Obama School Lunch Standards: Spartan Rationing, Tossed Leftovers

Yuk.

The food is horrible and severely limited.

But this does pose a good business opportunity.......
Open some good deli shops near the schools !!

MONTANA – The new school year is only a few weeks old, but it’s already becoming clear that the federal government’s new school lunch guidelines are about as popular as the NFL’s replacement referees.

After EAGnews.org published a recent article about how the Obama administration’s new calorie limitations for school lunches are leaving many American students hungry (especially high school athletes), a concerned food service worker from a western Montana school district contacted us with news about how the guidelines are impacting her students.

She only agreed to an interview on the condition of anonymity.

According to our source, the new federal guidelines require vegetables to comprise the largest portion of a student’s lunch, while the entrée is now being treated as a side dish. That means a lot more of the stuff most kids don’t eat and just a tiny portion of the palatable item.

“It’s completely flip-flopped in terms of portion size,” our source says. “I’m appalled at the serving sizes we’re required to give high school students.”.....

More lost votes for Obama !!

PIERRE, S.D. – In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations.

Perhaps the real motive is to starve students into slimming down. Just ask students in Pierre, South Dakota who, too, are in an all-out revolt.

“I know a lot of my friends who are just drinking a jug of milk for their lunch. And they are not getting a proper meal,” middle school student Samantha Gortmaker told Keloland.com.

Despite the fact that the new regulations have increased the cost of a lunch 20 to 25 cents per plate, it’s not pleasing students...........

Complaints mount against Michelle Obama’s scrawny lunch menu

Here's my take on it.

Can't believe people think the current approach makes sense.

Have to admit, the French example is fascinating...

Heres a crazy idea, get the federal government out of our lives?

Let the states and local communities deal with education and so many other issues.

Ya know, I have mixed feeling on this school lunch thing..........................

Are these vegetables fresh or canned???

Are they GMO?

I am an adult and I flat out refuse to purchase OR eat vegetables out of a can. All one has to do is look at the amount of sodium in these so called vegetables and realize they have become harmful garbage for any human being to ingest!

Now with that being said, I am sick and tired of watching children dictate to adults "WHAT THEY WANT TO EAT!". When I was a kid, mom cooked dinner and when it was dinner time, we sat down to the table, and by God you either ate what was provided or dammit! You went to bed hungry!!!

Our children our spoiled on manufactured foods and fast foods! That's all they want!

I think they need to sit thru a few videos showing how some children in this world make it thru the day on half cup a rice, or maybe go two days without eating anything at all!!! It is amazing what a person will eat when their belly starts to eat itself to sustain the functions of the body.........

Not sure how the rest of you feel about it, but our children in this western civilization (as well as adults) have not a damn clue as to what surviving and eating is all about......

Yes isn't it amazing what a socialist country can do? Do you want America to become a socialist country now?

Yes getting the Fed out of our lives would be great but look at most states now if they aren't bankrupt then they are close to it so how will they afford to pay for the schools without raising taxes?

Perhaps you have a reading comprehension problem.

Yeah, that's me...pro socialist.

Maybe you should reread my posts in the other thread.

....the point I think people are missing is that this kind of government program doesn't fix the problem.

Instead it introduces new problems and makes things much worse. So now we have kids throwing away the food they are given (tremendous waste), going without food (not healthy, and likely binge eating even more crap when they get home) or bringing even more crap to school and sharing or selling it to others.

F*I*A*S*C*O

Have you seen the actual rules?

It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

It reads like a prison manual...

Even the most simple of logic is abandoned by this program. If you want children to eat healthier, you first need to encourage them to try new foods. This only happens IF THE FOOD TASTES GOOD.

Consider the French approach:

I bet those kids eat fruit and vegetables.

Compare with what our guys are eating:

Did you focus on the actual images of food? I'm sorry, just because you serve lettuce and the occasional actual apple does NOT a healthy lunch make, imo.

Protein is limited to 2oz?

Do you know anyone in the universe that does that?

This approach is just plain dumb.

Its funny that you would say that because it seems we have the same system (school lunch programs), just the quality of the end result is drastically different.

Call it what you want: but a rose, by any other name, would it not smell as sweet?

I suspect buster2010 is too busy playing political paint-by-numbers to notice the difference.

You were the one using France as the example not me. If France can do it so can America. You are the one that seems to have little problem comprehending things like size of country number of population.

Right. Keep telling yourself that, if it will help you preserve that binary perspective of yours.

I would be for it, if I didn't think some districts would teach students that electricity is magic, that
gay people should discriminated against and Mexicans should be dumped in the nearest body of water...

All of this federal intervention stems from slavery and Jim Crow - the founders had a very big blind spot.

I must be missing something here. Maybe it's because I'm converting from metric to 'merican, but 2oz of protein is a hell of a lot for lunch. That's about two big macs. I don't know about you, but most people I know don't eat that for lunch every day. I'm pretty sure that if I had a full 2oz of protein with my lunch today, the only thing I'd be doing this afternoon is sleeping at my desk.

As far as your video goes - watching those spoiled little brats throwing away perfectly good food and then complaining that they're hungry makes me want to lobby for a repeal of the child labour laws.
