A BBC documentary has investigated the conspiracy theories surrounding the7/7 London bombings, probing claims that the co-ordinated blasts were in fact part of a Government plot to boost support for the Iraq war.

The bombing murdered 52 people when four British Muslim suicide bombers detonated their home made devices on the London underground.

A BBC spokeswoman said of 7/7 Bombings: Conspiracy Road Trip: 'The series takes conspiracy theorists on a journey to fully explore the facts and challenge their beliefs.'

It also features conspiracy theorists - including model Layla Randle-Conde - playing the parts of the bombers in a reconstruction of events.

Between 8.50am and 9.47am on July 7 2005, four British Muslims - Mohammad Sidique Khan, 30, Shehzad Tanweer, 22, Jermaine Lindsay, 19, and Hasib Hussain, 18 - blew themselves up using home-made explosives, killing 56 (including themselves) and injuring 700 on three Tube trains and a double-decker bus.

Daily Mail

Despite a high-level Parliamentary inquiry and a government report, both published in May 2006, concluding that the bombers carried out the attacks on their own, conspiracy theories continue to exist.

Primarily, that the attack was a false flag to create support for the war on terror.

...there have since been a wave of conspiracy theories around the attacks.

One of the more popular accuses then Prime Minister Tony Blair, the Government, the police, and the British and Israeli Secret Services of murdering the innocent people to stir up anti-Islamic fervour and create public support for the 'war on terror' and looming war in Iraq.

It also alleges that the four British Muslims were tricked by the authorities into taking part in what they were told would be a mock anti-terror training exercise.

What they weren't told, it is claimed, was that the Government was going to blow them up, along with other passengers, then pretend the four were suicide bombers.

Theorists have also accused government agents of setting off pre-planted explosives under the three Tube trains and on the bus.

Daily Mail

I personally have no trouble believing that the four British Muslims planned and carried out the attack on their own.

Nonetheless, It will be interesting to watch this documentary.

I believe it was a set up.

They may have been complicit or they may have been ignorant, but they died on the day so they were in some way involved. My hunch suggests that the movements of these muslim men was orchestrated and designed to coordinate with the blasts which killed more than fifty innocent people.

I'm even going to be so bold as to suggest they were on a 'training' exercise, being guided by an unknown source as part of a top secret training / observational exercise in which they would possibly play the part of monitored people and thus had to wear the rucksacks and be monitored on the underground. Unbeknownst to them, they wouldn't be receiving any kind of payment as they would die in the blasts.

This is the title of the story.

Fury as BBC documentary suggests Government plotted 7/7 attacks to boost Iraq war support (well, it is hosted by an Irish comedian)

I would be inclined to be 80% Sure this was a False flag and I am basing this on the fact that we were lied too over the WMD and many other things.

Do you not find it strange that we have not been attacked since then ???

As one post suggested on the paper site, this will be mocked and the conspiracy branded as a nut job.

I believe the bombers were fanatical Muslims. For instance, the widow of one of the bombers is wanted for a Kenyan bomb plot and currently on the run (The Guardian)

Nonetheless, it is still possible that they were duped by MI5.

Not really. MI5 has done a good job of infiltrating Muslim terror cells and I have read elsewhere that the CIA spends a huge amount of money watching British radical Muslims as well.

For instance,

www.mi5.gov.uk...

The list of notable terrorist offences listed on the web site

* 27 February 2002

Moinul Abedin was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment after being convicted of making large amounts of detonators and the explosive HMTD in a Birmingham house.

* 13 April 2005
Kamel Bourgass was convicted of plotting to commit a public nuisance by the use of poisons and/or explosives to cause disruption, fear or injury. He was already serving a life sentence for the murder of PC Stephen Oake.

* 7 November 2006
Al Qaida operative Dhiren Barot was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years' imprisonment after admitting a plot to attack UK and US targets using a "dirty bomb" and gas-filled limousines.

