerned. They are looking to secure themselves by making alliances with our future enemies, and will do so with no regard to our people and the danger they place us and Europe in.

That is unacceptable. I did nothing to them, the leadership of that country, yet they would bring their people into a frenzy and support China and Russia who will eventually war with us for supremacy. We need to reset that country and buy ourselves time to prepare. We need to reset the world and level the playing field before we have to rely on someone else who hates us and our culture to protect us. I don't want to see my country like Japan. Calling the US because China wants to mop the floor with them. The mighty Japanese empire reduced to begging the US for protection we might not give one day.

Imagine.....F that.
We need to reduce all our enemies and leave only our allies standing. The choice of friend or foe must be made now and be made in earnest. Iran has chosen, and though I am sorry their people must suffer it, I know that in the end, it will protect my people from the maniacs in power on all sides of the border and within my own.

The good war is well fought because it is fought well. We must simply get it over with. Bear the stains of possible injustice and wrong, so our children will not have to. We must be the "bat men" of the generations of mankind. Let them hate us, and despise our every action. Let us know we do it out of service to our people and in the end , for the world.

Let our Spartan hands make the necessary war only we can. Let our hands be stained with sin so our children can stain theirs with the ink and paint of their arts and creation. Let our children never know what compromise is and let their world be rid of all enemies we have created. We that destroy, let us do so well. Let us do it and be done with it.

On a logical standpoint, if you DO believe Iran is a threat and wants to ''wipe Israel off the map'' what good does it do to the people of Palestine or anyone for that matter to blow it up with nukes...
