Sure, you can turn it into almost anything if you just pick and choose which parts to use. How do you account for those extra bits?

I don't. your bird looks mean

just felt the need to defend myself

It certainly does match the characteristics of how a carrier bag would float through the air and be of such an un descript shape, I find it hard to see how it would have such a mirrored finish as to show the surroundings clearly in its reflection as OmegaLogos has highlighted.

the more i look at it the more I'm leaning towards the mylar balloon theory

Remember this is highly compressed and even with the original was never shot is RAW only Jpeg which means the imaging software will take liberties with objects not fully in focus including softening of edges and slight color changes to match the surrounding (AKA the sky).

Please see my previous post outlining seagull pictures and you will see the anatomy and scale matches perfectly.

Can anyone prove or show good evidence this is wrong?

i can't prove it wrong, but i am a keen amateur wildlife photographer mainly interested in birds - i've taken thousands of pictures of gulls, many of them out of focus and or blurred

i've tried but i can't see this as any species of gull - the colour is totally wrong - i also don't think it looks like any other european species of bird i'm familiar with

in fact, i can't see a single feature that corresponds to a birds anatomy - thanks for the drawings though

i also don't think it's an insect

my opinion is towards a plastic bag or a balloon (if it's a known object) but can't be sure

It's astounding it came this far.

Thank you for posting more plastic bag pics though. Maybe we can spend another 40 pages discussing yours.

The "bag" in the photo is no further than the edge of the cliff in the pic, comparing that to the size of the goats head, yeah its a shopping bag...

Need you say more? Yes. How about answering this question: why did the photographer not see the hypothetical floating, plastic shopping bag whilst she was looking in the direction of the camera as she took the photo, as her face reflected in the car mirror indicates? And don't suggest that the bag was flying so fast that she did not notice it. Flimsy bags blown by the wind don't move that fast.

It is not enough to suggest comparable looking objects whilst ignoring all the details of the context that don't support the suggestion.

This object was not a shopping bag.

The fact that actual photos of seagulls have been posted on this thread, is clear evidence of how truly stupid this discussion is, show me a bloated BLUE seagull then we can talk....Its a Bag, granted a very evil plastic bag, responsible for the destruction and pollution of planet earth, if we stopped using OIL to make these stupid bags, we could have gas for less than $1/gal.....