* 30 April 2007
Five men were imprisoned for life after being convicted of a plot to attack targets such as shopping centres and nightclubs using fertiliser-based explosives; two others were acquitted.

* 15 June 2007
Seven men were jailed for a total of 136 years for their involvement in Dhiren Barot's "dirty bomb" plot and "Gas Limos Project".

* 11 July 2007
The four would-be suicide bombers of 21 July 2005 were given life sentences following their convictions on charges of conspiracy to murder. A fifth man involved in the plot was convicted in November 2007.

* 26 July 2007
Five students were convicted on charges of possessing material for terrorist purposes with the intention of going to terrorist training camps in Pakistan or Afghanistan.

* 9 Jan 2008
Sohail Anjum Qureshi, an Al Qaida-trained terrorist intent on carrying out an act of terrorism overseas, was jailed for four and a half years.

* 18 February 2008
Five conspirators were convicted of plotting to kidnap and behead a British soldier and were sentenced to terms of between two years and life.

* 17 December 2008
Bilal Abdulla, an Iraqi citizen who worked in a hospital in Paisley, Scotland, was sentenced to 32 years' imprisonment for his role in terrorist attacks carried out in London and Glasgow International Airport in June 2007.

* 8 July 2010
Ibrahim Savant, Arafat Khan and Waheed Zaman were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiracy to murder persons unknown. By this point a total of twelve people had been convicted in seven trials for terrorism-related offences in connection with the 2006 aircraft bomb plot.

There have been many more cases such as above, where MI5 has stopped plots before they can be carried out.

I was asked to appear on that show! It was unpayed though, and it meant two weeks off work so I turned them down.
Also I felt pretty certain that the show would end up backing up the official story.
Can't wait to see the show now.
I still have the e mails from the makers if anyone doesn't believe me :p

Bearing in mind we are also talking about the government of the time who refused a full enquiry into the Death of Dr Kelly (WMD dossier). I wouldn't put it past any government to arrange for things to be done to carry out what they require. after all the US is brilliant at setting up patsy's to take the fall. FBI are amongst the worst for arranging everything for 'terrorists' and thenarresting them just before they are due to carry out their plan.

Someone once posed the question about the police, but i think it fits for government. I'm not sure who is worse, the person that thinks everything that they do is suspect, or thinking that governments do no wrong period.

For me the 2nd is worse, at least if you have an open mind that what you're being told is not the truth you can look for alternatives, if you think they can never do wrong, wow, what a closed mind you have

Why were you asked?

What is interesting about the documentary is that the comments by readers of the Daily Mail are very supportive of the conspiracy theories.

For instance, the most popular comments are

"Just because its disgusting and in bad taste doesn't necessarily make it untrue."

"Any normal thinking person would think what a load of rubbish. But then you take a step back and look at what our past and present governments have done to us, then you think anything is possible."

"I don`t think we would be suprised at ANYTHING Blair did!!"

"Good for the BBC for having the courage. I fell hook line & sinker for the 'official' story at the time as I'm not remotely interested in conspiracy theories. But then I saw close up photos of the blasted floor of the tubes blown upwards & realised that bombs had been placed *under* the tube. I followed it up with more research & realised the whole thing does not hang together. There has not even been an proper enquiry."

"There's a conspiracy theory behind every terrorist attack that happens in the Western world. The worrying thing is; they actually make sense."

Daily Mail

It looks like 7/7 conspiracy theories are mainstream.

There have been many occasions where the intelligence services have not stopped attacks too. Even in the heightened security times in Northern Ireland IRA terrorists still manage to pull of some coups that were undetected by the security services.

Just because the 7 July atrocities happened does not mean that the security services were complicit.

In all these “false flag” conspiracies, the thing that is missing is plausibility.

The 7 July atrocities were carried out by some nutcases with no regard for their lives nor the lives of people they murdered. Lest we forget.

