I was cleaning out old emails this morning, and I found one titled "New Song" that I had sent to myself, had opened already, but had left live on the server (as I do with emails that I want to come back to address for whatever reason). I opened it up (once again, apparently) and discovered this set of verses that I must have written on May 30th of 2010. Yeah, over 2 years old and still on the email server)

Sharia
The world is complicated
Sharia
You've closed the door
Sharia
Your scream is so frustrated
Sharia Sharia
Nothin's simple anymore

So, what has me freaked out is that
  • I don't remember ever writing anything like this
  • I have no interest in Islam or Sharia Law - none whatsoever
  • It kinda does seem like a song chorus that I would write, even if a little simplistic. Especially the line "Your scream is so frustrated" - that line does sound like my writing
  • I never would email a song chorus to myself in an email entitled "New Song" unless I wrote the damn thing myself - I have written between 80 and 100 songs, and have emailed lyrics to myself before in this manner, but never just a song chorus and never have I ever emailed someone else's lyrics to myself in an email entitled "New Song", nor would I.
  • I obviously never took this chorus and did anything with it - which, again, makes no sense, since 90% of the songs I've written came out whole, with no need for editing, and the other 10% drove me like madness itself until the entire song was dragged out of my ass like a breach birthing tragedy. No song has ever simply died on the vine like this one clearly did.

I've been a poet/songwriter for forty years now, so I do know exactly why this particular set of verses freaks me out like it does. It's not the Sharia Law reference, even though that reference adds to the absolute mystery of this email. It's the fact that it does kinda seem like my own song craft (as if I were writing a simple pop song type chorus), while completely unlike anything that would ever interest me enough to think of bothering to write a song chorus about it. Not to be dismissive of 1 billion believers, but Islam simply doesn't interest me as a religion or as a geopolitical threat. I honestly see the "war on terror" as a money generating contrivance that has replaced the Cold War for the military industrial complex. And I have no idea what Sharia Law actually involves, other than people getting hands and heads lopped off for a variety of reasons. Frankly, I just don't find the subject interesting at all.

Oh, and I did the data trail thing, and it came from me - from my email account. Yes, it could have been hijacked, but that still doesn't explain the fact that it's a song chorus (and I'm a songwriter) and not an ad for a gay porn site or penis enlargement pills, which is the kind of embarrassing stuff that email accounts get hijacked to spam.

So, if this is something paranormal, then what the hell is the point? And if it isn't, then what the f*ck is it? And I'm not going to bother with the common sense geniuses that will just tell me that I wrote it and sent it to myself while I was drunk. It was emailed at 10:30 in the morning, on a Sunday, and at that time, I was at a Catholic Church service, as usual, with my wife, who is the practicing Catholic in the family. Definitely not drunk, regardless.

Any ideas? I'm completely baffled.

I'd be a little creeped out too.

Two possible explanations:

1) Someone has found a way to mess with you. How? No idea- I'm not a computer whiz.

2) This is supernatural in origin, but the idea is still the same of messing with you and making you fearful.

You have a few options:

1) Ignore it.
2) Try to investigate and discover if a person has found a way to mess with your account.
3) Keep freaking out and giving the potential supernatural entity/thing/demon/whatever a foothold.
4) Accept that this happened. Ignore it. Consider that your wife's faith might have some answers for you in this area so it doesn't happen again.

Perhaphs two years ago, you were not at church, but instead were home sick with a flu so bad that you ran a high grade fever and in your fever delirium, you wrote that song and forgot about it?

I am just throwing that out there because I do stuff like that all the time when I get sick and I blank on it later.

Perhaps disassociative episode brought on by a high intense stress in your life at the time?

Here's even a better one for ya......the "devil" made you do it!!!! Muahahahaha!!!

Find the reason why it happened. Source is talking to you in some way shape or form. I have had similar things happen to me, especially due to my writing. When your mind is not in the way, that is when God speaks.

Dont be creeped out, it usually happens for a reason.

Memory works in very strange ways. I still do not think anyone left that message for you but yourself. Sometimes we forget details like that, especially if something is tossed into an email folder for two years or more. Do you drink or do anything else mind altering? That could play a large factor too. I have drank before and left myself videos on the computer and notes to myself vocally that I had not remembered doing and then address them later wondering when and why that happened. Memory blanks in certain time periods in our lives are quite normal as well. Maybe you were stressed and busy in that time of your life and so that memory was left behind you. Maybe you were ill and were writing and then forgot because of the state you were in. Many many key factors play here.

Just in case though, if it WAS a hacker messing with you, resecure any bank account numbers or anything etc. on your computer and be sure to have the latest security/do virus scans just in case. Someone simply getting into your email and messing with you as a joke (Oh hey, look at all these songs, I'm gonna troll lolololol!") can become "Hey, look at this bank account information..." rather quickly.

Might I suggest that this is something to do with merging timelines? It seems to me that "another you" perhaps wrote that, being as things are somewhat different in whichever timeline. I just read that they are merging quite a bit right now. I wouldn't wonder if we all experiencing things like this to some greater or lesser extent.

Do you know someone named Shari?

Two possible "computer" explanations -- first being an over-enthusiastic auto-spell checker changing a proper name into a word from its dictionary (thus, "Shari" into "Sharia") and the second being that, if this is an IMAP email account, the email was sitting on a server, not on your computer, and someone or something may have altered the email after you sent it. But you can dismiss the second by going to your "Sent" folder and looking to see what it looks like in there (it should still be around, unless you had some sort of "auto-delete sent email after XX days" setting active.)

You question yourself again

In a way it remind me of a Nostradamus verse.
No particular one, just kind of got that feel from it.

It is prophetic.

Once you start to get spirit contacts, who knows what will be thrown your way. I got a message on FB from a teacher who died a few years earlier because I was thinking of him and wondering if he was visiting me. It happens. So now you have this strange verse to ponder over for a little while. Perhaps it was a fluke, but timing is everything, so if this has some sort of relevance to whatever you have been doing lately, well....there ya go...dunno what else to add.

I was actually up to my eyeballs (at the time) with finishing off a novel (A Troubled Sanctuary) that had been stranded for a few years, and I wasn't really thinking about much of anything else at all. When I'm zeroing in on a fiction project like that, I don't watch TV or check the news or anything that will take me out of the "environment" of the novel itself, and this one was about a down-and-out corporate lawyer who stumbles (literally) onto an EPA "Superfund" site that is being used by a pedophile kidnap-murder ring as a body dump site, as a result of ghost boys haunting him as he tries to survive the winter in the site's defunct buildings. Not much Sharia Law connection there, as far s I can tell.

And the verse itself is pretty trite. Nothing significant at all. If it is paranormal, then it's kind of wasting its time with insignificant stuff. I mean, I can see what the verse means, and it's not much of anything at all.

Well, it was 2 years ago, so the sent folder won't help anymore. The verses themselves do seem to suggest that the writer - whoever it was - was referring to Islamic fundamentalism by way of using the name "Sharia" as a feminine personification of it within that chorus. That's pretty standard stuff in songwriting circles, so I am not confused as to why the term was used here. I can't even imagine what the rest of the verses would ever contain. I did a Google search with one of the lines and came up with nothing, so it wasn't something I found somewhere and copied and pasted into the email. Just weird.

I actually don't embrace this as a physical possibility, since it conflicts with just about everything that I believe to be true about reality. Good plot stresser for a ScyFy Channel original movie though.

So why does it freak you out so much then?

My take from it is that things are now complicated where there once was peace, particularly with Sharia law.

This could be said for almost all religions at this point, things are now complicated that never were before. But that is just my thought, I liked it, it was catchy.

A genie is messing with you.

The jinn (Arabic: جن‎ ǧinn, singular جني ǧinnī; also spelled djinn), or genies, are supernatural spirits mentioned in the Quran and Islamic mythology who inhabit an unseen world in dimensions beyond the visible universe of humans. Together, the jinn, humans and angels make up the three sentient creations of God. The Quran mentions that the jinn are made of a smokeless and "scorching fire",[1] and they have the physical property of weight.[2] Like human beings, the jinn can also be good, evil, or neutrally benevolent.[3]

The jinn are mentioned frequently in the Quran, and the 72nd sura of the Quran is entitled Sūrat al-Jinn.

Okay, but the thing that upsets me is that the song reflects someone else's thoughts...not mine. And yet, apparently I wrote it and sent it to myself and have no memory of having done so.

Sh*t. I wonder what's buried in my backyard?

Wow, sorry, but God is talking to him out of his computer, and email account????
Oh boy.....
if the computer has become "the source," God help us all, and you and I probably don't consider "God" the same thing or being at all. At least, I hope not.

As for the OP, someone is fishing YOU out of your own email account. Think we are all challenged right now to realize how much this mimicks our anecdotal experience of life, the computer being just another vehicle to bring us this message. Just my take, and humbly so. I do not disrespect life, artificial or otherwise, for the two have overtaken each other, so that what is "natural" and perceived "artificial" have become totally interchangeable, so that we could all assume we were creators......

I forgot what I was doing. I hope it wasn't that important.

Maybe your belief system that calls for an overhaul then. Maybe this is the stuff that's pointing out to you that all things are not actually in the neat, tidy little boxes that our arrogant and egotistical "scientific" civilization would have you think.

Or then you're getting old and are in denial of things that you are/were/surely will be. Challenge yourself. Expand your mind. Step out of the box.