I dont believe for a minute the goverment is clean handed in the ways it influences public opinion.
NOTHING ELSE they do supports the idea they are honest and forthright in the way they govern public opinion and public emotions.....
The methods used to promote the agenda of those who have the power to govern us, are psychologically based.......
They treat the public much as if they were trying to brainwash one individual.....only on such larger scales the comparison pales.....
The 7/7 plot could easily be a product of MI (pick a number)
There is ample evidence to show that such tactics are becomming commonly applied, ever since the Oklahoma Bombing, and the WACO massacre.....
Its obvious the public gets these trauma bonding prods when they are less than enthusiastic for the PTB agenda.
WE ARE CATTLE.......NOTHING MORE>

the Beeb will not air a show that makes it believable that 7/7 was an orchestrated event to gain support for an Iraq war ..... not gonna happen ... all this show will do is trash the conspiracy that says it was an orchestrated event by TPTB ....

Well, why not. Most of the conspiracy theories around 7 July (and 9/11 et al) are just laughable. It will work to disprove them and show them for the "trash" they are.

I think there was a woman involved in this asking questions here on ATS, I can't remember which thread though. She asked members if they wouldn't mind taking part in the documentary.

I say it's a load of nonesense, I cannot believe for one second that the Government would go to such lengths. This is the UK, we may not like our Government, but I honestly believe they a higher sense of morality than that.

7/7 and 9/11 were completely faked events, with no real victims.

Please research this fact, and don't continue to be sucked into their multi-truth-layer
bull-spittle. www.cluesforum.info.

The bbc are complicit in these gross deceptions.

The West is down for demolition (from within). The East is where it's at.

With the greatest respect, you are living in a parallel universe / Noddy Land if that's really what you think. There were victims. Lives were destroyed. I know someone who was involved in the London atrocities.

I just watched this show and it didn't make that suggestion at all.

The show was comedian Andrew Maxwell, who doesn't believe in the conspiracy, taking conspiracy theorists on a road trip to convince them that it was as the government said it was.

They took the same route as the "terrorists" to see if they could make the trip in time to set off the bombs where they did. They blew up a double decker bus to see what a homemade bomb could do etc. There were 5 claims they looked at, they didn't really investigate the whole plot. The theorists claims were pretty weak, and it was easy to shed doubt on them.

Basically the five conspiracy theorists changed their minds by the end. It didn't prove anything either way imo.

Paraphi ... we may disagree on who was behind the terror attacks but we definitely agree on the fact that there were definitely victims ... in fact ... from memory ... Im sure that one of our (British) Para-Olympians was a victim of 7/7 ...

There was another program in the same series but about 9/11.

From watching segments on youtube it didn't seem a particularly serious or objective program and I'm not in the least surprised that the outcome of the 7/7 episode is the same as the 9/11 one.

You know exactly what you're going to get with this.

I have a passionate dislike and distrust of our politicians and the system that maintains their grasp on government but I honestly find it hard to accept that they deliberately set up these bombings and the subsequent murder of innocent British people just to boost support for their war on Iraq.

I am not that naive that I don't suppose they may have manipulated the event to further their own agenda.
And I do believe that it's more than probable that they are hiding certain facts surrounding the case, be it incompetence or even unintentional involvement of elements within our security services or something else equally damning.

One thing is without doubt and that is that the whole truth has never been publicly disclosed.

I seem to recall that a member of ATS went to school with one of the bombers and if I remember correctly he gave a quite detailed account of his radicalisation during and after a trip to Pakistan.
I'll try to remember more details etc.

The BBC has been known to broadcast some revealing and controversial documentaries occassionally in the past - I hope this documentary was produced in an open and unbiased manner and I for one will watch it with an open mind before passing comment or judgement etc.

Watching this at the moment.....all they are doing is bickering amongst themselves now.

I'd like to say that i don't believe our government would do something like this, but i wouldn't want to bet any money on them having done sickening stuff for their own gain behind our backs.

Power and money does horrible things to people.
